Well, my little lady was quite comfortable where she was. I started the induction process on the evening of Thursday November 19th. My husband and I checked in and got comfortable for what we didn't realize would be a long stay. When I checked in, my cervix was completely closed - and had been for awhile.
Thursday Night:
Started the induction process with Cervadil in hopes to open the cervix. Had that painfully inserted, and planned on checking things the next morning to see if we'd made any progress.
Friday:
They came in Friday morning and removed the Cervadil, and still my cervix was closed. So, we started up Pitocin to try and get contractions to help open the cervix. Was on Pitocin all day, and that afternoon they came back to check my cervix - still closed. So, the plan for Friday night was for me to try Cytocec - another cervix ripener. I took that Friday evening, and then again first thing Saturday morning.
Saturday:
After the second round of Cytotec, they checked my cervix again - alas, still closed. So the next step was going to be more Pitocin, followed by the Foley Catheter which I was less than thrilled about. I started the day with Pitocin, and then had the Foley Catheter inserted at about 2:30 PM. Having that inserted might have been one of the most painful things I've experienced. After a few hours of that, it fell out - which was good. They came and checked, and I was now at about 3 cm dilated. So, they decided to give me a break that night (let me eat and rest) and then start up Pitocin again Sunday morning.
Sunday:
They came in and checked my cervix - still 3 cm, and kicked on the Pitocin early Sunday morning. At 9:30 they came back and broke my water - also very painful. I was now only 3.5 cm and having pretty regular painful contractions. I finally decided to get the epidural which was definitely needed for my sanity and pain at this point. After they broke my water, the nurses came in and were checking on me regularly. One of them noticed meconium, but didn't seem to be bothered by it.
Now it's about 6:30 PM on Sunday and I'm only 5 cm. My doctor had decided she'd offer a few different options. I could continue to push through the night and see how things went, or take the night off and start again in the morning, or finally opt for a c section. I had been there for so long trying to push this little baby out, I didn't want to throw in the towel there. There was a shift change in nurses, and one of the nurses was cleaning up and noticed more meconium. She left, and came back about 10 minutes later with a technician to do an ultrasound. She said that based on the meconium that she saw, she felt as though the baby might be breech. The reasoning behind that was that the meconium was very thick and raw. Usually it becomes diluted when traveling through the fluid. My baby had been head down for awhile, and even as late as that week when we were checked. So, they do the ultrasound - and sure enough - she is breech.
My doctor comes in around 7, and says that we'll be operating at 7:30. At 7:51 PM I welcomed my beautiful little lady into this world. It was quite the journey, but I could not be happier with her. She is such a miracle and has proven that she is going to be quite the stubborn one moving forward.
25 hours of labor. 20 minutes of pushing. Cord was wrapped around her neck and everytime I would contract, her heart rate would drop. Which meant that I got to enjoy being turned from side to side for hours just to stabilize contractions and her heart rate. Luckily the rotisserie treatment worked well enough to keep her completely stable throughout the labor and she was born without any actual complications. She is absolutely beautiful and perfectly healthy. Her father was amazing throughout everything. 10/10, would do it again.
Jackson Thomas 12/3/15 6:39 pm 7lbs 13 oz 20.5" long
Went to the dr Wednesday evening 5pm, by 5:55 we were pulling up to hospital after being told to go straight there to be hooked up to fetal monitor. Dr wanted to begin induction so I was there to stay after them letting me eat dinner first. Started cervadil at 10pm Wednesday night. Took an ambien to help me sleep. I was given my epidural and pitocin all before noon yesterday on Thursday 12/3. From 12-3pm I went from 1-10 cm. I pushed a few times then they decided to just let me labor down for an hour or so by propping me up in the bed. I then pushed for about 2 hours with a little extra dose in my epidural bc the pain was coming back and I was crying and losing focus. At that point the nurse and Doctor said he could use forceps or I could push for another 2-3 hours. Didn't want forceps so I pushed like hell for another hour and he was out at 6:39pm. I am trying to get the hang of BFing, the nurse says he has a good latch. He slept last night for two 3 hour stretches in hospital room with us, we are so thankful I love him and his baby smell and can't believe he's here!
