  • @skruhmin I really feel terrible because the stupid monitor died and I know he was up and crying for a long time most likely.  His bedroom is far away from ours.

On a happier note, I get my hair done on Wednesday (it's bad...) so hopefully it'll help.  I usually flip my head over to dry my hair, and with the growing tummy, it's getting more interesting.
  • Kind of irritated at my doctors office....I show up for my glucos test and my doctor is telling me how we are only doing it now since I'm a little higher risk....I was like well at the high risk appointment they told me that everything was fine. So my doctor is like oh awesome we never heard back from them! Soooo you didn't think to give them a call and check on that or what?
  • @skruhmin LOVE your new sign and live Hobby Lobby too! And Kirklands! The whole hair issue, I just cut mine from the middle of my back to right above my shoulders lol. I was so tired of the headaches from piling it up on top of my head.

I hope it makes you feel a little better - we were trying to do cry it out with DS2 and he just would not stop crying - it was more fussing than anything (one of his grumpier phases and he HAD been sleeping through the night for a month).  I finally went back there and he had majorly peed out of his diaper and through the sheets.  DS2 is our major pee-er.  I felt like a horrible mommy because he was just trying to communicate!!

My guiltiest mommy moment was when DS was about a year old. We were trying to eliminate night time bottles and wake ups and I let him cry for 5 mins in the middle of the night and then he went back to sleep. When he woke up a few hours later I discovered he had a really bad diarrhea diaper and it irritated his penis and it was all red. It was so red and I felt so bad we went to the pedi for it. I felt horrible!

Morning sickness at 21 weeks? Really baby? Not cool at all..

This is why we've (despite DH's grumpiness about it) never done crying it out with DS, and if I hear him, I go up and get him, because he's always been such an honest crier (not just an I miss you cry but if he cries it's a distress cry - he sleeps so well that if he cries I know something is wrong, be it a diaper blowout, or teething/leap week/ear infection).  I'm a little worried that this new LO will become the great manipulator thanks to DS's training me...

ETA having a video monitor also has made a huge difference in deciding if it's a legitimate cry and the bed is wet, a midnight fuss and back to sleep, or standing at the end of the crib losing his mind lol

ETAA yuck to morning sickness... Hope it vanishes quickly.

  • And a glaring 'you need to watch your language' moment, DS has spent the morning saying "Fuh! Fuh!"  I keep telling myself he's just practicing a new sound, when in reality, I may have been dropping the eff bomb a little too often lately in front of him.  I have gotten really good at using "Cheese and crackers!" instead of exclaiming "Jesus Christ!"  My students think I'm so weird.  Now I just need to get back to using my letters "EFG!" instead of eff bombs...

I dropped the monitor for ours when we were still using it for DS and the screen broke. Luckily he was already sleeping in a twin bed and was old enough we could stop using it because he would just come into our room if he woke up. I will be investing in another good one this time. No idea how people live without them!

DS has been potty trained since he was 2 1/2 but still sleeps in pullups at night. I haven't been pushing night time training but the last few days he has been asking to sleep in underwear. I told him that he could if he went all week without peeing in the bed (through his pullup) or in his pullup. This morning I was proud when he told me he didn't pee in the bed or his pullup. I really hope this is it because it would be sooo nice to be done with pullups by four (in a few weeks)!

  • @oceanchild I think I saw someone suggest setting the bird in cold water to help thaw if it is necessary?? Glad your LO is on the mend and hope your cold clears up quickly!

  • I think I had a few Braxton hicks yesterday. I was very active this weekend doing yard work, cleaning house and serving a thanksgiving meal for church plus I think I got dehydrated (which I read can bring in Braxton hicks). Since I am a ftm I'm not sure if I'm just making it up. I really don't know. I hate feeling so clueless.
  • @skruhmin Here is a cooking calculator on the butterball website. Maybe that will help. It also has a thaw calculator. https://www.butterball.com/calculators-and-conversions

What did it feel like?  Sounds like it.  If they come on again and are bothersome, definitely water water water, sit down, put your feet up.  Or lay down on left side.  Mine usually feel like my uterus is being squeezed with the Jaws of Life.

My cat is back! I'm not really a cat person at all, I find them all to be kinda bitchy, but since we live on a farm we have a handful of farm cats to keep the rodent population under control. My favorite cat, our tomcat, had been gone for like two months. I was convinced he was gone forever, either eaten by coyotes, or decided to move on with his little cat life and find a new home. It's not unusual for our cats to take an occasional short hiatus from the farm, but generally they're back in a week, if they're coming back. I'm just glad to see him alive, he's fatter than ever and still thinks people are a little shady (which is why I like him, our other cats are attention whores). I could've cried when I saw him on the front steps cuddled up with our dog, his BFF. Ugh, these pregnancy hormones are giving me too many feels, dumb cat... I'll probably even have to name him after this.

I so understand this. I'm not a cat person at all but I also had a a favorite barn cat. My nephew named one of the kittens Luke Sky Walker and then the kitten turned out to be a girl and we just kept that name. I don't know if I just liked it for the name or what but she ended up sticking around much longer than many of the other cats.

It felt like mild menstral cramping that only lasted about 2-3 min and my belly got very hard. I have also been having irregular bowels so maybe it was that too... Either way I was not a fan and told DH I'm going to take it easy today before all the holiday madness begins.

My mother in law insisted that we buy 20 lbs for only 11 people and I think she is crazy. The sides are everyone's favorite anyways. If you are really stressed about it you could just get a small ham or something but I'm sure you are fine... 1 lb of turkey per person is ALOT of turkey to eat.
  • My mom always gets a 22-lb turkey  for 15-18 people and we always have a TON left over.  I know I only eat 2 slices of turkey - a pound of turkey per person seems like way too much (and I know that's including the bones too).

and here i am feeling kind of ridiculous for our GIANT turkey for just the 5 of us (three of whom are 5 and under) LMAO
but i fully plan on eating turkey sandwich leftovers for every meal the following week, and trying my hand at making some sort of turkey stew/soup (i saw one on Tasty that didn't look like it was too difficult for me, so maybe i will not screw up) :)

I think you are fine! I think 2-3 slices is the average serving and that's not even close to being a pound. Even with bones included in the weight you should have plenty of turkey unless you were planning on feeding people turkey sandwiches the day after.

This is a very valid point. Looking to a turkey vendor for advise on how much turkey to buy is kind of like asking a used car salesman to pick out the car you should buy!
