I am disgusted by people who smoke around anyone so when there is a baby in there my blood boils.... And sure arrest the people who smoke around pregnant women too... I am really into clean air... I warned you ladies you might not like my "secret" judgement but hey I am honest.
I obviously don't place a lot of weight in my arrest people thing and realize it's totally irrational.... But if we are asking for honesty it's really one of the few things that gets me in a tizzy.
^^my understanding is they said that because they don't know the limit of what's safe... and there have wen studies showing a glass is safe. but would love to read the literature you're citing
It was a recent academy of pediatrics statement... And obviously they can't do a true experiment on pregnant women drinking .
Here is the news report I believe she is referencing:
Thanks, ladies! I still find obesity and poor nutrition to be larger issues, personally, but I guess we all have our "things" and our own little hypocrisies that make us human and who we are as individuals.
I secretly judge people who post humble brag photos of all their kids' Christmas gifts. Then they get mad when they're judged and tell people to mind their own business. Ummm... You yourself put it out there for the world to comment on! FB posts are fair game for judgement!
I judge stupid people. Especially at work. We're all engineers FFS, use a little bit of your education. I am amazed at how bad some people are at their job. While ranting, I also judge people who lie by omission. Like the guy who took me off an email chain because I was the only one who knew his numbers weren't working and then I got clean up duty when his "mistake" came to light. Ethics are a slippery slope and that makes you a slippery bastard.
I might need a little more coffee. Or maybe a little less. It's hard to tell.
^I also judge lazy people at work. Like why do i have to research these issues you're having when i have access to the exact same information as you do, so you easily could have done it yourself? And please get off my back while i try to fix your problems, asking me how it's going and when i'll be done with it only makes me more of a Rage Monster.
I definitely had a few glasses of wine while pregnant. But i completely judge women who smoke while pregnant. In my opinion they are not the same thing. There are studies that absolutely prove that smoking causes issues like low birth weight. There are no studies that prove that small quantities of alcohol cause any birth defects or issues. The recommendation is to avoid it at all costs because there are no studies that prove that it's ok. But likewise there are no studies proving that it's not ok...so make your own conclusions.
I have a friend from college that is an OBGYN and i asked her about it. She said, obviously, fetal alcohol syndrome is extremely serious. However, in order for a baby to get it, the mother would have to be blackout drunk - like "well over the legal limit" drunk - fairly regularly. She said it is most often seen in the children of functioning alcoholics. One glass of wine every so often isn't going to cause that. She also said that legally she has to tell her patients that no amount of alcohol is ok, for two reasons: #1 because everyone in this country is so litigious, that if a baby did have any birth defect and she had told the patient that occassional wine was ok, a lawyer is going to find a way to make it a malpractice suit, and #2 because people in this country have a serious problem with moderation. You can tell one person that wine/beer in moderation is fine and they will have one 4 ounce glass of wine a few times a week. Another person will take that to mean that she can down a full bottle of wine a few times a week because that is moderation for her.
Based on the science of how the body metabolizes alcohol, which i won't get into here, if you are slowly drinking one glass of wine/beer while eating a meal, it is highly unlikely that any of it will get to the baby. However, whenever you inhale a cigarette, the baby is getting it immediately. These are two completely separate issues.
I also have a glass of wine every night currently, and i'm breastfeeding. Should i go to jail now? To be fair, my doctor said it takes about 90 minutes for the alcohol in one drink to leave your system, so i always have the drink after the baby is asleep for the night (knowing that i won't feed her again for several hours) but still. There's actually a greater chance of alcohol getting to the baby via breastmilk than via placenta.

I know when I tune into Facebook Christmas Eve I am going to be doing a lot of eye rolling when I am seeing the pissing competition of whose kids have more presents....I don't get it.... And it's so obvious because it is just the tree and all the presents at least pretend you care about the people and wait until the morning to take a picture lol
^^ similar to this - people who humble brag about their tree. I had a friend send me a text message out of nowhere last year (we hadn't spoken or exchanged texts in months) with a pic of her tree with the lights on. Huge tree, tons of lights. The body of the text was something about how bright it was in her house. And this woman knows I don't give a crap about Xmas. So, literally she sent me a tree brag photo.
My mom came over and looked at our tree today while dropping off something. It's 5ft, just a little tree for our little family. It just has some lights on it (the $10 300-bulb colored light strand package from Walgreens) and a single ornament of my baby's initial because the other ornaments are in the garage and my husband is whining I can't go in there cause he is keeping my presents in there. So it's super basic but my little baby boppers loves it regardless.
Anyway, my mom tells me my sister's tree has 3400 lights on it. She and her fiancé, who don't have kids, wrapped a light strand around every branch apparently. I don't know if I'm supposed to be jealous or what...don't know why my mom needed to tell me that. And good luck getting those off sis. I assume a humble brag Facebook post is forthcoming.
^ WHY? The lights are the worst part! I can't even wrap my mind around 3400 lights on one tree. Our tree is over 11ft tall (we have a two story great room) and I thought that the 750 lights we put on it was crazy.
It's the first time we have a tree so it looks really dumb bc we have like 2 dozen assorted ornaments we've collected over the years and that's it. The back is completely empty. Ha. I'm impressed we even got one. No clue how we are going to get it out of the house.

