November IUIs

Hi ladies!

I checked around to see if there was a thread I could check-in with other ladies that are cycling around the same timeline as I am and didn't see one!

We're doing Clomid/trigger/IUI this month. Currently waiting for CD1, on day two of Provera. This is our first go at treatment so I'm super anxious and nervous. Trying to take deep breaths and keep myself busy! I'd love to get to know you ladies that are doing similar cycles!

Thanks! No, I don't cycle on my own hardly at all. So I'm used to the Provera waiting game...it's just a bummer because this is our first time using meds so we're both anxious to see how my body reacts and just hoping for the best!

  • Hi ladies. I'd love to join you. I'm on cd 6 or 7. Not sure if the dr counted my day of spotting as cd 1 or not. Usually they don't but I'm coming off a very messed up cancelled cycle. Anyway I started clomid and gonal f on Thursday and go in for my first check Wednesday. Iui number 3 hopefully next week.
  • @rachlee2010 welcome! I am assuming they aren't counting your day of spotting as they only count my first day of full bleeding as day one. Good luck to you!
  • Well, IUI #3 is in the books. I am putting this one in St. Ann's capable hands and am going to focus on the events we have coming up over the next few weeks. I have booked myself pretty solid, we are going to see the Long Island Mdium and Meat Loaf (because apparently I will do anything for love), starting Christmas shopping with Mom on Wednesday, TG dinner with friends and a cooking class over the weekend, an outting scheduled with my cousin and her kiddo and working... its going to be a positve few weeks.

Good luck to everyone this month!!

What are you doing to make you TWW a little bit faster?

  • @vssbrm I'm certainly not doing as much as you but I'm trying to keep busy myself to pass time.  I'm doing better this cycle than last month during my TWW.  I work Monday-Friday and serve at my church 1 Wednesday & 2 Sunday's a month.  This Wed and my first Sunday fall this week which helps.  I'd like to tap into my creative side and do some costuming this weekend if I can - we shall see!

I have so been there! I do t cycle on my own either. This cycle it felt like u had to fight with my RE to get the provera prescription. They wanted me to wait a few days longer. I was like NOOO!!!! So annoying. Luckily AF started about 10 days after starting provera. And IF I have do do another IUI next month i SHOULD cycle naturally as we have confirmed ovulation! Good luck with your first medicated cycle! Let us know when you get started :)

Oh my gosh I did the SAME thing! My husband works swing shifts so we are trying to time everything down to the day so I was like, just give me the scrip--I know my body better than you people! haha
Today was day 4 of the provera and in the past I have started on day 9 of it as far as a week after so I'm praying it comes sooner rather than later!

    Thanks so much!

  • Glad there's a thread for this!  I will be (hopefully) doing my first IUI this month!  My RE is recommending Follistim injections (not sure why he didn't want to put me on oral meds first, but I will ask...).  Our injection class is tomorrow afternoon!  I'm currently on CD15 and waiting for CD1 so I can go in for baseline ultrasound and get the party started!  I'm usually a 26 or 27 day cycle, so I'm hoping for an IUI around the week of Thanksgiving.  Hope to be able to get to know you ladies and offer up some support!

  • @purplepeony31 good luck timing everything. I honestly think that is one of the most stressful parts of a cycle. My husband travels a lot for his full time job and he is also in the national guard which take a him away one weekend a month. I am always so worried it wi be time to trigger when he is gone!!! This cycle he has to leave CD16-CD19. I was panicked as this was my first cycle with my current medication regiment and had no idea when I would O. Luckily we are only at CD13 and the IUI is DONE. Ugh I was so worried I was about to have time start banking so we could do a frozen cycle just in case...
  • Hi ladies ! I would like to join here. I was supposed to have my first IUI in October but my follicles did not grow on time so hopefully I will have my IUI this month.
This is my story : I have PCOS. This cycle I used 2.5mg Letrozole on CD3-7 then 5mg Letrozole on CD14-18. We tried 2.5mgletrozole+TI for the last two cycles without monitoring (OPK only) and doctors thought that I ovulated according to my progesterone levels, OPK and periods.
Today is CD 22 ( I think my cycle is messed up) and I finally had one growing follicle around 15.5mm . Dr thought that this shows a response. But my lining is still on the thin side (5.5mm). I have to go back and see if the follicle and lining is growing. I do not know if I should be happy that my body started to respond or worried that this response wont be enough.