Morning of the third I had just had breakfast and was about to shower, get ready for a 10:45 ultra sound appt to check on the LO. Went to use bathroom and had a little leakage. Thought it could have been my mucus plug, wasn't too sure. Contractions started so I began tracking. My husband works at the hospital that is attached to our birthing center so I told him to sit tight and I'd drive up. By the time I got to my appointment I was having them approx every 2 and half minutes, 50 seconds long.
They said.. No ultra sound for you!! Checked me out and it was my water that had broken. I was at 3 cm so they got me all set up!! It all just happened so fast... Atleast that part!!!!
I labored for 15 hours, pushed for 3. 18 hours of unmedicated fun It was absolutely the hardest thing I've ever done, there were moments where I felt truly tested. All in all, amazing experience. The staff at my birthing center were/are incredible. My husband was amazing
Just like all of you lovely mamas... We are so in love with our little man. We adore Jackson, I can't wait to see what the future brings!!!!
Baby Gavin is here! EDD 11/29 DOB 12/4 Just under seven pounds and just under twenty inches.
Water broke at 11:30, went to the hospital in hopes of having an unmedicated waterbirth, but waterbirth room was taken. Was ready to push by 3:30. Tried every position the midwife knew of but finally stopped making progress and had to have a vacuum. Finally got him out at quarter to six; tore both perineum and right labia but did it all unmedicated, which was my goal. Midwife was surprised how fast it went for a FTM, and I honestly didn't think it'd be that quick either; he was out in six hours, two of which were pushing.
He's perfect, precious, and we're so in love.
(I'm going to be one of those weirdos that doesn't put his picture out there)
Went to ultrasound appointment for a BPP and they sent me to my MW to schedule induction because baby was measuring 11lbs. Started pit at 2pm, epidural at 4pm, labored until 10:15pm to let baby descend as far down in my pelvis as possible. OB came in and tried to scare me into having a csection but MW was confident in my ability to get her out since DS was 9 and a half pounds. Started pushing and heart rate wasn't even detectable. Nurses called in for backup as I was pushing. MW said "don't even breathe just give me a good hard push". I pushed like hell and she came out within 3 pushes. I didn't even shit the bed! She's the talk of the hospital with all her little rolls. Can't wait for her to get cleaned up and stick a bow in her hair.
Miles Richard was born on 12/4 at 5:17 am. EDD was 11/28. Induction was scheduled for 12/4 @ 5am, but my water broke 9:30 on 12/3. Labored for about 7 hours, pushed for 30 minutes, and he was here-- all 9# 4 oz. of him! First one was only 7 lbs.; had no idea he would be that big!
Water broke Thursday morning at 1:30. Called my midwife, and she told me to call back when contractions are close and uncomfortable. I called back at 3:45 and she could tell be how I sounded that it was time to come in. We left and arrived at the birth center at 4:20. They were filling the tub and I sat on the toilet and emptied myself out tmi. Got right in the tub and worked through contractions. The water felt amazing!! Once I was in the tub, I didn't feel the start or end of my contractions, just the peak of them which helped take some of the edge off. After things started getting more intense, I wanted my husband in the tub with me and he really helped me stay in a comfortable position. My back pain was pretty bad, but being able to move around however I wanted really helped me manage it. After about 10 minutes of pushing, I moved into a squatted position and baby came out in one push! From the time I got in the tub, to the time he was born, was 4 hours! Total of 7 hours from the time my water broke. FTM so wasn't expecting such a fast labor, but I am so thankful. today is 3 days PP and I feel great other than a headache. I had some second degree tearing, but I don't have any discomfort. breast feeding is going pretty well now. I am using a nipple shield (wasn't expecting that) so that's been an adjustment. LO has a lip tie so it's been a little painful, but now that my milk is in, it's not too bad. Going to see how it goes for a few weeks before making a decision about getting his tie snipped.
