I may not be the 1st person who's heard this but I just had to share because I feel like we encounter a lot of them on tb and life in general lol.
Askhole- Someone that repeatedly asks for advice but does the opposite or gets mad at the advice given.

Ohhhh man this is perfect! I had a friend that was a MAJOR askhole that I recently had to clip out of my life. So toxic and tiring.
@cmerribury Your siggy has me lol-ing at my desk. Love that you are shaming your rooster!
ETA: @SarahFoley725 HUGS! Thinking of you. I'd say try not to think about it, but I know that's impossible. Maybe today is an unofficial Treat Yo Self day?
@SarahFoley725 I'm sorry, sweets. Hang in there. Not sure if it's something you're willing to try, but if so you could try to do a few quick meditations today...I use calm.com (from my computer) and the calm app (on my phone). They are guided and can be as short as 5 minutes, and REALLY helped me stay chill before we got our all clear results from the genetic specialist.
FFC it's probably a bad thing the my son's Halloween loot is just sitting out in the open for me to enjoy today. And baby suddenly has a sweet tooth. Totally unrelated these peanut butter M&Ms are fabulous.

@cmerribury Your siggy has me lol-ing at my desk. Love that you are shaming your rooster!
LOL, glad you like it! I'm actually totally shaming my neighbor's rooster...he's really pissing me off lately. He's still a "teenager" so he's still practicing his crow. Which means he does it ALL THE BLOODY TIME. It does crack me up, though, because sometimes his "voice" cracks like a little teenage boy halfway though, which is way more hilarious than it sounds. Between that and their bull calf who's being weaned, I'm at my breaking point with the super loud barnyard noises. Grrr...
So we made our own "ok to wake clock" for our 4-year old. We hooked up a Christmas light timer to a night light and he can come out of his room when it turns on - 6:30 (he'd be in our room at 5:30 if we didn't). Welp totally forgot to change the time for yesterday morning so he did come into our room at the new 5:30. I changed the time for this morning and starting at 5:45 he kept coming out, extremely worried that it wasn't working. Funny boy stated at 6:30 that "Daddy, you were right! It did come on!" Can we get that in writing for later down the road? It's funny how fixated he gets on things.

So who else is getting ridiculously excited for Christmas?!? I've been stalking bfads.net for Black Friday deals every day. Not much is there yet, but I can't wait! Anyone else going to brave the crowds this year? I did it at 31 weeks pregnant with DD2. This year, I'll only be like 24. Piece of cake. ;-)
Love all the pet shaming! (Although many of them make me happy I don't have a dog. Haha.)

I am!!! We already watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation last night lol! I'm not big for Black Friday (I worked retail for one year and that totally SUCKED!) but I'm all for online ordering and cyber Monday!
February Siggy Challenge- Post pregnancy indulgences
Nope we'll be doing Cyber Monday if we do anything. We're in need of a new tv and thankfully Costco does all of their Black Friday pricing a few weeks in advance.

I am getting so tired of this argument. Why are we comparing someone having life saving skills being available to help in these situations, to being able to buy a $20 T-shirt for $12.50??? The ironic thing about who usually posts this are people who grew up in family's where someone had one of these jobs. I always get the vibe they felt jilted as a kid, so they feel entitled to cause everyone to feel that way...
That's because you're not on facebook, @kynbar5. Haha. It's a whole thing. But I'm confused about why it's being brought up in this thread. Did anyone say anything about stores being open on Thanksgiving? Or is OP just venting since we're on the topic of Black Friday in general?
Married 7.29.05 :: DD1 5.11.10 :: DD2 1.23.13 :: Baby Boy due 3.13.16!
@kynbar5 It's basically people saying that people in retail shouldn't complain about having to work Black Friday (and now Thanksgiving) as other professions (like the ones listed in the meme) have always worked these holidays/time of year.
I've heard it before but I never pay attention because there are always people complaining about something, whether it be the people working in retail complaining about their hours to the people complaining about the people complaining lol.
Lol ok, now I got it! Add that to the list of reasons I'm not on fb! ETA- I think these days you just have to be happy to actually have a job! But yes, people will always find something to complain about.