@wifeinraleigh28 I am also wondering when or in which condition the REs switch to injectables, please let me know if you have an answer.

Good luck everyone with their IUI cycle , I hope this is the month !
  • Hi ladies, I'd officially like to join this discussion too.  My story is very similar to ZoeFer's.  I too have PCOS, and my first monitored and medicated IUI cycle was suppose to be in October but turns out it will be in November.  I started with 50MG Clomid CD3-7, which resulted in very small follies (10mm was the largest), then started 100MG Clomid CD15-19.  Today's (CD20) u/s showed some growth (14mm and 12mm in right ovary).  Going back on Thursday for another u/s.  Dr. seemed hopeful that we will trigger on Thursday (with the hope that the 14 will be matured) and do IUI Friday and Saturday :-D

@ZoeFer I'm so happy that you're finally responding and have a growing follie.  FX that we can both trigger very soon and do IUI.

GL to all of the other ladies here too doing IUI and those that may have started their TWW.

    IUI #3 - 07/2016 - 100MG Clomid + Ovidrel = BFN
    IUI #4 - 08/2016 - 100MG Clomid + Ovidrel = ???

  • Hi Ladies - joining as well. I am doing a natural cycle this month and going for my tubal cantilization procedure this month. I have completed two IUIs with no success.
  • @ZoeFer I will post on here once I get a straight answer about this (orals versus injects). I'm pretty concerned about it. I went to my clinic today for a class on how to do the injections and to learn about the steps for the entire IUI procedure and I asked about it and the nurse said that I was probably prescribed injections right off the bat due to low AMH levels and/or other ovulating issues. Well that's funny because my AMH levels came back normal and my HSG (the only other test I've had) also came back normal. I also have completely regular cycles. After I told her this she said that was odd then, and told me to email my RE directly and ask him about it. I really don't want to get in a situation where I'm being aggressively medicated when it's not needed! :(( The reason we're doing an IUI is because of low sperm count. Could that be it? I'm not a doctor so I don't know, but maybe they want me to produce multiple follies because of low sperm count? Ugh, I don't know, but I will let you know when I hear back from my RE!

  • I'm hopping in on here too. Today is CD2, and I was cleared to started my last injectables cycle (just a small cyst this time, phew). Probably doing TI, but we're leaving open the IUI possibility and will make a game time decision. If this doesn't work, I'll take a break while my coworker is onmaternity leave (gotta love that) before starting IVF in late Feb or early March. So, fingers crossed for this round!! I start gonal-f 100iu tomorrow afternoon and go in for my first monitoring on Saturday morning.

To the ladies asking about when a doctor switches to injects, I'll give you my experience: I did 2 unmonitored rounds of Clomid with my OB. I did a monitored natural cycle with my RE after that and actually had 2 mature follicles (shocking). Because Clomid 50mg didn't work for me with my OB, my RE put me on 100mg for the "Clomid Challenge". Despite ovulating on my own, I only produced 1 mature follicle and it thinned my lining. My RE said, based on those results, oral ovulation induction just wouldn't work for me and injectables should be my next step. I have also heard of switching to injects after 3 rounds of oral induction fail.

Good luck to everyone! Let's take home some BFPs!!

  • Hi Ladies..I went in for my cd8 check today.  Things are looking good. I was super nervous as I didn't respond at all to the meds last cycle.  This month i have 2 follicles growing nicely and a 3rd that might catch up by the IUI.  The dr is having me start taking estrace vaginally to thicken up my lining and he is waiting gfor my bloodwork but his guess is two more shots of tonal f tonight and tomorrow night, trigger on Friday and IUI on sunday.
  • @riveridgional Thank you for sharing your experience with oral meds and injections... sounds like a lot of ladies start with the orals and then switch if they are unsuccessful.