Congrats to all new mommies, and good luck to anyone still pregnant! It's so worth the wait!
Ps. Slept on my stomach last night. Omg. Amazing feeling
Axel William EDD Nov 30 Born Dec 7 at 8:37 pm 8lb 11oz, 21.5 inches
Started having contractions Sunday, got to hospital around 3 am and got an epidural right away (seriously, one of the best things ever!) I had the hardest time with a little lip of cervix that wouldn't go over so my doctor had me start pushing around 5 30 and it moved. I could tell something wasn't right with me- something just didn't feel right and I knew I wasn't ok. The nurse kept reassuring me I was ok and that my vitals were good. I kept telling her I wasn't ok and my mom (filling in since DH is deployed) told her I wasn't ok. So she gave me oxygen. I still wasn't so she finally got the doctor. Doctor checked me and said he was stalled and couldn't get past my pubic bone and said we would need to do a c section. During surgery she told us my pelvis is just too narrow, that he wouldn't have gotten through and that whenever we have another I'll most like just need a c section right away.
We are both doing well though, and that's all that matters! We got to video chat with daddy and he is beyond ecstatic andwe are anxiously waiting for him to come home on leave. We are so in love with our little guy! He is just such a good baby too!! ♡♡
Quentin James EDD Nov 30 Born Dec 8 @ 9:14pm 7lbs 15oz 22 inches long
This little guy seriously gave me a run for my money. Went in Monday night to be induced, had cervadil placed but then an hour later my water broke on its own. DH and nurse didn't believe me and I had to sit in a puddle of my own yuck until I finally called nurse to use the restroom and got up to a waterfall. Started pit a few hours later. Got the epidural about 2:30 at 4cm, had a horrible reaction, had it placed and tested okay but when they started it on the IV my chest started getting tight like I couldn't breathe, my arms started to go numb and I had ringing in my ears. They had to stop the IV and give me epinephrine to raise my blood pressure. Once it was back to normal, we tried the epi again and it was a godsend. Until it wore off at 12:30pm at 8.5\90%. Tried to labor through it until 3:30 but midwife said at that time I was only 9cm and couldn't push yet. I was in unreasonable pain so I got a higher dose in my epidural along with some pain meds. I was out like a light! Midwife came back at 5:45, checked me and said "let's push!" I made really good progress at getting him down (from -1 station) to being able to see his crown on every push. But then things stalled. I pushed for 2.5 hours with a few moments of "I can't do this anymore" thrown in there and I finally asked midwife if he was coming or getting close. She hesitated and said when I push, she could see the top of his head at my labia but when I stop pushing, he zips way back up there. She was afraid his shoulders were stuck. I told her I was done, no more pushing and she said that means a c section and I said okay and then lost it waiting for for Doctor and anesthesia to get to the hospital because I was in so much pain. They got there an hour later and I got prepped. The anesthesiologist pushed more epidural in but it didn't do anything for me at all, which I told her and the doctor. When the doc poked me, I said "ouch" and she said "oh it's just pressure" and cut me anyhow. I felt EVERYTHING and absolutely freaked out! I was screaming my head off. And they kept telling me it was only pressure but I'm telling them, I can feel everything. It's a good thing my legs were tied down or I would've kicked the doctor multiple times. She finally told me my yelling was causing my child to become tangled with my intestine and I needed to calm down. I managed to breathe it out until the kid got out, then she they started to push for what I'm assuming was the placenta I yelled again so she would stop and I could get some pain meds since baby was out. Anesthesia gave me something that knocked me out thru my IV and I finally got to see baby an hour later when I woke up asking for him.
