Mine does all the above too.

My man is awesome! He texted me to tell me to stay in bed tomorrow morning and he would get dd ready for school- after working till 2 AM and she gets up at 6. While I am feeling run down I still planned on getting her ready for school then crawling back into bed.
It seems more sweet to me, because although he has been in our lives since she was just 18 months, he goes above and beyond as a stepfather, treating her as his own

He is also concerned about me taking percocet (my ob prescribed it to me for pain and I got antibiotics for this cyst) but like I said my doctor wouldn't have given it to me if I can't take it. I don't plan on using it as directed (taking as little as I need), but i say if I can't pick my arm up to turn the steering wheel because I'm in pain, I need it. It's sweet seeing him take charge to make sure baby and I am ok.

I was good with blood right up until I got pregnant with my first. Now it makes me sick and faint smh. Puke, poop and spit up I can totally handle lol.

DH is our household sink shiner, but he waits til it's horrible (won't clean up after himself in the first place), and then he throws a hissy fit about how awful it looks and won't do anything else until he's spent 2 hours cleaning it.

When in reality... if he would just scrape his dishes and put them directly into the dish washer, or not leave dishes around the house or pile cups up next to the bed, or heaven forbid, throw away the paper towels when he uses them... Eye roll. I may have married a diva. A diva who decides when a room looks dirty that he'll just rip the walls down and redo the whole thing. It's possible he's slightly OCD.

@charley15 hope you feel better. I can't imagine!

I do the bulk of the housework, but dh will help out if i make a list or tell him what to do. during his busy months August-December I do almost all of the housework, but once things settle down he takes on a lot more responsibilities. It just doesn't come naturally to him. His mom did everything for them and his dad so he never really had to pick up after himself, but if I write a list or tell him what needs to be done he gets there. So I can't complain too much.

I do the cooking and most of the grocery shopping and cleaning but I want DH to cook more (I may regret asking him this) but he does pick up, empty dishwasher, most if not all the laundry, he walks the dog during the week usually and he takes out the trash. Most importantly he is also the spider killer!
I don't know how our routine will be when we have a baby but I'm trying to figure that out in advance!

So I've just finished another episode of Call The Midwife. I only cried about six times!

Dh is great about splitting everything up. We both work outside the house. I usually cook and he does outside stuff (like mowing, shoveling) but everything else is equal.

DH and I split everything. He probably does more than I do honestly. I'm done with work soon though so I'll try to do as much as I can while I'm home during the day before baby gets here.

We split things as 50/50 as we can, since we both work. That said, some days I do more, some days he does more. Since I've been pregnant the latter is mostly true. He's a trooper though and never complains.

@MrsLeanMeanClean We take turns with dishes (one does dishes, other puts kid to bed) and it was his turn on Thursday. Dishes didn't get done until Sunday...I was livid. I flat out told him I wasn't doing them, which he understood, but every time I walked by them I wanted to scream.

We both work, DH is a full-time farmer and grew up in a household with very traditional gender roles. His mom did all of the cooking, housework, and childcare along with helping on the farm and working part-time. I'm really working with DH and he's getting better at realizing that if I work three 12hr night shifts in a row he'd better damn well empty the dishwasher if I ask or a meltdown isn't far off. When our baby is born the house cannot fall apart every time I work a stretch. He's getting better he does wash most of his own work clothes, and now clears the table after dinner. I do the rest of the laundry, the dishes, the cooking, and cleaning. He will help when asked and I have a feeling I will be asking for a lot more help after baby comes and I go back to work after 12 weeks. I have faith in him!

For the record, I agree wholeheartedly with this. I wasn't trying to take a jab at anyone here, whatever lifestyle works for you is good with me! But the way she worded that last comment about the mister helping her out reminded me of all the times that people have assumed that since I'm the Mama all the house and child minding duties are automatically mine. That "daddy's babysitting" comment was actually made to me the other day when we were at the park and DH was chasing the toddler around while I sat on the blanket. And the man who said it was trying to imply that I was shirking my duties. So, any ire or snark that might have come through my comment should really be directed at THAT guy, I suppose.

This wasn't directed at you or anyone else. I'm sorry if it came out that way. I'm pretty much pro do your mommy thing and you're a good mom as long as you're taking care of your kid. I just think everyone can use a reminder that they're doing a good job when there are so many people trying to put them down. ❤️

Thanks for the bath advise... I figured it was one of those things that you could spend 50+ dollars on a version that works just as well or not even as well as the 15$ basic model. There are always so many bells and whistles added to some things but before you have experience with it sometimes it's hard to know if the bells and whistles are worth it. *groan* the marketing game *sigh*

DH and I split chores/jobs 50-50 but not on a daily basis. We have an unspoken way of picking up the extra slack when the other one is having a stressful day or week or even month. In the end it always evens out. I love that we have a natural flow without even having to talk about it much. He's a pretty good team mate.

I live in the four corners region and there are a lot of very traditional Navajos in the area. Many of them will keep the placenta to burry, put on their face or sometimes even eat. I didn't really believe it until my cousin, who is a labor and delivery nurse, told me she encounters it quite often on the reservation. I completely respect others' beliefs but it was kind of a shock to me when I learned that it's a lagitamit tradition that people still follow.

I'm wide awake at midnight again but I'm feeling soo much better (must be the meds lol)! I just had my midnight snack of 1/2 blueberry bagel and strawberry cream cheese.

