I saw a graphic on fb earlier that said 1/2 pound of mashed potatoes per person. Like, seriously? My cousin was commenting that the 1 bottle of wine per person seemed crazy, but I'm over here like, THAT much mashed potatoes??? Of course, I can always rationalize wine. I mean, if you host a 6 hour event (which ours usually is), then 4 glasses over 6 hours seems reasonable enough to me.... But I like to drink.

A bottle of wine a person sounds about right to me! Haha but I'm with you on liking to drink. My husband always makes way too many potatoes because he loves them! My mom always taught me if they are average/large size potatoes, 1 potato per adult and half a potato per kiddo. But with all the other sides you could get away with even a lower ratio.
Ok poll time. I have 2 and a half hours left before I need to go pick DS up from daycare. I need to be productive within that time frame. Should I -
- focus on speed cleaning the house and doing laundry? This will be difficult, however, because the urge to organize my closets and do other totally mess-creating things is strong today.
- go walk the mall and find cute outfit for DS and scope out potential Christmas presents?
- go grocery shopping and make holiday chex mix and a tasty dinner?

We do one potato per person and then an extra one or two. A bottle of wine per person sounds about right unless you family likes to turn up like mine hahaha. We are going to my grandpas in the middle of nowhere and I told my husband to get 2 12 packs of beer for himself since the store is about 30-40 minutes away.
Got a call from MIL at lunch (usually when she calls during the work day, it's not a good thing). DS1 was convinced he could just eat popsicles all day long. So she asked if he wanted to see what mommy would say (we are ALWAYS on the same page with food). Uh yeah, no way dude, you need some protein. He tried though! At least they're Outshine bars - all fruit/fruit juice. He had two sympathy popsicles due to DS2's busted lip from falling today. He's a really good brother

I love my little sister to death but she is killing me. She is visiting and this is the first time she has seen me since I've been pregs and I can't even cough without her saying "are you okay?" Then I told her I wanted to be lazy which she automatically took as a sign that I'm not feeling well. She also has a lot of random advise for me about being pregnant even though she has never been. I'm trying so hard to be patient.
Time to go pregnant rage on her @JLaVO888 I can't stand that. Just let me be lazy. I won't be able to be lazy in a few months. I need to now for my sanity!!!

@skruhmin I'm venting to you so I don't explode on her. I don't see her very often and don't want to ruin the holiday week with her. It's taken me three days to get her to believe that it's okay for her to touch my belly firmly. She is so excited to be an aunt and wants to touch my belly all the time which wouldn't bug me if she didn't do this weird poke thing like she is touching a fuzzy poisons caterpillar.
OMG my mother enjoys making me cry! At least this time she is too
Back in June, she had to put her two long-time doggies down. Both were put down within 2 weeks of each other. The first one his abdominal cavity filled with so much fluid he was no longer eating and the vet couldn't get it to stop (this dog was 11). Then 2 weeks later the 13 year old had a stroke and was no longer able to walk/hold his own weight on his legs. By August, she was begging for a new doggy, so we went to the SPCA and she adopted a cute terrier mix and renamed him Oliver. She has always felt that she needs dogs in sets of 2 but my stepfather told her just one to start. Oliver is a beautiful addition to the family. He is a sweet cuddler, and he loves to pick on/play with my doxie.
Now this past Friday, my mother's 14 year old cat died unexpectedly. My mom has been beside herself- meanwhile before this happened she was working on my stepdad for doggy number 2. Well guess what- stepdad went to the SPCA and got her the next dog she had been eyeing. He is the same age as Oliver, and is a poodle mix his name is Bentley, but I think they are going to rename him Oscar and stepdad is running around calling them the Oh Boys lol! This dog was left at the SPCA because his owners "didn't want to take care of him" anymore (I'm a fan of their fb page so I see them all the time too). My mother is still at work so she has yet to go home to see him (they took Oliver to the SPCA did a test run on Saturday with Bentley/Oscar at the dog park and they got along great- but my stepdad played the "still not convinced" role to fake her out) so she is crying but all the videos and pics they are sending me are making me cry too! Problem is I work the front desk while my mother is a HHA and watches Old people all day! Her patient is sleeping, so she is a bawling mess, and I am too but I have to try and hide it while people are in and out lol. I'm so happy she has her new furbabies
As for the others, she has decided since the kitty was the last of her old "gang", she is going to take all their urns (5 altogether), place them in a big box and bury them all together in the back yard. So she is still upset over having to do that but I think it will give her the closure she needs and she will be able to enjoy her new babies
Talk about stupid things to cry over!

Here is Oliver- and once I get a good pic of Bentley/Oscar I will share that one too Poor Oliver was at the SPCA for over a month- was caught and brought in as a stray with his sister. She got adopted right away but he did not (he is partially deaf). My mom didn't care- she walked in, set her money down and said "sight on scene- I want him!"
Ew tummy touches. I had so many unwanted feelers this weekend.
Yay for dogs! I wish I has the patience for more animals but I do not.
I think I've started into the nesting phase. I was coming up with all of these different ways to clean and get organized before baby gets here. I told my husband it's a thing and he was like...okay sure. He just text me that a co worker mentioned Nesting so now he believes me
@SarahFoley725 Right there with you on the nesting thing. Worked on baby's nursery this weekend. We are doing DIY board and batten, but just the batten since we have smooth walls. I also went off on a tangent to DH about all of these things that need to be done and he dared mentioned that I wasn't exactly in a hurry to do them BEFORE I was pregnant. Ummmm no shit! Now we have this baby deadline looming and I'd like to take care of things we can before that. The fact that some men don't get the whole nesting thing is so weird to me.
ETA in progress nursery room pic (if it works, I'm a little mobile illiterate)

It didn't work for me but I'm on mobile too!
It's funny because DH is worse than me about it. "He's like oh gotta get the kitchen cabinets redone gotta do this and that why haven't we bought nursery paint yet?!" Gotta love those men.
Hi guise! Hope you're all well Took me a while to catch up. I this thread! On the topic of thanksgiving food - if anyone has an easy but delicious recipe for apple crisp or apple crumble, send it my way!!
Our stroller/travel system got delivered yesterday. It's my V-day tomorrow. Baby kicks like crazy. Yet it still doesn't feel real. I've nothing tangible to compare having a baby to. I still can't believe I will have a son or daughter in a few short months!! Anyone ever feel like that as a ftm?
Also-did you see the new bump product?? An attempt to obliterate repeat threads! Wowsers!!
@ecwk every time I add a kid, I can't even imagine what it's like for our family to be one bigger. You will never know true unconditional love until you hold your baby the first time. It's seriously unreal.

Anyone else experiencing pregnancy carpel tunnel?? This crap is painful along with the sinus infection I'm miserable and have to travel 9 hours tomorrow. Why haven't we built teleportation devices yet?

Not yet (knock on wood), but last pregnancy it was awful - I had to sleep in wrist braces. But I had horrible swelling during 3rd tri.

Progress is good! We have yet to start on the nursery since DH is still using it as an office at the moment. Hopefully in super early Jan possibly next month! I have everything just need to paint and move it in. Love the dresser!