I hate that I had to have a c section and the way that it happened. I am pretty sore in the midsection right now and can't wait to shower. Yuck... But little guy is healthy and has a great latch and has been breastfeeding like a pro! And btw, it was his head that was actually stuck, it's large (which we knew from the ultrasound) but because of all the pushing, looks like a watermelon and has a huge hematoma on the top

Team Green to Team Blue! Jonah James Born 8th December (40+6) 8lb 7oz 21 inches long
After a week of irregular contractions that always fizzled out, my waters broke during my 5th membrane sweep at 10:30am. Short version: I got my water birth in the birth centre! The water was an amazing relief and I used gas and air too. I'm disappointed that I had another 3rd degree tear, but relieved to say I had no idea until they told me - I honestly didn't feel the tear at all. Jonah is doing great and we are currently waiting to be discharged so that his big brother can admire him some more
Isabel Alanna EDD- 11/24/15 BOD- 11/25/15 7lbs 6oz 19 in long via emergency c-section
I spent the 23rd and 24th home with mild irregular contractions as well as heavy fatigue. At my 40 week u/s to check for placental health it was found that placenta might be failing as amniotic fluid was very low (2.9). We were advised to induce or csection and we induced the night of the 24th. Started with a cervical softner at 10p and was 4cm by 7am. Epidural at 730am cause those contractions were no joke. Baby showed signs distress (irregular heartbeat) around 9am, position changes improved it but stress returned around 1030a. Position changes did not help. Dilated to 10cm and tried pushing but baby was too big for pelvis and couldn't fit...more distress. Baby arrived by csection 11:58 am Nov 25th. I spent the whole pregnancy scared to death of csections but really it wasn't that bad. From now on my measure of pain will be held up to 6am contractions and discomfort to trying to have a regular bowel movement after getting home. Congrats to us all!
I know I'm not supposed to comment on here...but @Unica1302+ I've NEVER seen a newborn with so much hair!!! She'll be a baby hair model...beautiful little girl!

I went in Monday morning for a scheduled induction due to post dates. I was given cytotec at 9:10 and made it to 1cm when they check at 1:10. I was having contractions every 1-2 minutes so they held off on the 2nd dose of cytotec. Around 7 they decided to give me the 2nd dose of cytotec and by 11pm I made it to 5cm. I was in shock because I knew how long an induction could take. I was contracting every 1 minute and was getting no relief so I decided on the epidural which was the easiest part of this experience. At 1:30am the resident came to check me and I thought she was joking when she said "are you ready to have a baby? You are 10cms." I started pushing at 2:00-2:15 and pushed for 2 hours. I was having intense hip pain where it literally felt like my left hip was on fire. At 4:15 a flurry of activity started and I was brought for a crash c-section. I had an amazing nurse, my mother [current l&d nurse in N.Y.], and husband who stayed calm during a 10 minute deceleration. I had no idea this was happening and wasn't even sure why I was being brought for a section. I was wheeled in at 4:20 and baby girl was born at 4:28. Scariest few minutes. I never got to see or hold my baby until I was settled in mother/baby around 10am. It was the hardest 5.5hours of my life. Things didn't go at all like we planned, but I have a healthy baby girl and that's all that matters!
Anderson Jacob EDD: 11/25 Birthday: 11/25 5:17 AM 9 pounds 3 ounces and 21.5 inches long
I had my membranes stripped at my Monday appointment at 39+5, and didn't really expect much. At about 3:30 PM I started having contractions that were about 45 seconds long and about 3-5 minus apart. Through the night I didn't get much sleep, but in the early morning they were about 1 minute long and maybe 7-10 minutes apart. At 4 PM on Tuesday, we went to L&D to be monitored, and found out my contractions had thinned me more, but I hadn't dilated any further than the 3 I had been on Monday. I walked the halls for about 4 hours, and had made it to a 5.
