I have kind of a funny/frustrating one about my 2 year old. She has been saying "oh shit" about everything and we can't get her to stop! If she drops something, spills, falls down, all the time. We tell her no and not to say it and we don't say it but she just goes, "oh it's okay, I'm fine." No kid, it's not fine! Stop freaking swearing! But I have to admit, it sounds adorable when she says it. I'm definitely the mom that can barely hold my "stern face" while trying to discipline and then I have to go to another room to laugh about it, LOL
I had to LOL at this. That is literally the only bad word DS knows and he def knows how to use it. It might be my fault he learned it though...OOPS! I have been working on it but it just slips out sometimes.

  • The everyday occurrence of multiple threads asking about guessing their babies sex from a 10 weeks profile ultrasound on the 2nd trimester board are super annoying but really asking about finding out the sex but mixing your pee and drano. Whole new level.

  • Well....this child is trying to kill me. I ran out of my neasua medication and I figured I'd be good by now. Nope. 19.4 and she's still trying to kill me. At least I can feel her cute kicks now to kind of make up for it.

I know I've complained about my MIL wanting to invite strangers to my shower, but its really more because I view this as a private thing, but I don't get the whining about gifts either. All of my friends are obsessed with buying cute clothes even though they know we need other things. I'm just going to return them because this kid already has more clothes than I do.
  • @bntfroggie when you had your ultrasound after slipping on the steps, were you saying you had the ultrasound BECAUSE you fell or did you already have it scheduled?

I did this this morning and am really sore. I figured everything would be fine, but then I figured I should probably call the doctor to be safe.

Ugh our cows are being total assholes today... When I was driving home from my A/S today I noticed some black and white spotted things where they are NOT supposed to be. Of course DH and FIL are out picking corn so I'm left to corral the cattle off of our moderately travelled road and back into our yard all by myself. DH and FIL finally arrive, fix the fence and get the few loose critters back where they belong with the rest of their moo friends. Well apparently one was hiding during this time, now it's dark and my younger brother who stopped by for a chat called into the house "uhhh is there supposed to be a cow in your yard..?" Of course home alone again. So my brother goes to pick up DH who's God knows where bailing and we get this large fellow back where he belongs. Thank goodness it was only one lone steer, because it really sucks chasing cattle around in the dark. Sorry for my rambling story, I'm just dang sick of this fall. There hasn't been any rain so DH hasn't gotten a break from harvest and I miss him. The cattle being out twice in one day while I was home alone was just the icing on the cake. Any farm wives out there feel me?!
I'm so sorry! I feel you! I don't personally have cattle, but my neighbors do and we've been pressed into service to corral them when they find a faulty bit of fencing. It's hard work, and those steer will stare you down! I say put your feet up and relax. I'm sure it will rain soon, and then you'll have some time with your hubby.

Totally agree @kynbar5! Since when did your MIL offering to throw you a party and shower you with gifts become something to complain about. GIVE ME A BREAK, people!!!

  • Sooooo, has anyone checked out the "worried I won't make it to the hospital" thread in the 3rd tri board. There's a newer commenter on there and wow, confusing to say the least. I will be staying off tb for the rest of the day probably because if not, I'm pretty sure I'll end up banned smh.

Just had a small "a-ha!" moment today :) Come next Thursday I will be in my 6th month!  Holy crap the time is flying!

I kinda agree with the MIL buying things and throwing showers, but I always feel there is more to the story.  Internet is not a place to read someone's personality so what looks like a simple ungrateful post may be actually something more.  I could see my SMIL doing something similar to me and it would peeve me off.

