Less than ideal birth, but I love my experience! Induced after learning my blood pressure was high & was preeclampsia. Labored 24 hours total. The labor was actually not that bad, got the epi anyway @ 6cm. Delivery was the interesting part. Pushed for a total of 4.5 hours. Thought I was gonna die. Begged for a c section, pushed little guy out finally and thought I died and gone to heaven! Still recovering 4 weeks PP! I feel invincible after my experience! Love my little one to death. :x
My birth experience as a STM went once again not as I would have liked but hey ho, c'est la vie. Went in for my 40th/41st week check up (docs kept on saying baby was measuring very big and thought I was more far along) and found out I was 4cm dilated already and 80% effaced. I had lost my mucus plug the day before and been experiencing some mild contractions for a few days but nothing that made me think labor was upcoming. I was expecting to be sent home for a few more days but they found my BP to have spiked surprisingly high (150/98) so put me on meds right away and instructed me to come back the next morning if BP did not go below 90. Unfortunately the next morning it spiked to 101 which freaked out DH so we drove back to hospital. At that point they decided to admit me and wanted to induce me but I asked them to hold off 24 hrs as I really wanted to see if I could go without induction this time around (I was induced with DD1 too). Spent the entire night sleepless in hospital - being in a maternity ward with screaming babies but without your own took its toll on my psychologically so come the next morning I told the doctor I was ready to be induced. Due to my high BP and that I was already 4cm dilated they decided to hook me up to an IV of oxytocin. Took about a couple of hours for real contractions to kick in so I napped for about 30 mins much to DH's surprise. Once contractions kicked in they came on way faster and stronger than I remembered with DD1.
Had a terrific midwife who I think I'll build a monument for. Couldn't have done it without her since this time once again I was not able to get an epidural due to being at 10cm so quickly. Sat on yoga ball for 10 mins to help with terrible back labor and then within 1 hour of contractions kicking in my waters broke (this was a 1st for me as last time the doc had to break them) and was ready to push. 30 mins of pushing where half way I had to get on all fours because legs were in so much pain. Finally managed to push Tessa's head out (35.5cm diameter, holy cow!!!) but then my contractions suddenly stopped and I panicked. She literally had her head sticking out and I started yelling, I can't push, I can't push! My midwife quickly started massaging my stomach while I stayed on all fours and finally after 2 mins I got a contraction and gave one mighty push to get all of Tessa out. They were not able to place her on me right away because I was losing so much blood so DH took her. I got a very bad case of the shivers and shakes due to blood loss so they had to hook me up to another IV to get my levels back up and to get me to stop shaking so they could get my placenta out and give me some stitches. At one point I fainted but came too within 3 mins. They were shocked by the size of my placenta which was apparently much larger than average. I had a second degree tear with a total of 3 internal stitches and 2 external, which they told me considering the size of Tessa was amazing. Finally I got Tessa placed on me and we went spent an hour doing skin to skin during which she latched on almost instantly to breastfeed.
They later confessed to me that one of the reasons they were so keen to induce me was because they had foreseen that Tessa was going to be very big but didn't want to scare me. I'm glad I didn't realize just how big she was going to be as I think I would have begged for a c-section. In any case, it was once again an incredible experience. Super painful and tiring but oh so worth it. We are absolutely in love with our beautiful Tessa who unlike her older sister, Allegra, appears to be much fairer and light eyed like me. I absolutely adore seeing my 2 girls together and it's so nice to be able to post on this discussion board finally! Congrats to all the mommies who gave birth and good luck to those still waiting. Hang in there ladies!