At this point, after 30 hours, I decided I wanted an epidural, because it was too intense and that was the best decision I have ever made! It took away all the pain, but I could still feel the tightening. I progressed from a 5 to a 7 in about 30 minutes, then stalled again, so they broke my water and started pitocin.
Another 6 hours of labor, and it was time to p push! I pushed for an hour and my beautiful boy was born! I got a small tear that needed 2 stitches, but recovery hasn't been too bad. I struggle with breastfeeding because it's uncomfortable, but we're still working on it.
Baby's Name: Delilah Eve Sex: female DOB: 11-30 EDD: 11-29 Weeks pregnant: 40+1 Weight: 7 lbs 4 oz Length: 19.5 in
Birth Story: Woke up around 4am when my son came to get in the bed. As I went to move I felt the bed and realized it was really warm and wet, then felt a gush. Told my hubby and son that my water had broken. Hubby started freaking out and said we needed to get to the hospital. So he woke our daughters up and had them get ready for school while I tried to clean up my mess. He then went to my parents, who live next door, so that he could prepare them for the kiddos. We finally got them situated and I had the sheets in the wash so we were off to the hospital. I had only felt 2 contractions by the time we left and they weren't painful. Contractions kicked up on the ride to 3-5 minutes apart by the time we made it to the hospital. The highlight to check in was that the girl working the L and D check in desk was a friend! So that process was quick. Got into the triage and contractions weren't that strong but was still 3-5 min apart. After about an hour the Dr came in to check and see if my water broke and how dilated I was. Water gushed on her so no test necessary but was only 2 cm 50% effaced and baby was still high. I was admitted and in a room by 7am. Baby was evading the monitors and contractions weren't getting any stronger so they started me on pitocin around 8am. I was given the episural shortly after. When they came in to check my cervix again at 12 I had only made progress on effacment. So they uped the pitocin a little. They did another check around 2pm cause my contractions were finally getting a little stronger and at 2 mins apart. I had progressed to 3cm 70% effaced and baby was still high. At 2:45pm I started feeling a little pressure so while the nurse was in there moving the monitor once again (about the 20th time) she checked my cervix and I had progressed to 7cm 90% effaced and baby was at a station 0. She said she would check me again in 30 minutes but in about 15 they had to come in cause they lost her again on the monitors. I was feeling more pressure and had just told my hubby that it wouldn't be much longer. She went ahead and checked me again and baby's head was crowning! She was born at 3:11pm after 4 pushes. I cut the cord as the hubby refused, that was pretty awesome and a first! She came out crying and passed her apgar. We got our hour of skin to skin but I was going for a tubal so they came back and cleaned her up. She had to go to the nursery cause the hubby had to go home and get the kiddos from school. Baby girl lost some weight and jaundiced in the hospital so we got an extra night and a Dr's appt the next day after release. She is doing great and goes for her 2 week checkup on Monday. Hard to believe she's almost 2 weeks old. We are all so enamored with her. She's our beauty!! Her older siblings are doing great with her. She sleeps great also and hardly ever cries. Couldn't ask for a more perfect child as she is the last I will ever carry.

I was having contractions December 5 Sunday night I was spotting and having a lot of tightening and I called L&D and they said to go in and I was at 2cm they had me walked for an hour or two about 12ish I was still at 2cm and my ob said to just stay and started potocin to get things started at 1ish contractions got intensive so I got the epi I was then at 4cmand about four ours later i started to feel intensive contractions and a lot of back pain nurse they came in and said the epi had moved and they started on a new one 30 min later I started to feel a lot of contractions and back pain again and very painful ones I asked the nurse to call the anestesis I was now about 8cm she said they couldn't do anything anymore that, that's all epi could do and I felt everything till I gave birth I felt water broke and I wanted to push I felt baby's head pushing down my pelvis nurses told me not to but I had to and I was pushing the doctor wasn't even there by the time she got here I pushed 3 strong pushes less than a minute and she was here nurses said I did so good they never seen anything like it, I felt so good. I never new who delivered baby because I had pushed baby out by the time my ob got there but my ob delivered my placeNta and I got first degree tear and got stitches labor was intensive and something I would never forget but I wouldn't change it for anything I'm glad I felt how I brought my princess to this world Once I layed eyes on her I felt in love so happy that also my husband and mom was there with me and got to see our baby girl come to this world
Water broke at 4:15am, hospital arrival at 5:15am. A few hours of labor and one hour of pushing - Amelia arrived at 2:39pm. Born on my oldest sister's birthday too which was pretty cool!