My daughter is the world's biggest sweetheart. Ita nights like these when I can see I raised her right and it makes me happy

. I told her that once I take my medicine it will knock me for a loop so I needed her to be a big girl for me tonight. I made a list of things for her to do and she did them all without a fuss (nothing major- give the dog his medicine, take a shower, then at 9 let the dog out to go potty). She even came in to check on me- I was wide awake but feeling good lol but she said she wants me to feel better so she gave me her favorite blue blanket to sleep with. She said it would make me feel better- and it literally did! I put it under my arm and it cushioned it enough so I don't have the stinging pain!

Makes up for my doggy being an asshole. I woke up cold- that little jerk had burrowed under my blankets, knocked them all to the floor, then left me for sissy because she still had blankets on her bed! Little traitor lol.

Well, i just took my next round of meds so I guess I'm just gonna chill for now, and wait to fall back asleep.

@SarahFoley725 lol no I really don't but that's why I made the animal reference haha. I've seen lots of it happen with different animals but definitely no one I've ever known. Also, @JLaVO888 now I'm wondering if I just don't pay attention because I have nothing but Indians and tribal lands around me and still have never heard of doing it. My paternal great grandmother was full blood Chickasaw also, maybe it's only certain tribes?

@kynbar5 It may only be a Navajo tradition but I don't think I would even be aware of it if my cousin wasn't a nurse and my others cousin's wife wasn't full blooded Navajo. It's not like it's common shop talk in public and you don't really talk about that thing with strangers.

i haven't seen the placenta thread, but (go ahead and laugh you guys) i totally saved my placenta with the last baby. i couldn't with #2, and with #1 i didn't know about the placenta encapsulation (nor did i anticipate the PP probs i had after his birth, including hemorrhage and horrible anemia and awful PPD), so with the next babies i was willing to try anything that might help, and a lot of people claimed it really made a difference. i was supposed to have it encapsulated, but the girl who was going to do it completely flaked out on me. so (this is the embarrassing part) it is still in my big freezer. i just felt really weird about just dumping it away in the trash, when some people feel like it is so sacred. it doesn't bother me at all that the hospital disposes of it with medical waste, but i just can't seem to toss it in our bin. so maybe i'll bury it or something? idk. i don't think i will bother this time. flame away, LOL - i should have saved this for Friday!

and thanks for the virtual hugs yesterday. this morning i felt like i was going to pass out and throw up at the bus stop, but it was happily uneventful. the bus driver actually reported the incident, and new it was a 4-door honda.

yesterday was our busiest tuesday, with my volunteer obligation, and then an OB appt, and then last dance class before Xmas recital, and then fast food dinner in the car on the way to Mass, so husband was the one getting kiddo off the bus (and who talked to the bus driver) but he said Ev had a great day. and i had called the school to talk to his case manager yesterday morning to let her know what happened too, to make sure he was okay, and she said he was actually really focused and on task (he is my spectrum kiddo - high functioning autism). she messaged me again later in the day letting me know he was doing well, so i was appreciative. when we finally got home last night at bedtime from everything, i talked to him about it. he said it was really scary. but it is a good reminder (for both of us) to keep an extra vigilant eye open for people who don't follow the rules.

i know it will take time for the bad thoughts to fade, and i'm sure i will never be able to recount the experience to someone without getting choked up, but today (and the next few weeks) i am just going to try to consciously replace the horrible haunting thought with a good one, "he's ok"

Also in a totally gross/awesome way I could end up using my own tissues to run some research...

Between @oceanchild freezer placenta and @mrsleanmeanclean researching her own tissues, I'm sure someone in the OB office this morning is wondering what has me making faces while staring at my phone. And so glad to hear your DS had a good day despite the scare oceanchild. Here for my glucose test (yuck). At least there is HGTV! Funny, I was remembering doing this with my first pregnancy and I remember it bring painful to drink because the heartburn was so intense. Perhaps this LO will be less furry, because the thought of pain hasn't crossed my mind.

@oceanchild No judgements here. I truly believe that people either do it because they believe it's best or for cultural reasons. I'll never judge a mom for doing something she believes to be best for her or her baby. I'm glad your son is ok after the scare. He sounds like a very reasonable and brave young man. I'm glad the driver reported it. Hopefully it was enough of a scare for he driver that he will think twice in the future.

Glad everyone is doing so well with their glucose testing!! I don't have mine until right around Christmas. I go in on 12/22 and she will give me the order for it then...if I can I'm going to wait until the week of the 28th to do it. There's just so much going on already before Christmas.

Back at the office today, but I'm locked out of my computer. I'm going to bump around for a while until IT opens it back up.

Okay so this is going to sound weird, but I love my registry so much. I put lots of thought into everything on there, and I'm really happy with it. I think I am crazy, but if there is one thing I like it is lists and I just see this as a giant list of things I need/want before our little girl arrives. Yay for organization, now if only I could be that organized at work.

If I didn't have to pay for some of this newer-age stuff (placenta capsulation, cord blood banking, etc - and yes I am aware some of this stuff has been around for ages, but it's only semi-recently become a little more "mainstream") I'd probably do it, but since I don't really have strong feelings on any of it, I'll pass.

@oceanchild A placenta tree is a thing, isn't it? I feel like I saw that on TV somewhere before...