Our little guy was a couple weeks late, born at 42 Weeks. We were getting really impatient and had a scheduled induction for that next Tuesday. That weekend I tried a home induction method using castor oil, it wasn't a lot and I didn't have the bad side effects, just a little bit of stomach cramps. In the afternoon I decided to get on the elliptical since it was raining and I couldn't go for a walk. While I was on the ecliptical I felt a trickle like I peed myself. It kept happening so I thought maybe it was my waters. Since it was such a small amount I waited to see if labor started on its own and it did. A couple hours later we went to the hospital because the trickle of water had gushed out and it made me worry. At the hospital the Dr checked me and I was at 4cm so they admitted me. My doula got there and I labored all night with her help and my husband supporting me through the pains. By 6am I had reached 8.5-9 cm but was so tired it was hard to keep laboring. Unfortunately I think it was a little too much for my body and I stalled out at 9 cm for 6 hrs. By then we made the call to start pitocin and I got an iv narcotic to help with the pain since I couldn't walk around and deal with the harder pitocin contractions. This did the trick and 3 hrs later I started pushing, 1.5hr later I had my baby boy in my arms at 4:34pm on Sunday, just over 24hrs from when the contractions first started. This was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but well worth it. We are so happy with our little late arrival. I'm recovering at home from a partial 3rd degree tear, that's been difficult but I'm so glad I have my husband to support me. He has been my rock. Breastfeeding is frustrating at times but I'm confident we'll get the hang of it. Thank you September bumpies for all your support during this pregnancy, even though now I've got an October baby.

Induced at 41 weeks and 1 day. 22 hours of labor. Low blood sugar led to a 4 day stay in NICU. Little man gained 9 oz after leaving the hospital. We are in love!
Introducing Emmett Jack M. 1st due date: Sept 29 2nd due date: Oct 4 Actual Birth Date: Fri Oct 2 at 2:13am Weight: 9lbs 3oz Length: 20.5 inches Birth Story: contractions started Thurs at lunchtime, 20 mins apart. Painful by dinnertime and 8 mins apart. Midwife came and checked me at 8:30pm and I was 3cm dilated. She came back at 10:30pm and I was 5cm dilated and contractions were 4-5mins apart. We got to the hospital just before midnight. Had contractions in the ER, in the hallway, in the elevator, the mat ward, finally got to a room. Was able to labour in the shower/tub on the ball. Thank goodness for the grab bars in the shower and thankfully the laughing gas was able to reach me in the shower. By 1:45am I was 9cm dilated and over to the bed. I pushed "wrong" for 20 mins (into my legs instead of my bum). Once I was able to reach down and feel his head I was able to push "properly" for 10 mins and finally got him out at 2:13am. Then wow, we were all so surprised at how big he was (9lbs 3oz. Big sis 4 yrs ago was only 7lbs 1oz). Only needed about a half hr of stitching (2nd degree tear) which was great compared to my daughter where I'd had an hr of stitching up 3rd degree tear with internal damage. So grateful for my hubby, doula and midwife. I couldn't have done it drug free without them. SO painful but SO worth it. We are so in love with our (not so) *little* man!