This makes my eyes roll so hard.
My SIL sent me a photo of her full trunk, in SEPTEMBER with a note saying, "Just went Christmas shopping, whoops!"
I think I will start responding to these things with a dead pan "congratulations" and a trophy emoji.
Hahaha...our tree was a clearance special at Home Depot and my husband calls it the Charlie Brown tree...only decorated on the front with dollar store ornaments. I really see the tree as being more for the kids and they don't care how many lights it has, or how many ornaments...it is a symbol of Christmas and a place to gather as a family to enjoy the season. And...gift bragging??? Hahahaha - I bought 3 things for LO, and the rest of his "gifts" are hand-me-down toys from family...I wrapped them only because we just got them and Christmas is at the end of the week and I was starting to feel guilty about his 3 tiny gifts...LO is none the wiser and will have fun with the toys regardless of their origin.
I judge when people post on Facebook to look for people to ask questions. Like someone who says "I'm so upset". They are just looking for people to push and ask questions.
It's more annoying when people then ask "what is wrong" then the FB person responds with "I don't want to discuss on FB"....really? I call these attention whore's !
Ooh, on Facebook when someone posts a big announcement, like pregnancy, and a few people who knew in advance have to post "so excited I can finally share it with everyone." Ok, we get it. You're better friends with that person that we are.
I secretly judge my husbands father. We just got the C/O for our house and have been slowly moving in over the past few days. My FIL started a whole big fight with me about fake trees versus real trees - telling me that I am robbing my child of a childhood because I won't get a real tree (I am allergic) and I said "fine you are right but I still won't get a real tree" - so he starts yelling at me to get out of their house...why am I holding the baby when I should be moving my shit out? Umm...because he is crying!!! I judge families who don't act like families...my family would NEVER treat us this way. Really...all this grief over a f$&@ing tree! He is pushing his own family away because if he continues to act this way he will not be seeing his grandson
I judge people who don't recycle. It's not that hard. Just throw the cans, glass and paper in another container. I use to work at an environmental education center and the director told me "recycling is a scam" Huh? What's wrong with you?
People who act entitled & spoiled & bratty. I've got a coworker who annoys me even when she's doing nothing & it's because that attitude of entitlement just eminates from her. Parents are not doing their children any favors by giving them everything they want. This girl is 24, lives at home, pays no rent & just spends her paycheck on designer clothes and her new car & she is lazy at work to boot. And thinks she knows it all. Also kiss asses. I really hate kiss asses. Just be real people! I am not a fan of our boss, I'm not rude to her but I don't kiss her ass either. Can you tell work has been a real annoyance lately?!
I don't know why i thought of it now but i not-so-secretly judge people who post closeups of their baby's genitals in ultrasound pics. I get that it's a baby and it's not THAT graphic but WTF? why does your entire facebook need to see your kid's junk online? Do people think that no one will believe them if they say "it's a girl" so they need to post the close up of her vag for proof? Dear god people. Im glad i grew up without having to wonder what pictures my parents' might have posted of me. I'm happy to know my vagina isn't on the internet in any shape or form
I judge anyone who sells anything like.... Mary Kay, Amway, IT works..... And here's why.... I know there is a desperation to "talk to me" all the time when really you don't want to talk to me.... You want to sell me your product and no I will not fall for it. There's a lady at work who claims her new fitness drink is the reason she got pregnant at age 38 and it's the best thing ever...... No you're just trying to make money and you got pregnant because you lost weight.... Sure the drink could of helped but more than likely it's just the weight.
^^ I can't stand the "you would be a great member on my team to sell Rodan and fields" I've had at least 4 friends ask me. I have a full time job and an infant. Do I look like I have time to sell your skin care? I had to defriend one it was so aggressive.

I wear jeans and a hooded sweatshirt basically every day. I have no sense of style. a Stella and dot rep tried to convince me to join her team because I have "such a great sense of style". Ummm. No I will not join your team mostly because you lie and say anything just to get people to sell under you.
Ha! I just talked to a coworker about this! Why does becoming a mom all of the sudden make you a target for SAHMs or retired women pushing their stupid overpriced wares on you? No, I don't want your Ava Anderson, or Lia Sophia, or Shakeology, or Tupperware...
I judge people who act all holier than thou about health and post constantly about eating healthy and exercising, but are very clearly not practicing what they preach, because they're very overweight, walk around with fast food drinks in their hands, and very clearly are not healthy. I'm unhealthy, I'm overweight, and I don't exercise. I also don't pretend to.
I very much secretly judge people who give their child a "safe" first name and a more out there middle name...just to call the child by the middle name. Life is short, name your kid what you really want to call him/her everyday.
I judge (not so secretly) all of you mothers who are judging others in their momming decisions. Who effing cares if a toddler drinks juice, or a baby for that matter? Who cares if a kid is only wearing a diaper in the privacy of their own home? People who have alot of kids? For realz? Women who drink any alcohol while pregnant should be arrested? What the what?? Baby boys wearing leggings? Who effing cares?!
Who are any of you to judge the decisions anyone else makes?

Shut. Up.
This is why I like Instagram better. More pictures of goats in sweaters, less BS.
I have a whole rant that went along with this post, but I'll just hold it in the interests of keeping peace