Its the nature of the job you choose, IMO. You get into emergency personnel knowing you will get called out to work those holidays and are paid accordingly. The same goes for retail though. You know what you are getting into when you choose to work in that field. The Thanksgiving one I can kind of understand, only because even when I worked in retail we were closed that day., but Black Friday is NOT a holiday. That is your job.
February Siggy Challenge- Post pregnancy indulgences
@charley15 100% agreed - both with the whole it goes with the profession you chose AND retail workers having the right to get frustrated with being open on Thanksgiving but NOT black Friday. It's been around for years and years now, it's not like it's new.
@JLaVO888 and @SarahFoley725 those dreams are awesome! Hope everyone is feeling better I missed a lot! Yesterday was my late bestie's birthday, and we spent the weekend with my family. Kids had a blast T-or-T'ing though! Before we left, and then the last house - Clare was so exhausted by the end had to carry her (and all 3 pails) back home LOL. They racked up though!
Black Friday is a little UO of mine, but I also grew up in a town where every grocery store was closed on Sundays. But of course, nowadays I don't bat an eyelash at Walmarts and Taco a Bells being open all night long.
Yeah, Black Friday is just a normal work day if you're in retail. It always has been. I grew up with an ICU nurse for a Mom, and we often had to celebrate Christmas on random days because she worked that day if she could (time and a half!) but I do feel bad for some who have worked for stores for years only to have them decide to open on Thanksgiving within the last few years.
I don't know, I'm sure it's just me, but shopping on Thanksgiving is the last thing I want to do. Black Friday? Sure. But not on Thanksgiving.
being a SAHM was the first time i had a job where i was "off" on holidays (not counting my first job, where i worked in a specialty photo lab). as a vet tech, holidays were that absolute busiest craziest days ever bc of the million dogs and cats (and other pets) being boarded that needed to be walked and fed and cages cleaned out, in the morning AND afternoon. serious chaos. and that isn't even one of these public service type jobs. then working in orthopaedics, i was on call almost every year on the holidays. super fun to get called away from Thanksgiving dinner (not with my family out of town) to go operate on that drunk uncle who thought it was a good idea to ride the ATV in the mud after all that beer and broke his femur. but it is what i signed up for and it never really bothered me. IDK. i just shrug. i did see that REI is going to be closed on BF so that employees can spend the day with their familes (and "go outside" or something - it was a nice sentiment).
all that to say, i certainly don't lose my mind over someone's work schedule (unless it involves the shoddy maternity leave here that some sweet mamas don't even get - i think that is kind of messed up).

So, I think I'm coming down with something now to. Ds woke me up coughing and getting sick everywhere last night. I always feel so bad for him when he vomits, he gets scared and you see it in his eyes and hear it in his screams that he is not only sick but truly scared. And when he is covered in sick and I am sick as well, just taking of his pj's makes me gag, let alone holding him and giving him comfort the way I want to. I ended up turning on the shower and stripping us both down and taking him in with me. Kept the mess contained and freshened us up. Now, Dh wants food and ds and I want nothing to do with it. Go figure that he would sit nest to me with salsa and chips and when I wined about the smell he complains that I didn't make him breakfast.
So I'm on walmart.com, looking up Christmas stuff my kid said she would like as presents. Well...of course she wants a Zippy sack, one of those as seen on tv things. But some of the idiot stuff they make now amazes me! I want to buy a bunch of stuff to see if it actually works!
February Siggy Challenge- Post pregnancy indulgences
Love tit in solidarity for barfing babes @red3ye. DS had a big coughing fit then puke fest during dinner last night and I came in with a towel just as he started to scream in pain/fear. And I'd totally sock DH for complaining like that. Hand him the barf baby next time... Sheesh dude.
I have never shopped on Black Friday unless it was online. I worked at Forever 21 several years ago and I had to work in the freaking jewelry section on Black Friday. It's enough to make anyone go mad.
No black friday shopping ever for this girl! I can't stand all the crowds. I do look online for good deals on cyber monday! I am lucky that I have never worked in retail and that at my current job we close down for a week to a week and half at Christmas time so I don't ever have to work. It's a big perk and almost makes up for the lack of sick time (I just get vacation).
Also..if I can just make it to 3:30 I am leaving to get a massage. My back pain has been horrendous the last week or so, so I decided to treat myself. I am def not going to feel guilty about it since DH spent more money on deer corn this weekend.
The only thing I'm going to miss about my old job- having the same Christmas Vacation as my kid. However, I do get the 24th and 25 off, and the New Year's Day off. Since DD is at her father's that whole time, I won't be missing much. Its just going to be super boring here, with no students, no teachers, and NOTHING to do.

Just venting. Got into it with a woman on my FB feed. I'm glad it's not as unpopular of an opinion as I was expecting it to be! (And yeah, black Friday is just a regular day!) I teach dance classes for several daycares and I'm getting Wednesday-Friday off this year, due to their schedules. Fiancé works like every day ever because holidays mean sales for car dealerships. He gets Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas off guaranteed. Other than that? Lol fat chance.
I love Black Friday mostly because it's a bonding experience for my sisters and I. It's like a game. We strategize which stores to go to when and plot out our route and stand in line for each other and laugh at our sleep deprived stupidity. We haven't been crushed by an angry mob yet, and usually find people to be fun and nice. (Except at Wal-Mart. It's downright scary at Wal-Mart.) I wouldn't do it by myself. That'd be no fun. It's just fun to go with my sisters. And we're those evil people that shop on Thanksgiving. Now that we're all married, we spend every other year with our in-laws, and love the excuse to leave early and say, "Sorry. Gotta meet my sisters for shopping!" And on the years we're together, we plan our meal around the shopping. Haha. Go ahead and stone me, but I got my girls some great presents last year for killer deals!
Married 7.29.05 :: DD1 5.11.10 :: DD2 1.23.13 :: Baby Boy due 3.13.16!
I refuse to go Black Friday shopping. I'll happily do Cyber Monday or miss a few deals to avoid a lot of people lol. Even not pregnant me can't handle so many people in stores. The 1st person that runs over my heel with a buggy or bumps into me for the 53rd time like I wore my vanishing woman suit would get nut punched.

So I noticed when I went to lunch earlier today that my car was SPRAY PAINTED. Like, wtf?! I assume it happened last night and I just didn't notice it this morning. Guess who will be shifting things around in the garage so both cars can fit tonight?
I suppose I should be thankful it's just one looonnnggg line (driver's side back door all the way around the back) and not something profane?