My labor was on and off starting on Thursday. Sunday afternoon at 5pm contractions were 2-5 minutes apart growing in intensity and getting closer together. Everything was set up and ready to go. Midwife arrived around 11:30 pm, I was 5 cm dialated and 100% effaced. I then decided to get in the water where I labored for hours with my mother and husband by my side, practicing my hypnobirthing. At about 5am they decided to check me, I was 9 cm dilated with a cervical lip, she then decided to break my water and within a few minutes I was ready to push. I pushed for about two hours and he was born at 7:55am with my husband in the water with me, what an awesome husband if I must say so myself. It was an amazing experience and I would do it all over again. It was so hard, but worth it all to hold him in my arms.
Expected Due Date; October 18th Delivery Date; September 21st Weeks Pregnant; 36 weeks 1 day Weight & Inches; 6lbs 6oz & 19 in Time; 10:28pm Name; Miles Clark Waun
I had a great first trimester and second trimester, but during my 20+ weeks I was having serious amount of pain down in my vaginal area. I couldn't sit for too long, or even lay down. I had roll out of bed to get up. We asked the doctor, he didn't seem to concerned as long as I wasn't bleeding or leaking fluid. 35 weeks (September 14th) comes along still having that pain, mention the pain again so he checks to see if I'm dialated. 2cm and 80% effaced. And the reason I was in so much pain cause the baby was moving down very fast.I was allowed to work but if I wasn't I was off my feet. He told me to make to 36 weeks and the baby will be fine. Wednesday the 16th ended up being my last day of work, Thursday morning I wake and i use the restroom like usual notice something different about my urine, different color and weird odor. I was in so much pain sitting I had my husband start running a bath for me to see if that would help. We had my grandparents take our daughter until I was feeling better so I wasn't stressing. Friday morning I wake up, I couldn't get out bed, the pain had intensified and I was still had that strange odor and odd color to my urine. My mother drove down from GA to come help while my husband was at work. We waited til he got home to go to the hospital. I was there for 5.5 hours, the babies heart rate had escalated from 140 to 205. It kept jumping in between, I was dehydrated and had me drink a bunch of water which I ended throwing up cause the nurse was shoving it down my throat. I went for an ultrasound, my amniotic fluid was low and I was dehydrated still. We were sent home, and I was on bed rest. And we were told to come back on Monday for a follow up ultrasound. Monday morning my husband and I were taking a shower, and I felt this tug inside me and that same fluid I was having all weekend had come out, and I mean a bunch of it. We had a doctors appointment anyway that day in top of going back to the hospital. At the doctors office, I give him my discharge papers and what they had done. He checked my cervix I had dialated to 4cm and I was 90%. He said if this baby isn't perfect at the hospital after your ultrasound then we might be having a baby. We go to the hospital and they do the ultrasound asked me if I was leaking and I said yes. The take me to labor and delivery, the ultrasound had come back. And they admitted me and called my doctor. It's about 6p and my doctor comes in and tells us that my fluid had dropped so immensely that we had to deliver, he goes ahead and breaks my water and he even said there was barely any fluid in there at all. I was put on petonin and for the next 4 hours I was gradually getting into my contractions. And at 10:28pm my son was born and he was absolutely perfect and healthy.
I feel a little silly posting his announcement 12 weeks after he was born and after not being on here much, but I never get sick of announcing him

Gonna keep the story short and sweet. He was born right on time (they actually tried to tell me in ER that labor was in my head since it was my due date!) and we did an all natural, drug free birth. I now understand why drugs were invented for labor lol! His dad is in the Marines and has been gone for since July. He surprised me by coming home 6 hours before I went into labor! One guess what started labor The labor itself was hard and pretty fast. I couldn't have done it without my guy there, truly the best labor coach of all time! He got to spend two full weeks with Maximus and I before having to leave again. It's been an adjustment, but I am loving every minute with my baby boy
Our Princess is finally here! I've always wanted a little a girl & after two rambunctious boys, she's just such a joy!
My 3rd child & best birth experience by far! We had a scheduled repeat cesarean at 6:00am, and Piper was delivered at 6:12am. I was able to successfully breastfeed following birth in the recovery room & was discharged after only 2 days. She is almost 12lbs now at 12 weeks. We are exclusively breastfeeding, and both healthy & happy!
Also following suit! Watched this board for weeks before DD was born, but never posted anything. Never too late, right?!

I didn't have any symptoms of labor leading up to the day she was born. I had just worked a full day that Monday, and woke up for another normal day that Tuesday morning. I woke up at 6:30 and went to the bathroom and got back in bed. As I laid back down, I felt something, but decided it was probably just discharge and went back to sleep. When I got up for work an hour later, I realized my water was leaking. After calling the doctor on call, we headed to L&D. I didn't have anymore leakage, so they wanted to do a test to confirm whether there was any amniotic fluid present. The first test came back negative, but they got a better test from the lab and it was positive. They started me on pitocin around 10. I was only 2 cm dilated. They broke my water around 4, and I had the epidural 30 minutes later. Progression was slow, but I was feeling good. We had visitors in and out all day. Eventually, I started feeling pain in my back. They thought the epidural might have been wearing off on that side, so they had me flip over and lay with my leg raised. It helped for a short time, then the pain started again. They checked me, but I was only at an 8, so I wasn't near pushing just yet. After another hour or so, I still wasn't progressing past 9 cm. They told me I could try pushing to get her past the little bit that was left. We started pushing around 11 and it worked, but she was still too high. After 30 minutes, they had me take a break and sit up to see if gravity would help bring her down. Shortly after midnight, I was feeling more pain and we decided to resume pushing. We were making slow progress, but I was getting exhausted. One of the nurse brought out a pillowcase and tied knots in both ends and we "played tug-o-war." It helped my pushing so much. At 3:03AM, we finally welcomed our precious daughter into the world. I had no tearing. It took almost an hour for the midwife to get my placenta out, and then they couldn't get my bleeding under control. They took Ellie up to the second floor after that first hour, and I stayed in the delivery room until about 11AM after an ob/gyn came in and did an ultrasound to make sure there was nothing left behind to be causing the bleeding. Once we were in our room, we finally got to just be with our baby girl and enjoy our perfect addition to our family.

