Don't worry about the Strep B test, y'all. They barely put it in your butt at all (at least, my doctor didn't) Less invasive than wiping your own butt, IMHO. It was a few inches into the vagina and then a quick wipe of the butthole. No big deal.
That's what he said! Tee he

That sucks :( I'm so impressed with myself today...I'm onto my second load of laundry, tidied up the kitchen, sorted all the stuff for filing into the filing cabinet, stored all of 2015s paperwork into archive boxes in the basement. Got another bunch of baby washing ready to be washed (I hate taking off all the tags!) and packed some more items into mine and hubby a hospital bags! Successful day if I get nothing else done I think!

I havent managed to take a shower yet (and it's 1pm) but that's on a whole other level of struggletown!

Are you at my house? Bc this describes my day perfectly thus far. I don't really see much getting accomplished off of our to do list today... :|

I just woke myself up from a deep sleep kinda nap because apparently I was thinking/dreaming about ice cream. Now I'm craving food while sleeping? And yes, I'm eating said ice cream now.
I did this the other day!! I was dreaming about coffee ice cream, so I went to the place where I normally get said coffee ice cream and they didn't have it... It was not a good day.
  • So I noticed the favorite etsy finds thread is gone. Guess the spam got removed lol darn I kinda enjoyed sharing our etsy finds

I have a stupid BH question... if I feel something almost like a kick with sustained pushing for a couple seconds, is that actually what it is or probably just a short BH?

  • Ugh my OB recommended perineal massage at my appointment yesterday. I can barely reach to wipe after I pee, there is no way I can reach to do it but I feel awkward about having my H do it. He's being really kind and willing to do whatever he possibly can to help but I just can't. Am I being silly?
Is it weird that I would actually *love* for MH to do this?! Sadly I don't think he would, even sex weirds him out now.

Ladies... Are any of you also experiencing kicks way out in right field? I'm talking like literally on my side not even in my general "bump" area. Really has me concerned about her position as I was previously told she was already head down.
  • @kp90 often even when a baby is head down he/she's not totally vertical. She may have her head down, butt up, and legs swung to the side.
  • @kp90 Doctor told me that they usually pick one side to have their butt up. My LO is head down. Butt up to my right and legs to my left. I feel kicks on both sides at the same time a lot.
  • My parents watched our toddler, and my husband and I went out to dinner. Alone time that was much needed, and we got to check out a new restaurant we've been dying to go to. It's a bar tapas scene, and they have specialty beers on tap. My Diet Coke and bread pudding was amazing enough for now, and know I know where I'll be heading post baby for some cocktails!!!!

also - my husband is nesting. He built a shelf in the garage yesterday and is painting the nursery tonight!!!

  • @kp90 -- yeah, I've been getting those too. Sometimes waaayy off to the side, like within a handspan of my spine. It's weird just because I didn't think the tiny alien could reach that far, but then again, this thing's supposed to be like 18 inches long by this point, so I guess you can hit pretty much anywhere from there, even curled up.
  • Finally decided to splurge on a nice pair of nursing pajamas. They are so damn expensive but I decided to do me today , also got some ice cream and now taking a bath . Happy Saturday .
  • Random question-
over the past couple weeks I've noticed an odd reaction when I eat tomatoes. My tongue feels swollen and itchy, almost like an allergic reaction. I've never been allergic to tomatoes before (although I am lactose intolerant). My mom says it might mean LO is allergic to tomatoes. Any STM's experience a second/third trimester food allergy?
  • @JoMunson I had a reaction to strawberries first tri and blueberries a couple months ago. My ob said they were both definitely allergic reactions and told me to stay away from berries in general. She said it COULD potentially mean an allergy for LO, but it is more likely simply a weird hormonal pregnancy thing. She advised me to be very careful when re-introducing berries into my diet while breastfeeding just in case it does mean a berry allergy for baby. She told me to first try a yogurt with real berries when the baby is around 2 months and not eat anything else out of ordinary, try that for a few days and see how LO responds to the berries in the yogurt via breast milk. Process of elimination. Anywho, be happy your reaction was just your tongue, my allergic reaction was MUCH more traumatic lol.

If I recall correctly i read somewhere early on that you can develop new food intolerances during pregnancy. Doesn't mean your baby is allergic though. Don't quote me but I swear I read something like that. Ask your doc maybe too
  • Tried Perineal massage today. I don't know how I'm supposed to do that for 10 minutes! My arms are barely long enough to get around the bump that after 1 minute I was exhausted. And not to be graphic but how far up in there are we supposed to go?

