What does it feel like when the baby drops? I can't tell if my belly looks any different, but all night tonight it feels like there is a 100 pound weight pulling my belly down and I've noticed when sitting my belly is uncomfortably touching my thighs. Its actually pretty painful to move/walk around now. My guess is baby is sitting much lower but I just can't tell if my belly looks lower or not. (Not that baby dropping means I'm about to go into labor, I'm just curious).
The swelling in my feet, ankles and legs has increased. My shins feel like they are going to split open, its so uncomfortable!
Question: if you haven't passed the mucus plug or seen the bloody show, does that mean you haven't dilated at all? I was thinking the cervix would have to be dilated some in order for the plug to come out, right? Im wondering if that would be a sign of dilation without having to be physically checked.
My baby has been super active tonight, much more than usual lately. I read online that before labor starts, babies can either decrease in activity, or increase. So basically I'm grasping for straws here and every little twinge or slightly different feeling I'm zoning into thinking "could labor be imminent??" Please tell me I'm not alone! These last few days are torture!!
@loveymay - can't answer all your questions, but my baby dropping is actually very visible, even to people not my husband. Also, you probably feel a lot of sharp pains in your vagina. I've also had to pee a lot more. But I was carrying super high and started dropping a couple weeks ago, so you're right, it (UNFORTUNATELY) doesn't really mean much
Def. not a fan of this last homr stretch. Any position I try to sleep in, my lower right back side hurts and now the middle of my back. To add I'm pretty sure I have a cold although DH keeps saying it's allergies. Either way is miserable. It's like as the night goes in, the more aches I feel. My legs almost feel stretched out like they do when I'm gonna start my period.
Maternity leave sounds even better right about now xD
Please tell me super sore nipples is a sign of labor. They are not leaking and it's not the whole breast. They don't feel engorged either. It's been going on a few days now. Super frustrating!

I don't think belly shape is always helpful. My belly looks kinda high because of babies position but I thought he was low because of pressure and pain in my hips. This was confirmed at my appt today when Dr checked my cervix and said she could feel his head right there. Also I am 2 cm dilated and as far as I know I haven't lost my mucus plug so I wouldn't count too much on that either to predict dialation. So.... I guess I'm not very helpful.
Anyone ever get this cool/cold sensation in part of their belly? It's not continuous but I'm not sure if it's just my clothes feeling cold in some areas or if it's actually in my belly.
@WBORDERS you were helpful actually! I've had a lot of hip and pelvic pain today and my belly just feels so heavy. I still can't tell any difference in my belly shape though. I'm going to assume he dropped lower. I have a Dr appt in the morning so maybe they can confirm if he has moved down. I know its not a prediction that labor is about to start, but man I am ready to get this show on the road, Lol
@loveymay my LO has her head down in my pelvis and my belly feels like it gets exponentially heavier each day, but I haven't visibly "dropped" a whole lot. I carried high to begin with but assume she dropped when I started having a lot more pelvic pressure and lightning crotch. I think she's trying to smash her head through my cervix.

I have had this! Kept telling my DH it felt like my shirt was wet and cold. Kinda like if you washed dishes and leaned against the counter and water got on your shirt in a line across your belly! I kept touching my shirt thinking I got something wet or cold on me but there never was anything. It's only happened once around 34 weeks maybe. It was strange.
How long does it take for hemorrhoids to go away after labor? I'm really getting tired of the scary poops...
It may be....awhile....I had hemorrhoids off and on most of my life. Increase your fiber and water intake. For me, coffee and apples seem to do the trick, but it may take you awhile to find something that works.
@AmadorRose yup- i second apples and coffee. But if that doesnt work, more water, prune juice and fiber bars really help. Magnesium supplements often your stool too. Takes a few days to kick in - i take a 500mg pill a day
My never ending complaint...major lightning crotch. It literally never seems to go away now. It's like a UTI feeling in my vagina. LO is beating me up. I'm surprised my water hasn't broken. It feels like he's right there. Nothing I do helps.

So it does actually end??? It's been a week since birth and we're talking like the size of a grape now... I'm miserable because of it >.<

I have a friend who has a five year old and still suffers from them, but she never really edited her diet or did any of the things you're supposed to do to help your body help itself... So I'm not sure if she's the best example either. I know a lot of OBs have in-office procedures for them now that are covered by insurance too!