For so long, I couldn't wait to post my birth announcement...now I'm 4.5 months late...but so excited!
Wednesday at 2am: Barrelocarol wakes up Mr Barrel asking to be taken to the hospital because she feels contractions. Mr Barrel is super grumpy bc he has a sore throat. Barrelocarol is not amused and doesn't even acknowledge the obvious...labor trumps sore throat. Saving that for a rainy day...
Wednesday at 10am: Nurses tell me they can't keep me in the hospital bc I'm not progressing and I'm still not dilated far enough. They send me home to labor (yay for trying out natural labor) until I'm further along.
Wednesday at 10pm: Back to the hospital, begging to be put out of my misery...I welcome the epidural wth arms wide open. For some reason, during Demerol administration, I was very concerned about the roundness of the circus tent, then I fell asleep. Odd.
Fast forward through a few hours of loving epidural life, ingesting tons of sherbet, jello, broth and trying to flat iron my hair near an oxygen tank.
Friday at 3 am: OB says it's time to start pushing. Pushing was the most exhilarating experience of my life!!! I asked my husband if we could have a second child in the middle of push break. He asked me to just through this one before we approach that topic.
Friday at 7am: 4 hours of pushing and Cutester hasn't descended at all. Between me spiking a fever, water not breaking and being manually broken and a few other adventures, it was clear that C-section time was upon us. I cried, wept, prayed then got my game face on.
Friday at 8:09am: My ears heard the most beautiful sound as my sweet baby boy cried. Daddy met him first then introduced me to him.
We are so in love. So grateful to you ladies for the support along this portion of the journey!
Hey ladies! I was one of the first mom's on here (pre-conception!), but after getting pregnant our first cycle trying, I got bullied by some of the TTC mom's and left. Thought I would update though with my little September squish.
I live in Canada but am from the US, so my mom decided to come up for the birth to help me and meet her first grandbaby! She had 2 weeks. She had arrived 40w2d and I still wasn't close to labor! I walked malls, went to tourist spots and did stairs, squats, I still can't believe I was so mobile! At 41w the midwives offered a sweep and I agreed, thankfully it worked and that night around 10pm my labor began. It wasn't super painful, so I wasn't sure if it was real. As my husband was timing them though, within an hour they went from 10 minutes to 4-5 minutes! We called the midwives and began filling up our birthing pool as we planned a homebirth. The midwife was at the hospital with TWO mom's in labor and she said she would get another midwife, my back up. We'll she called back and my back up, and my second back up were both I attending births. She had one midwife who was free! I was in a bra (only) pacing my living room when she met me! Thankfully she was super sweet and so kind and great, but it was initially quite stressful! Labor was hard, but smooth and I never made a peep (you're welcome neighbors!). I labored in the birthing pool and then pushed on a birthing stool for about an hour before she was born at 6:17am! It was such a positive, uplifting experience. We are planning to start trying this summer for baby #2 and can't wait to work with them again. Malia is now 7 months old and such a fun, sweet lady. It's amazing how much your heart grows and how much you can love another person in ways you never imagined. Well, that's me! I am loving reading all your stories, they are beautiful! Anyone trying for their next or expecting?!

Name Maximus James
EDD 9/13
Born 9/13
Weight & Length 8lbs, 20.5 in
Gonna keep the story short and sweet.

Congratulations, S15 mamas!
Here is Susie at six days old. This is the best time of our lives!!
