GTKY: Where do you live?

Re: GTKY: Where do you live?

  • I missed this thread too, thanks for bumping it. :)

We're in Philly. I love it and hope never to move. I am a hardcore East Coast yuppie at heart and I feel like I've found my belonging place. Fantastic restaurants, lots of old history (by U.S. standards, anyway!), lovely historical neighborhoods, and yet it feels entirely modern and fast-paced. It's a great city and we're very happy here.

  • Missed this board too!! I'm in Rhode Island :)
  • I also missed this board! I'm from North Central Ohio!

The best thing about it...I honestly don't know lol there's nothing to do here unless you're a farmer lol
  • @lalala2004 Represent! Though I'm actually from the other end of the metroplex (Fort Worth, for those not from around here). This year was gonna be the year I fiiiiinally made it to the State Fair, but baby happened and I was too sick to go. Next year though!

What I love most about Fort Worth is probably the people and the culture. It has a very relaxed feel here (at least to me), and I don't think I could live anywhere else. It's home.

Except for maybe northwest Kansas. My dad's side of the family are from that area. If it wasn't for the winters, I'd seriously consider moving out there someday. Unfortunately, I'm a product of an area that usually only snows once or twice a year. If there are three flurries on the ground, I completely shut down and refuse to drive anywhere. :P

  • St. Louis! Tons of free, family orientated stuff to do.
  • I missed this thread and am in Philly too @Merciel (by way of NYC)! Also love this city
  • Ah, good to see another Philly member!

I could never live in NYC. Too crowded for me. I have dogs (and big dogs at that), so we need a little more space. But it's a great city, and I have a lot of friends who love it.

Totally unrelated to the subject but I have to say your pup's picture is so cute. Did he or she get a blue ribbon for best smile? :)

I guess a lot of us missed this board...I'm from southwest Michigan. About 30 minutes from Lake Michigan, a mile from the Indiana state line &10 minutes from Notre Dame (which sucks during football season), and an hour and a half from Chicago. I grew up on a farm so I love that our area is easily accessible to country, city, and the beach!

    Edit: words
  • @KaKip -- no, but thanks for the compliment!

Pongu and I used to compete pretty heavily in Rally (minor brag: in 2013 he was ranked #10 worldwide in the sport by our organization and #1 in his competitive division; in 2014 he was #6 worldwide across all divisions and #5 in his competitive division [we'd moved up to the highest level so the competition was a lot tougher!]). The ribbon in his picture is from one of those competitions.

We're not competing right now (he pretty much went as far as he could go in Rally, and we're not good enough to be competitive in agility or obedience), but I'm proud of him. Not bad for a fearful little muttpuppy I got from the shelter. He overcame a lot of challenges to do that. :)
  • Somehow, I missed this thread, too.  I live in southwest Florida, but I am from northeast Alabama (I see there are a few fellow Alabamians here.).  DH is from northeast Ohio.  We love the west coast of Florida.  It has all of the conveniences of a major city (great shopping, restaurants, art scene, etc.) without the big city feel.  And even this time of year the temperature rarely drops below 70 degrees (it's in the low 80s today), so that means year-round sailing and fishing.
  • @merciel   That is impressive! Now I need to find out  what dog rally looks like! One of my friends was talking about going and watching dogs doing agility competition and how amazing it is.

I don't think our dear Newton (also a blessed rescue muttpuppy) could do anything like that unless there was some serious food involved.

    :)

  • DC metro area (the Maryland side)
  • I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. The best thing about living here is that we are so close to just about everything! Forest, desert, mountains, lakes, rivers, and of course the ocean are only minutes or up to a couple hours away by car.

I live in Sonoma County and agree. It's heaven!
  • I'm from outside of Portland, Maine! I love it here, I've got the ocean right in my town and mountains just an hourish away. Plus Portland has so many amazing restaurants
  • New Brunswick , Canada :)! Not many Canadians on here been searching for some on this thread !
  • Hi everyone! I'm in Northeast, Ohio.

    Happy Holidays Everyone (:
  • Connecticut!  I live on the coast in Mystic (yah, like the movie).  I am pretty new to the area and would love to meet any other Connecticut mommies to be!