Congrats to everyone in November 2015 and those of us who turned into December 2015. Let the fun begin!
He is so beautiful and I am so grateful. Labor was 29 hours, included nubain, pitocin, an epidural and was mostly miserable except the part where my midwife told me to grab my baby and I got to pull him out of me. It was odd at the moment but, looking back, I totally appreciate that experience.
It was nothing I wanted and I was scared but the end result is amazing.
Edit: in my post labor tiredness I put 39+ hours. It wasn't that damn long! Changed to correct 29... Lol

I lost my mucus plug Friday morning (Dec 11, 39 weeks exactly) which kicked my butt into gear to finish the last few things I needed to get done. (Thank goodness or he wouldn't have had any clean clothes to wear home from the hospital!) I spent the day doing laundry and cleaning, then fell asleep on the couch downstairs while folding all his clothes. Saturday morning DD1 woke me up around 7:30 wanting breakfast. As I was washing her a bowl for cereal, my water broke! Called the midwife, who confirmed it over the phone, and decided to take a wait-and-see approach for the contractions that hadn't yet started. She checked in throughout the day, and as the only contractions I was feeling were BHs, we decided to do a non-stress test to check on baby around the 12 hour mark. I finally felt the first real (but mild) contraction on the way to the NST, and had a couple more while we were there, but they were too far apart and too short to get excited about. I kept hoping they would pick up while we were already at the hospital, as I had been waiting for some action for 13-14 hours by then, but no such luck. My MW offered to check my cervix to see if there was any dilation yet, and if so, said she could do a stretch and sweep to see if that would nudge things along. I liked that option, so she checked and said I was about 2-3 cms dilated. She did the s&s, and said she figured I was now about 3-4 cms. We planned to touch base again around the 24 hour mark if nothing happened overnight, and we went home to wait some more. DH made me some eggs when we got home, and I had a few more contractions, but they were still sporadic. It was then about 11, so I went upstairs to try to get some rest. Around 12:20 or so, they finally started getting regular and feeling like real contractions. They were about 5 mins apart for half an hour or so before DH came upstairs to check on me. He took one look at me and said it was time to go to the hospital. I wasn't sure, as my MW had said to let them establish a pattern for about an hour, and it hadn't been that long yet. DH was insistent though, so I called my MW after he helped me get dressed again. We were in the car on the way to the hospital by 1 am, and arrived at the hospital at 1:22. Contractions got stronger and closer together the whole way there, and were only about 2 mins apart by the time I got up to L & D. We hurried to the room, and I barely had time to get changed into the gown between the contractions. I felt like I was ready to push almost as soon as I was dressed in the hospital gown and on the bed. My first MW was already at the hospital as one of her other clients had just finished having her baby, and the second one ran into the room as I started pushing. I can't remember how many pushes it took to get him out, but he was born at 1:52 am, exactly 30 mins after we got to the hospital!! (I am SOO glad I listened to DH when he said it was time to go!)
We came home on Monday, and are both doing well. I had fun shocking all the teachers by picking my daughters up from school that day, hehe! His big sisters and brother all love him to bits and so does DH.

He was born December 3rd at 2:02 pm and he is 6 lbs 15 oz,19.75 inches!!! We are so in love!!!
Edit: I forgot I was looking at announcements and not the labor concerns post. Sorry. ;(

Lol