I can give an example:  2 years ago my dd begged us for the big, expensive, Barbie Doll Dream House.  We got it for her; FIL and SMIL got her a couple barbies and spare furniture to go with it.  Well she was 9/almost 10, and she really kinda got out of playing with toys (she was using the doll house as a catch-all in her room and hardly played with it).  So last Christmas DD said she didn't want toys anymore, so I let family know, to include FIL and SMIL.  SMIL got snippy telling me that my daughter is too young to quit toys.  Guess what she got for Christmas?  ANOTHER, BIGGER doll house!  Imagine, 2 4foot+ tall dollhouses, in a 2 bedroom apartment, both crammed into DD"s not-that-big-room.  And even better, that one DD used as an extra clothing rack- when she was too lazy to put her clothes away, that's where they went.  When I again mentioned NO TOYS and said she doesn't use either doll house, then SMIL decided to pipe up and say she would take it back and give it to [our niece]- who she had bought the same house for the year before but Niece destroyed it.  WHY waste money on something I said she didn't need in the first place (being toys), and I had told her so- and she had even helped supply the doll house we had bought THE YEAR BEFORE!? She has done other things to irritate both me and my mother, that effect my daughter, so I know she does things to be spiteful. But again- to sit here and spell out everything in a long post (kinda like I just did lol) takes a lot of time.

BTW when we found out we were pregnant and would have to make room in DD's room for the baby, again SMIL piped up saying she would take the doll house back for Niece.  We ended up selling the one WE bought online to make room for the crib, and stashed the other in the closet, so when she has friends over they still have some things to play with/entertain her friends with.

AND let me ETA:  She has done that numerous times- taken things away from my daughter for her own grandchildren, when technically DD is only a step-grandchild and not blood related.

  • @kynbar5 Why did she even mention baby #0?? I understand that it seems like a very sticky and personal situation, but why bring it up and then say "We never talk about it"??? Cause....now you're talking about it.

It sounds like MUD to me. Her stories are hard to follow - I can't remember what it was but one of the timelines didn't match up. I think she was talking about baby #0 and how she knew she had short labors or something. Like unless there is a baby #-1 I think you're making stuff up miss lady.

  • I bet these mommyzillas were also bridezillas.

    Bahahahaha yes.

"My bachelorette party HAS to be in Vegas!" "I expect ALL of my bridesmaids to pay $300 for their dresses, $75 for makeup and $75 for hair - no exceptions!" "OMG Kelly only got me the 30 dollar wine opener I registered for but I bought HER a $70 sheet set" "Ugh my MIL is trying to give me a family heirloom but it doesn't go with the décor of my home, how rude of her."

The other thing that I honestly wonder about with these women is, how exactly do their husbands get treated? "It's only a 4K?!" "Thanks for the BMW babe but I really wanted the Mercedes" "What do you mean I can't spend $3,000 on maternity clothes?!" Ugh serious eye rolls.

Well, from what I've seen some women around here say about their relationships, they seem to be very immature and naive about the way relationships work, so I'm pretty sure you're dead on about these assumptions. Totally bizarre.

  • So, my body is confused these days. I'm nauseous but starving. Tired and worn out but unable to sleep. Grumpy and annoyed but .... well grumpy and annoyed, lol. Most days I don't wanna get up in the morning and don't wanna go to bed at night. *sigh* so glad I will never be pregnant again.
  • I never venture away from the birth month board but it sounds like I am missing out

All of this. But I must admit that I am intrigued to see who comes out of the wood work to talk about "push presents" that they demanded later on, that always ends well...

  • Push presents???? Seriously?? I guess the only person I would think of that might give one (and I don't think it required or anything)  would be the baby's father. I have heard of several guys that went out and purchased something very nice and thoughtful for new moms (maid service for a month, gift certificates to spas/massages, etc.).

I guess I always though that the gift from DH would be the awesome new eating, crying, napping poop machine!

Yeah push presents are from the father of the baby, and for the most part they are expensive jewelry.

  • There was a lady when I was pregnant with my first and it had to be MUD. If I remember correctly she got pregnant from a man that was cheating on his wife and she was determined to break up the marriage. Flash forward to her bragging about her push present of an SUV Lexus or Mercedes or something and saying how she deserved it and we should all demand things like that from our baby daddy's... she posted a bunch of pics of it with a car seat in it too I think, LOL, that was a real shit show.

The only thing I wanted after having DD and not being able to eat for more than 24 hours was a giant breakfast. The hospital said I could order two, one for me and one for DH, so I ordered two and DH goes, "oh, you ordered for me too, that's nice..." Um, no, I'm eating them both and if you're lucky you can have my scraps. That's what you get for flaunting every meal you ate the day before at me while I was in mass amounts of pain! Beyond food, I have no clue why anyone would expect or want a push present, I would feel ridiculous.
