@crispy11 Looks like I'm not the only one who's experiencing a bout of insomnia here!

I'd be willing to bet if Rachel from Friends named her baby Ethel, it would have hit the top 100. I side-eye people who name their children strictly after TV shows.

The insomnia is terrible. My shifts are scattered between nights and days this month and it's not helping!

  • I frown upon a certain BMB lurking here :)

Last night I threw up for the first time in either pregnancy.  It won me a night to myself in a bed by myself and I got the best sleep I've had in a while.  Silver lining.  Maybe getting sick isn't so bad ::sigh::

  • So I don't know how much a big deal this really is, but I (and sometimes DH) still rock DD to sleep for every nap and bedtime. She's almost 1.5, and I want to keep rocking her for as long as she wants. It's a bonding time for us. DH, on the other hand, wants to start training her to fall asleep in her bed by herself before the new LO arrives. I get his concerns, but DD is a good sleeper, and is usually down quick. I think between the two of us, we can manage rocking her twice a day and caring for a newborn. Or maybe I'm setting myself up for failure and rough patch come this fall. I just don't know.

  • @AnnaS930 Me, too! I keep going back to it and barely containing myself from posting something very not nice!

  • I'm horrible and really don't care about other people's u/s photos. It just doesn't look like anything yet. (I haven't posted mine either, though.)

  • @camichael84 it's tough, but I totally understand! We don't rock, but lay with our kids until they fall asleep...for naps and bed..and they're 2 and 4! Part of it is we like the quality time, and part of it we don't want to deal with trying to sleep train at this point, especially since they do go to sleep pretty easy and quick now. I fee like they'll eventually go to bed on their own...maybe? And then I'll miss the time they were young.

  • @AnnaS930 Ha! I really need to get some PB M&Ms. Everytime I see them mentioned, I can't stop thinking about them. I have had a daily Cadbury egg most of this week, so I am starting to get a good amount of candy in.

  • Speaking of baby names and TV shows/celebrities.. DH is a culprit! He wants to name our baby Leo after Leonardo DiCaprio and really doesn't like any other name.... :/ unless it's a movie or video game character he likes. And he's making us host an Oscar party Sunday for a couple of his friends..maybe I'm mostly annoyed about that ATM. Lol

  • @TNgoldengirl - I like the name Leo though, so cute! I definitely listen to names that I  hear in TV/movies and books but don't necessarily try to name my kids after those specific characters.  When we named our son Emmett a lot of girls said "oh! Like Twilight!" ... well actually I heard the name mostly on "Switched at Birth" on ABCFamily - again, not naming him after that specific character but I heard the name enough to like it.
My husband is a huge Cowboys fan, so everyone assumes he's named after Emmitt Smith anyways. We liked the name enough that we didn't care where people thought it came from.

  • @TNgoldengirl I feel the same in that she won't want to do this forever, and I'm going to miss it when she outgrows it. When she moves from a crib to a big girl bed, maybe we can switch to laying with her until she falls asleep instead of rocking. I like that idea, and feel it's a fair compromise and next step to her falling in asleep on her own. I'm going to run it by DH to see what he thinks.

And to make matters worse today's guess my baby posts, that is her 1st time ever posting. And I'll say it, it looks like a witch with that nose!

  • You should add that to the predictions @618mom22boys!

@lovelylauren86- I wish I could go that long with no hair wash. It would be such a grease fest for me!
  • @AnnaS930 DD is a great sleeper, and the few times I've attempted to lay her down in her crib without rocking, she doesn't cry. She just plays for 5 minutes then I go in and rock her because it's what I wanted to do anyway. I get needing the me time. She goes down and 8, and as much as I love spending time with her, there are many nights I'm looking forward to 8. Same with her naps, which sadly have been decreasing in length lately.

  • @618mom22boys - Agreed, I didn't look at the rest of the U/S, the bird beak was all I could stare at

Sometimes I wish more dirty lurkers would come to our board. We have formed quite the S16 unity and lack snark, unless a random decides to pop up, give their random opinion after not reading previous posts or threads and then prefaces every post thereafter with "I know lurking is frowned upon here"... yadda yadda. C'mon over anytime, we have a lot of bitching to release.
My FFFC is that I can't stand when someone prefaces a post with 'I know lurking is frowned upon here...'   It's not frowned upon, no one ever said it was.   It's frowned upon to come in and post solely to stir sh*t up.   Lurk if you want, post helpful antic-dotes to a subject if you know any, see what awesomeness S16 has to offer, we don't care.    Just don't do a drive-by to see if something blows-up.
Eye rolls for days when I saw the "i know lurking is frowned upon here" posts
  • I can't remember a day in the past that I didn't wash my hair. I'm kind of OCD about showering every day - it meant a lot of quick showers when my kiddo was a newborn, with his vibrating chair parked outside of the shower. That little chair was a lifesaver...

  • @camichael84 -- I still rock my kiddo who will be 2 in April to sleep for every sleep. Or sometimes we lay in our bed together. I kind of love it. It's nice down time for me too. I do worry a little about what happens when a new baby is here, but we'll cross that bridge when it gets here, I guess! I have a few ideas--most of which involve baby being in a co-sleeper and LO being in the bed until he falls asleep and then moving him, etc.

and, re: insomnia. I had it really badly when I was pregnant with LO. But I secretly loved it because I got to sleep on my own and watch any tv I wanted and eat ice cream with no witnesses! I couldn't sleep the other night and did all of that (well, except I had a Cadbury cream egg instead of ice cream).
  • I love my name, Lauren, it bothers the crud out of me when people use a younique spelling of it.
  • @camichael84 I've been in love with Paul Rudd since that movie.

  • @PSUBecky23 Me, too.

DH knows where the name comes from and is like, "Cool. He's funny."

  • My FFFC is that I really have no desire to breastfeed. Since this is my first I will still try it out once baby is born, but I don't see myself exclusively breastfeeding or doing it long term.
  • Wow you go to sleep and miss out on all the fun! I agree with lurkers supporting and not prefacing with "I know lurkers are frowned upon" or whatever.  I have more but I have to get up an pack because we have a 5 hour drive ahead of us. Right now my FFFC is that I'm not looking forward to said drive.

  • S/O names it took me 6 years after we got married to change my last name.  I went from a simple, easy to pronounce 5 letter name to a 13 letter everyone botches it last name.   That also means that this baby will be the only one to have my married name on their BC.