  • Got my compression socks today to see if it would help reduce swelling. Omg I really hope it does bc I seriously got a workout putting them on. I think I may need to ask DH for help from now on.

Does anyone else not have central AC in their house / apartment?   We are planning on getting a room air conditioner for Baby's room, just like we have for our bedroom.

Baby’s future room is still entirely DH's game right now, complete with old uncomfortable couch / TV / game systems / etc.  DH is really fighting me on leaving the couch in there because I only want the one rocker/recliner.  "How will we all hangout in there with baby?!" He asks, because apparently the baby is never allowed to be in a room without AC.  I'm not crazy and he's being unreasonable, right?

I already agreed that he can keep the TV and game systems in there until the end of summer, because he'll be on summer vacation.  I'm not crazy about that either, because it's going to be moved into our bedroom eventually... which has a room ac unit currently.  I've tried pointing out that babies are portable and everything in the game room will have to be moved out anyway so we can clean, but he is resisting all these points.

  • Holy nesting. Apparently today is the day I decided I wanted to deep clean the house. My body is probably going to regret it later, but the house is going to look so nice. And hopefully this should make the coming weeks a little more manageable in the cleaning dept... At least I hope so.

This might be a total coincidence, but when I was pregnant with DD I would instantly throw up every time I ate tomatoes. She's almost 3 and still cannot eat tomatoes to this day. Her doctor said it's probably just a sensitivity and she might grow out of it, but every time she eats them she breaks out in a horrible rash. Not just raw tomatoes either, it's anything with tomatoes in it!

I've had a weird reaction to pineapple this pregnancy so I'm hoping it doesn't end up being the same with this LO.
  • Super annoyed right now bc I'm mid nesting session and the vacuum has decided it doesn't want to work. DH said he'll get to it when he gets to it and the fact that I must do things in a certain order per my super annoying cleaning logic means I'm sitting doing nothing now... And of course he hasn't done any of the nursery today or any of the other things that need to get done bc his projects need to be done first.

    I'm done with today.
  • Not sure where to put this. My mom and sister threw us an awesome shower on Saturday. They put a ton of work into it and that meant so much. I'm afraid that maybe my mom overdid it though. Early Sunday morning my sister called to let us know that my mom was on her way to the hospital. Apparently she had gotten out of bed with a servere leg cramp so bad she was hollering. This woke my sister up. When my sister got in there she saw my mom take two steps, pass out, and collapse. She dialed 911 and they took her to the hospital. They ruled out stroke and heart attack and her blood panel was normal so they don't know for sure exactly what it is. My mom got mad that we came to the hospital to see her. She didn't want me there bc she afraid I'd catch something that would affect the baby.  She looks really rough where her head hit the floor. Side of the face looks like she lost a bar fight. They said she had a concussion and she doesn't seem to be improving in regards to that.  So I'm sitting here feeling helpless bc she doesn't want me there yet the rest of the family gets to be there. The hospital is over an hour drive out of town I thought I'd go back up there tomorrow but my DH said no bc he doesn't want me traveling that far alone this far into the game. That and it would probably stress her out more since she doesn't want me there.  So I'm worried about my mama.  I'm worried too bc there is a disturbing pattern in my family on her side. Her grandma died right before she was born. My grandma died right before I was born. So now with her being in the hospital and me thinking about the pattern has me all stressed out.

  • @nerdymama15 I am so sorry that you are going through this. Please don't overthink 'the pattern' it will only drive you insane, it's most probably only a weird coincidence in the first place. Good luck and please keep us updated. x
  • @nerdymama15 t&p for your mom. Please try to not over think a pattern, it will only make you more anxious. I know that it's very frustrating to not be able to go to her, my dad has been in and out of the ER the past few months for heart issues and my mom never allows me in because I'm pregnant. Waiting for updates is hard. Hugs.
  • @nerdymama15 I am so sorry to hear about your mom. Sending thoughts and prayers her way. Try not to overthink things!!

  • @nerdymama15 thoughts and prayers to you and your family! Think positively!
  • Has anyone started a postpartum plan? I was discussing this with my sister. Like delaying the vitamin K shot and eye drops, skin to skin right away, plans for limiting visiting hours once LO is home, etc.
  • @nerdymama15 Hugs. I'm so sorry you're going through this. I can't imagine.
