  • We moved into a new office building today. And the Mother's Room is still under construction. So I confiscated a "hoteling" office and am pumping. But because this new building is so damn trendy, none of the offices have doors that lock and there are huge glass panes next to the door. So I hung up 2 sheets of poster paper to try to block people seeing in but the glass is slightly wider than the paper. And without a door lock, I'm pumping in here listening to people talk in the hallway and trying not to freak that anyone could walk in whenever. So I'm half dressed as in the photo. This sucks and because I'm nervous I'm not pumping the same volume I usually do.

Technically there's a Mothers Room in the other building tower, which is a 5 minute walk. So I think they're legally compliant? I also have the car adapter but the parking garage is another 5 min walk and up/down elevators. Between walk, set up and 20 min pumping who has time to do that 3x during the workday?!
  • Why must my oven be fickle and decide to burn my bagel bites? I was really looking forward to those little bites of pizza goodness...
  • We are dogsitting, and the little shit sneaks into the bedroom at night and chews out the crotch of dirty underwear.
    A) DISGUSTING!!
    B) He destroyed two of my favorite pairs.

    So. Mad.

The dog is sleeping in his crate tonight. (We were told he's ok with that.) We need to keep our doors open to hear LO, and no way am I stepping in dog piss tonight.
  • Dear New Microwave,

It is not necessary for you to beep every minute after the cooking time is done. I'm kinda busy right now, but I promise you, I will not forget my food.

    Thank you kindly,
    @423ang
  • I never read the comments on YouTube videos, and *shockingly* rarely feel compelled to comment myself. I scrolled down on a recipe video last night and OH MY GOODNESS people are totally stupid!!! I HAD to respond to a few and then tear myself away and accept the reality that there are too many stupid people and there is not enough time to fix stupidity.
  • @423ang I hate that. Every time I sterilize bottles, I'm screaming, I hear you dammit, give me a minute!

We turned the sound off on our microwave so there is no beeping! It's not a particularly fancy one, so maybe you could check to see if yours has a similar option? Must admit that I do forget and leave things in there at times without the (annoying) reminders

Yes, I'm sure it has this option. But that takes effort. I'll work on it one of these days.

Besides. With something like this its almost more fun to bitch about the problem than fix it. Amiright? ;)

  • My phones autocorrect / word dictionary does not contain the word "sucks". Or, I guess it does, because it doesn't try to correct it, but if I misspell it, I can't choose "sucks" from any options it gives me. And since I am usually just misspelling it by inverting two letters, or hitting the 'A' instead of the 'S', it knows what I'm trying to get at. So, I type 'aucks' and it leaves it. What kind of word is that? Or I highlight it and my options for spell correct are 'wicks', 'ducks', 'sicks'. I'm pretty sure at this point in our culture 'that sucks' is not considered vulgar or inappropriate, or a curse word.

However 'bitch', 'bitches', 'bitched' all autocorrect when I spell them wrong.

    The whole thing's stupid.

  • @kezdk some of my favorite past times include reading comment sections of CNN and stuff...just for the laughs.
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
  • @dancegurl1118 - I swear my jaw was hanging down to my knees; and to make matters worse, I can be quite the grammar freak (teacher problems)...I was squirming and fighting the urge to start correcting sentences, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Just found an engorged tick on my dog. She has the lymes vaccine, but now I'm of course freaking out and reading up on Dr. Google. Calling the vet tomorrow. I've found ticks on our other dogs in the past, but I don't know why this time I'm so worried. Why didn't the flea and tick preventative kill that sucker?

Just like with vaccines, using a preventative just greatly reduces the risk, not make it 100% impossible. Also, its not like they get on the dog and just drop dead right away. They are slowly poisoned. If you put that stuff on a dog with fleas, it can take 24-48 hours for them all to die. So the tick may have been dying, but still stuck on. Also, some vets believe that bathing your dog for 48 hours before or after applying product decreases the effectiveness of the product (or the dog getting wet in general, like swimming). Lastly, use a quality product. Either buy it from your vet or get your vets recommendation. In the case of flea and tick control, you really do get what you pay for, good stuff is going to be more expensive.

Oh yeah, and if you haven't gotten rid of it already, save the tick. Your vet can identify it and then you'll know for sure if that type carries lyme. Not all ticks do. Tho there are other tick borne diseases, anyway. Bah, just get your dog tested in a few weeks.

Bottom line - you'll be fine! Puppy will too. Continue to always check for ticks, tho.

  • @mellymar we use the canine advantix 2, and she hadn't been bathed or wet in a while. Just one of those 'it can still happen things'. I already flushed the tick, but gonna call the vet anyway. According to Dr google it was an engorged deer tick. I'll keep a look out for the bullseye and other symptoms and pray for the vaccine to work. Ugh. Hate worrying about the fur baby.
  • @cait7425 I'm pretty sure deer ticks can carry Lyme. No big deal. Hopefully your product was doing its job and the tick was dying and lessening the chance of transmission. Vets I have worked for in the past would just tell you to come in for a nurse visit for a tick disease test in a few weeks. Hopefully that's what they tell you and the results are negative. If not, its a course of antibiotics. If you catch tick borne disease early and give treatment its usually not an issue

You're doing a good job, dog mama! :-bd

  • ^thanks melly!
  • I think the question has been answered really well...but I saw a video of this gadget in action and it looks great - in theory - for removing ticks
  • I thought that since I'm not nursing that I would be able to drink as much coffee as I want and not have to worry about it. Little did I know that I would only ever drink about 3 sips of each cup because I always forget about it until I'm holding LO and can't drink it bc I'm afraid to spill it on her, so I inevitably end up wasting most of my coffee and creamer. I'll just keep trying in hopes that someday I'll get to enjoy an entire cup of coffee before its cold..

Also gravity... Why must pacifiers be so susceptible to it? And why must everything that I drop from the couch roll or bounce under the couch?
  • True! It does help with that, but then the metal part always ends up in the way when it comes time to cuddle her to sleep. She still pulls it out of her mouth though with or without the strap though which is kinda funny because she doesn't seem to k ow she's the one that did it..haha.
  • You're right! I never thought of that..that would definitely take care of that! Thanks!
  • I'm still not asleep yet for my shift tonight................ And I heard we have 3 patients in labor (1 set with twins) and 2 surgicals
    Bah.
DH looked it up and apparently 10 out of 15 woman while pregnant or after pregnancy become lactose intolerant
Well for me it's severe...... Horrible bathroom trips and stomach cramps that are honestly worse than contractions all night last night and throughout the day today...... Just because I accidentally ate cream cheese in stuffed mushrooms last night...... Fml
Thank goodness these babies are so cute ....
  • @klkonwi must be a twin night..we had two sets last night. One primip vaginal (hooray!!!) and another repeat section. TWINS EVERYWHERE

  • So I just picked LO up from daycare...and another little girl was wearing her bib. I wasn't POSITIVE it was hers (I bought it off zulily) but sure enough when I got home it's missing from the set. I even said "oh we have the same bib at home!" loudly hoping the caregiver would get the point but...nope. This is the second time. The more time she spends at this place the more I hate her being there.

Yeah we came home with someone else's bib once. Right now, I'm "+1" I guess! I was mad at first but figured it will even out over time. Except God help if we don't get our expensive Dr Brown bottles home every day!

@mellymar LOL! This cracked me up. DH keeps reminding me that 10-21-15 is coming up - the day they travel to in Back to the Future and this makes me think of a line he always quotes: "There's that word again, heavy. Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there something wrong with the earth's gravitational pull?"
