Re: November IUIs

  • @wifeinraleigh28 - I've actually never heard of Carolina Conceptions. I started at UNC Fertility in Raleigh but then transferred to Duke in Durham since it's a bit closer to me. I now see Dr. Price and he also doesn't have the best personality but seems to know his stuff. Plus he's really good at responding to messages, which is reassuring since I ask a LOT of questions! SO exciting to find someone local! Good luck on your first IUI cycle. Fingers crossed that it's successful!

  • @ZoeFer thanks for the hope! I went for bw and us today and things are better. My estrogen is 105 and LH dropped to 13 (today is day 10) and I have 20 follicles on each side(!!), the largest being 12mm. So I'm going back on Friday morning for bw and us. Guess I'm just a little slower this month which is good because my step kids are with us this week. Praying it all works out! Good luck to you @ZoeFer that your IUI was successful
  • Hi ,I'm right there with you! But I'm doing injectables/iui .Starting my second cycle tomorrow! Let me know when you get your cycle day 1 maybe we can be cycle buddies.
  • @jilligan14 - I'm sure you will receive excellent care at Duke!  What did you think of UNC Fertility when you were there?  I actually know someone personally who had success with them (had her baby with their first IUI attempt at that clinic).  I also know 2 people who gave birth recently who were patients of Carolina Conceptions.  I didn't do any prior research though, I just ended up there from a referral from my OBGYN who sent us there for SA.  It looks like we have some good clinics in our area!  And I agree, it's good to run into someone local! :)

  • @cmm012 I was worried about clomid, and I think the worst side effect I experienced was a few days of back of the head headaches each cycle.  I did not notice any particular effects on my mood.  I would say definitely do not be worried about talking to your RE about side effects that you might have.  Acupuncture can be an option to help counter some of the side effects, too.  Basically, one step at a time...and this is a big step.  GL!

  • I'm 5dpiui right now, used Serophene on days 3-7, ovidrel on cd12 and iui 36hrs later. Been battling unexplained infertility for over 5yrs, had an early loss in 2012 and haven't had a bfp since, this is our first iui. We had 4 mature follicles and hubby's contribution was fabulous, so we are hoping this is our month!
  • I woke up this morning thinking I was one week down. Not the case. It's been 5 days since the IUI. It has been a super weird week in general so I'm not surprised. In fact, I've been having weird dreams (not uncommon) and had one the other night that my family was throwing me a baby shower and i kept saying, "guys I'm not even pregnant!" And they were insistent on giving me presents. (I also had a chase dream were I ended up hanging out with my enemies.)

I think my subconscious is overwhelmed :)
  • I had my follicle check today and had one on the left of 19mm. Planning to trigger on Friday, IUI on Saturday! Last month I had three follicles on the same dosage (100mg Clomid) but happy with whatever I can get at this point.

  • Hello ladies,
I had been around these boards a few months ago but took some time off for a couple trips. I am finally back and ready to get on track :)

Today is CD1 and I am prepping for a letrozole, follistim, trigger be IUI cycle. This is the first time we adding injectibles to the mix. My last cycles never made it to IUI because I never got a follicle over 10mm on just clomid or just letrozole. I am excited to try adding the injectibles so we can finally have our first IUI!

Sending baby dust to everyone and looking forward to hopefully hearing about lots of BFPs!

Does she want me to produce more follicle maybe? Hoping maybe this will increase my chance of conceiving this cycle??? Hope we all get our BFPs soon!!!

  • @ErikaMG awesome!!! Can't wait. Mine will be either Saturday or Sunday.
  • Baseline tomorrow!!
  • What a rollercoaster this month has been...I went on day 3 and found things were looking good, with 14 and 22 follicles on left and right, respectively.  I went on day 8 again for BW and US because Femara tends to have me ovulating early and my estrogen hadn't increased since day 3, though my LH was high.  I went back on day 10 and my estrogen had increased and my LH had fallen, and I have 20 follicles on each side.  Today I went back and my estrogen fell from 105 to 86 and I still have lots of follicles but one is emerging as dominant at 16mm.  I'm heading back on Saturday morning but boy I sure don't feel very hopeful that things will work out for this month and it seems like such a waste to be there multiple times...anyone have an idea what would cause estrogen and LH to fluctuate so much?
  • @Drove2u awesome, I'm so happy that you've finally started your next cycle, GL and FX.
I'm current 4 days into TWW and its taking FOREVER!! Trying to set small goals (just make it to Friday, once the weekend is here next weekend will be right around the corner). Sometimes its hard for me too because DW's way of dealing with it is by pretending it hasn't happened and time will fly... i tell her that's easier said than done....she doesn't get it lol

    IUI #4 - 08/2016 - 100MG Clomid + Ovidrel = ???