I know they do go away but damn...I've never had them before and I have new empathy for people have them in regular life. I hate taking pills but thank goodness for stool softeners. FWIW, my sister advised me to push with my knees to my chest no matter what position I push from. Her husband let her foot slip (pushing on her back) with one of them and if aggravated a hemorrhoid so badly that she claims it was the worst part of any birthing recovery she's had. She has had 5 kids vaginally without and pain meds.

Full disclosure, I'm not a doctor. Just someone who has had poo problems for many years. But, sadly, no, they are not limited to pregnancy. I've been having then off and on for about 20 years now. Usually, you can figure out a diet that works for you to keep them at bay but it can take awhile. I hope they clear up soon because I know how awful they can be.
It depends if they thrombose (clot) or not too. If they clot they can be lanced/banded/removed at the doctors office. If not they have the ability to go back down on their own, but unfortunately it's like a balloon, once it's been stretched once it's much easier to have happen again. So definitely keep up the fiber and water even once they're gone With Lily I got them in week 36 and they went away in the first few weeks PP. Now with Theo, I've had them from ~20 weeks getting worse week by week and at delivery, but they've already reduced in size in the last day.
I'm guessing LO is super low and on my bowels because all day today when I use the restroom I feel some major pressure even if I'm not going #2. Anyone else get this? So ready for him to come out!
I discovered a varicose vein on my vagina today. Worst effing thing ever! I'm so over being pregnant right now but I'm trying to mentally jazz myself up about it because I still have 4 weeks and I want baby to take all the times he needs. But ugh, really?! Can we stop wrecking all my shit please???

I won't look but I shave by feel and the swelling down there is ridiculous. I'm ready for it to be normal.
@WBORDERS Bahahaha!!! I'm right there with you. Had to laugh though. I just told my 12 1/2 year old last week when she had an attitude about all the things we deal with before they are born. My dr and wax lady swear that the the very paw vein I have down there will be better after baby. I sure as hell hope so. It makes one whole side look swollen. It's awful looking not to mention uncomfortable

I regret looking. Worst decision ever. I was previously upset that my husband didn't want to have sex because the Dr. said I'm dialated and it freaked him out. Now, I'm like thank gawd cause I don't want him ever seeing that mess. Ever.
@dancingsphinx22 I have had such sweaty feet for the past week or two, which is so not my normal. I have no clue if they smell, I can barely get close enough to them to tie my shoes! So weird and gross.
No sweaty feet or swelling (that I notice anyway ) but I feel like my 8 1/2 shoes are too small and only the 9's I have really fit as they should. ive read that this can happen and feet can stay a bit bigger even after pregnancy. no way can I get rid of my shoes but from now on I'll just buy 9's I guess

Lucky! I noticed this week that I officially have cankles and sausage toes from the swelling...but only for a couple more weeks!
@WBORDERS I hear ya. I've been all about lets turn the lights off and don't touch me down there. I looked because it was so uncomfortable and I thought something was seriously wrong. Clearly a sight I could have done without.

I had exactly one pair of shoes that I wore every day for the last three weeks. A pair of gold Sperry's. They were all I could wear and/or put on by myself.
Out of all my shoes in my closet, I can only wear a couple pairs of flip flops, and an old pair of ADIDAS sneakers that are so beat up, I'm sort of embarrassed to wear them in public. But, they're comfy, so whatever. Most people are staring at my huge belly anyway.
I bought orthopedic slip ons in pink and some orthopedic leather inner parts sandals for post-partum which my insoles fit in and they look pretty too. paid quite a bit, but summer here is serious business and they are worth the investment! Leather insole shoes always absorb sweat better and definitely don't "stink up" like the ones made from synthetic materials. I'm really fussy about stinky feet, so have done my research!
probably because I love massaging feet and I think well-taken care of feet help a lot to a person's well-being. I have a weird passion for it! did two units of reflexology in my massage certificate. thinking of working for myself when it's time to go back to work (dread the thought of going back to office-job)

on another topic, BH contractions have made a comeback. Ugh. already exhausted and it's not even labour

- I have to pee every five steps from all the pressure.
I used to consider myself very lucky that I didn't have stinky feet. But now...
My feet are so sweaty, even in flip flops, and I can't stand the feeling. My sandals slip right off my feet!
I'm hoping this is just a preggo thing, and will eventually go away.