@ZoeFer and anyone else who is interested, I did hear back from my RE today about this issue.  He told me he's recommending injections right away for a few reasons... they are twice as effective, he wants to get me pregnant before any flair ups (I have a lupus diagnosis that has been in remission for several years), and because of my husband's low sperm count.  I'm going to take his word for it!  If he thinks this has a better shot at working, I'm in.

  • Hello there!

I'm waiting for CD1 but plan to do IUI this cycle if all goes well. I have PCOS and my husband has low motility. RE has put me on metformin, provera, synthroid and fermara for CD 3-7. This is our first go around with IUI and any fertility drugs so hoping it's the golden ticket.
    Hoping for BFPs for everyone!

  • @wifeinraleigh28 Yes, my doctor told me Clomid would give a max chance of 10% and injectables of 20%. These are chances he gave me based on my unexplained diagnosis. It is supposed to produce more eggs and eggs of higher quality. Best of luck to you!

  • @riveridgional and @wifeinraleigh28 thanks for sharing your experiences and hopefully I did not make you feel uncomfortable with asking. GL to you both with your cycles !
I had shared my concerns about taking too much drugs when we first started to see my doctor. I was way too optimistic about my body back then. And now I am afraid whether he is more conservative about the drugs because of me. But as the cycles go by, I am getting very nervous and at this point I am ready whatever I should take to ovulate and get pregnant. I think I will talk to him again if this cycle does not work.
  • Welcome to all the ladies starting their cycles and GL to growing mature follies!

Went in for CD22 u/s...have one follie at 18mm :-D.  My first medicated cycle and I'm so happy to have grown a follicle lol.  Will be triggering tomorrow night and have IUIs scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.  It's DW birthday on Saturday and this is a nice present for the both of us.  I had lost hope that this cycle wasn't going to happen after waiting since September to start but it's finally here...even if it's not successful, at least we know now that I am able to TTC (always has been a fear that I would physically be unable to since my cycles were so very sporadic).

@ZoeFer has your follie matured?  FX that you will trigger soon too!  I know we've been going through this cycle together and have been responding almost identically. GL!! :-D

  • I just had my iui done one week ago after having one measurable follicle at 21 and doing a round of Femara. I am now in 1ww! My doctor told me that people with PCOS respond better to Femara . I was told I ovulated on day 21, but it's still possible to be pregnant. Has anyone had that happen, ovulating late?
  • @vnegron87 Thanks for asking. I am so happy to hear that you are ready for IUI ! It is just crazy that your and my cycles are synchronized like this. I had the u/s and bw this morning and my follicle was pretty big but do not know the exact size , I think around 20. And finally the lining got thicker to ~8mm. I do not know if it is still thin, because Dr had told me that they want it to be around 10mm. Anyways, I just got the call from the nurse and she said that I can trigger tonight and we ll do the IUI on Saturday.
I am little nervous that I have only one mature follicle, I see that people have 2-5 follicles but  I have read some IUI success stories with one follicle. I feel like this will be our first real chance for pregnancy so I am very excited.

    FX for everyone  !

  • lh060  I also have PCOS and used Letrozole/Femara for three cycles now. First two cycles, we did not monitor except ovulation predictor kit at home. First cycle I had my positive OPK at CD16, second cycle at CD19. And the progesterone levels (around 1w after positive OPK) were high. And my AF showed up around 15-16 days after positive OPK. So I think it is possible to ovulate late. But I think my body is responding less every cycle. This is my third cycle with Letrozole , first time monitored. My body showed no response until CD14 and they increased my dose and I had the second round of medication CD14-CD18. Then at CD 22 my follicle started to grow and estradiol went up. As far as I understand, if your follicle gets to a good size and your hormones are ready, the day of ovulation should not matter too much. At least I hope it does not .
    I hope this helps.
GL and FX for you !!