  • I had my 2nd IUI 11/7. 2 cycles in between so been at this for 4 months. I took Follistim for a week and Ovidrel to trigger. 2 good looking follicles 21 and 18. I am praying for a BFP! I see all these drug addict/crack heads having kids and doing terrible things to them all over the news and a loving couple who is wanting a baby so badly who would treat them the way they should be hasn't had any luck in almost 2 years!! ugh
  • @cnheibler I hear ya about the injustice of ppl having babies when they don't even take care of themselves. It's heartbreaking! Where's the master plan in that? In many cases it just perpetuates a cycle. I know life ain't fair but I wish it was.
  • I even pity party myself when non drug addicts but unhealthy people get pregnant. Like one girl I work with who has thyroid issues and is overweight got pregnant on the first try. Of course I'm happy for her too but how could she get pregnant and I can't? That has been really hard for me because we're friends too and I have to listen to her and see her everyday. She has no idea what I'm going through and I don't want to tell her. But now that I'm starting this new cycle finally I'm feeling way more positive that my time will come soon.

Well the results of my beta was a BFN. We decided with our doctor to do a combined cycle with Femara and Clonal-F injections followed by an iui . This will be iui#2

  • @lh060 so sorry for your bfn. It's not unusual for it not to work the first time so fingers crossed for the next cycle.

I just went for my baseline. The doc said my ovaries are beautiful. Lol. But he wants me to go for a hysteroscopy. Ugh so annoying. So waiting for the call for my blood results now.
  • @Drove2u & @ErikaMG I have my baseline this morning too! Cycle buddies?

I have yet to actually make it to IUI because my ovaries haven't been responsive to clomid or Femara alone. This will be my first cycle adding Follistim, we are starting at 75iu after 5 days of Femara. Really hoping this gets my follicles growin! I have yet to see one get over 10mm.

Good luck to you both! Hope everything looks good today :)

  • I was so hoping to go in for my baseline today... turns out af decided not to arrive on time like usual (UGH).  I started spotting yesterday evening around 7pm, had a little early this morning, and now nothing.  My appointment was at 10am today so I called my RE at 8:15 and asked to reschedule for first thing Monday morning.  In my mind the sooner af comes the sooner I can have my IUI and the sooner I have a chance at getting a BFP.

I'm in a lousy mood and having a really difficult time staying positive and hopeful.  I just did a google search and found a website that said our chances of getting pregnant from an IUI with an MFI issue is only 3-6%.  How am I supposed to keep my hopes up going into our IUI this cycle?!  Our RE told us 16-18%... I'm hoping this website is wrong wrong WRONG!! :(

I need to stop googling just to keep myself sane.

  • Yes stop googling @wifeinraleigh28 it'll drive you crazy. How many iuis have you done already? Is Ivf an option for you?
  • I had to make myself compare apples to apples when finding articles on Google. Did the article specify the type of male infertility? Low sperm count vs motility vs hormonal, etc?

I hope the article is wrong @wifeinraleigh28 and FX for your BFP!

U/S and bloodwork were both good, we are a go! I will be taking 7.5 of Femara for days 3-7 and then starting 75iu of Follistim days 8 and 9 and then I have an ultrasound scheduled for day 10/next Saturday to check progress. Very excited!

  • @Drove2u - this will be our first IUI.  I'm just getting started with fertility treatments and I'm terrified of how hard this is going to be for us.  IVF is an option for sure, but I just don't know how we are going to swing it financially, which is also getting me down.

@PCOSbaby - it was an article written by a fertility clinic, and the chart showed success rates depending on the number of motile sperm.  In my DH's first SA he had 6.8 million motile sperm and in his second he had 5 million motile sperm :(  I'm thinking IVF will be our best shot.

  • Today is my day 14 and I have one follicle at 18mm but LH isn't surging yet so I'm going again tomorrow for US and BW. Fingers crossed it all works out for this month cause my estrogen is still kind of low (130).
  • @wifeinraleigh28 I think everyone copes differently. What I do is literally not think about it every second of my life. I go in for my appts, stay busy, get my results and then move on. If you start obsessing it gets rough. I also don't talk about it constantly with my husband. So we can go on and have a normal marriage. I tell him my results and that's about it. Not sure if that's helpful. He also doesn't go to any of my appointments with me. And I like it that way. It makes it not that big of a deal then.
  • Thanks @Drove2u that sounds like a wonderful way to handle things.  Being able to compartmentalize like that sounds like a dream.  Let it be what it is, since we don't have control over the results anyway, and focus on other things.  I like it!
