@KarasTwin Nope. Never did with DS either. Once he had teeth, we started "brushing" with a baby tooth brush and water. Spoiler alert: no matter what you do or when, your kid is going to hate having their teeth brushed.
@Sammy K I've been around a good many kids, I have 5 cousins that are much younger than me, my niece who is 2, as well as friends' kids and I have never heard of this. We do have an infant toothbrush that looks like a banana, maybe I'll try that. She didn't say what the purpose is so I'm confused

Just to clean, remove germs.. Same as teeth but if no teeth you can just wipe down with a wet washcloth .. They also sell these handy little rubber things you put on your finger with little soft nubs you can use on gums and/or teeth
I don't do the washcloth on the gums often but I probably do it maybe once a week? Every other? If I wipe his face down before bed I try to do it then. I heard its basically to wipe the residue of the formula or breastmilk off of the gums to pave the way for healthy oral care. Someone else said something about sugars in the mouth as a result of the milk or formula, too, but I don't remember. I just figure you know how dentists recommend we brush our teeth before bed because that's when the most damage happens to our teeth and gums if they are dirty...I'm applying the same reasoning, which is why I do it before bed
Honestly, I don't think any one 'medical' ever told me about it. The social worker that came to my house after he was born told me about it. I don't think I've read it in my baby book, either. I think this might be one of the things they don't tell you because they just expect you to know. Which I hate, because how am I supposed to know unless you tell me?!

^^^^^my exact thoughts. I wanted to say, how the hell am I supposed to know that?
I always tell my moms this before discharge, but I think I'm the only nurse that does and that's because I was an RDA, so don't feel bad if you weren't doing it... But it's a good habit to get into
Thanks for everyone's replies I'm going to start the Vaseline on his chin and see if he's happy with 2 naps and try to set this up while I'm home this week from work ;;)
@LaurenAnn0405, for chapped or potentially chapped skin, I started using some of the Earth Mama Angel Baby nipple butter I have. I figure it's safe on her face since it's safe on breastfeeding nipples. The chapped feeling went away within a couple days.
No advice on napping though...we're still struggling to get her to nap and when she does its barely 30 minutes. *sigh*
OK - eye color poll. Whose LO has eye color that has changed and whose has stayed the same or similar? I'm still intensely curious about if LO is going to keep his blues or not.
@mellymar my LO were deep blue when she was born and are now light blue. I'd say they are going to stay but we will see. Pedi said they can change up to a year.
Is anyone else's baby getting extremely frustrated in their inability to move? LO is cranky a lot because she wants to look at stuff but can't move herself. And when I assist, it's still never exactly what she wants. Lots of arm and leg movements ending in whining. Her ambition is exceeding her abilities right now. I'm exhausted from constantly keeping her moving!
@mellymar Good question! I was just thinking about this too. We thought LO was going to keep blue, but they're starting to turn gray with gold centers, which is what DS's did and he's now hazel. I'm guessing we'll have to wait a while before we know for sure.
@hoodoll82 I think this is happening to my LO now too. He doesn't seem to want to be put down much, but also seems to not want to held for too long either. Lots of arching and twisting when being held to (seemingly) get to a certain place or position, and lots of kicking, arm waving, and more twisting when not being held. Its hard for me to tell for sure tho, I'm still dealing with the events leap over here.
Born blue blue and still are blue but there have been a few grey days here and there. Im hoping they stay blue I missed out on the families blue eyes and ended up with green. DH has hazel... We shall see but I would love to have a blue eyed babe!
Is anyone in pharmacy? Due to a reaction to the pertussis vaccine I had when I was little, we decided to vaccinate LO with DT only. His ped office swears they can't order it, I've been to Walgreens and also got in touch with the county health dept. I know they make a DT version without the P but no one seems to know how to obtain it. I have an Rx for it but no one can tell me where to find it. Any ideas? Anyone else had to just get DT?
Born deep deep blue. Now brown in the center with a grey/blue ring around the outside. I wonder if she'll be hazel like grandpa. DH and I were both born insanely brown, and they stayed.
Born blue, still blue. Have some lighter days than others. Very light blue ring around the pupil. DH has light hazel and I have dark hazel so I'm assuming hers will be hazel.
TTC: 1/2014
BFP: 9/24
EDD: 6/8/2015
Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.

Ditto - LO was born with such dark eyes, you couldn't see his pupils. They're becoming brown like me, but have the same ring on the outside that @cait7425 mentions, making us wonder if they'll become hazel.
DH has green eyes that can look blue sometimes. My whole extended family has dark brown eyes, but my mom and brother (we have different dads) have green. No chance for a blue eyed babe here!
Question: LO just had his bottom two teeth appear at the surface. His gums aren't red/swollen, he doesn't really have more drool than the lots he's always had, and he doesn't really seem to be in pain. Except he can't stay asleep at night. Again, that's not new, but it had gotten better for a few nights. He's 21 weeks tomorrow (whoa!).
Is he just a lucky baby not to have pain? Is he up at night because he's in pain? Should I be giving Tylenol before bed?
I don't feel like he's in pain (maybe sometimes a little uncomfortable) because he's his smiley happy self. But I know teething can be awful, so I don't want to ignore pain if I'm missing it. And am in high hopes for a nighttime sleep solution, if I'm honest.
Thoughts?
(If I saw this post, I'd probably tell mama to trust her baby's probably ok. Which is what I'm doing, but wanted to confirm with my ladies.)
Someone once told me that two Browns can make a blue, but that two blues will always be blue.
@virginiaunicorn11 I would trust that master P is ok. My mom said some babies don't have the teething symptoms like others do. So I hope that you're one of the lucky ones.
Is it sad that as a Christmas gift I'm considering asking for a hotel room for myself for one night? Just one day to be baby and husband free. Lying in a bathrobe all day watching trashy TV, drinking wine, and ordering room service. And to top it off a peaceful nights sleep.
@virginiaunicorn11 I haven't seen any teeth yet but I think when I do I will probably not be giving Tylenol unless its obviously pretty uncomfortable for him. I seem to remember someone on here talking about using something like oragel, tho

@virginiaunicorn11 I personally wouldn't give him Tylenol unless he seemed to be in pain during the day too! Congrats on the teeth!
