^^ I should've put it on airplane mode like I usually do when DH is home, but I had been bumping and forgot. When he is not home tho, I must be able to get all calls and texts, just in case someone shot him or he drowned or fell thru some ice or something.
:-O this was an interesting read at 6:15 straight out of bed. Nothing like a good dose of reality to wake you right up.
Sorry. I meant it lightly but forgot to add in a smiley to make it lighter hearted.
ETA I'll go edit it so someone else gets the not as heavy version
(Yep, how about them Mets?)
I'm a Red Sox fan, but DH is a Mets fan!
Omg her outfit is SO cute! Somebody was supposed to send us Mets gear but never did. I settle for a romper I have that's blue and orange.
She was only in the outfit for 2 minutes before she has a massive spit up ALL over it. And daddy. This is actually AFTER that event, we had to quickly pull it together for the photo op! (They won that game though!)
All her Mets stuff is 0-3 month and therefore tight, but we are stuffing her into them for the next 2 weeks. Meanwhile we have a 6 month sized Red Sox dress that won't get any post-season love... whomp whomp!
@hoodoll82 your house sounds a bit like @Mommaswizz house, with mom an Islanders fan and dad a Rangers fan. The only way yours could be a house more divided is if your DH was a Yankees fan.
Oh, he notices it, his dad drives us both nuts. He kept calling this morning and when DH didn't answer, he called me. Then wanted to know why we were already getting ready. Dude, we have a baby to get ready, geez. He's a giant baby himself and gets whiny and unbearable to deal with if you try to reason with him or say anything. Him and DH had a strained relationship for a long time and now that they get along, he refuses to do anything that might rock the boat. I did jump all over FIL today because LOs little ears are fused down a little at the top, kind of curled over and every time we see him he inspects his ears and makes some comment. I lost it today. He's just a selfish jerk.
I can totally relate to this! I feel like my MIL is always picking apart my newborn. She's always checking her tongue and telling me I need to clean it, saying she's colicky when she isn't, etc. And when it comes to handling it, my DH is always one extreme or the other. He either holds his tongue to avoid hurting their feelings or he kind of goes off on them. The latter rarely happens though. It's more the holding of the tongue. Glad to see that at least one of us isn't suffering in silence. =D>
Not really a gripe but I didn't know what thread I should fit this under. LO has been ESPECIALLY leap-y today, by the old gods and the new. Has taken one 20ish minute nap today, is super fussy and when he cries for whatever reason (which, he hasn't needed a reason today) it's serious mega world ending crying. Good grief. And of course DH is on duty for today and tomorrow. This mama is going to try to put her baby to bed early and have a beer. Woof...

Exactly the same over here. 20 minute naps, clingy, fussy, and cried bloody murder when DH tried to feed her a bottle. She would only nurse today. This has been going on for a week. Aaaaaand I've had at least one glass of wine a night. Emphasis on the 'at least'.
@mellymar I feel ya, DH also has duty, he will be home tomorrow night(LO gets 4 month shots tomorrow) and then DH is leaving on Wednesday for a week so he can go see his dad. So I will being at least a beer or two or some wine! So over crabby baby phase!
Ditto on the fussy baby today. He's not usually so difficult, but today he was on the razor's edge of laughing or crying for maybe a third of the day. Then we took him grocery shopping, and he just sucked his finger and zoned. out.
Major leap behavior. Wonder Weeks app says the events leap should be done Saturday [-O< [-O< [-O<
(If he's still a bad sleeper next week, I don't know WHAT I'm gonna tell myself!)
Yeah, I don't even know if I believe in this leap thing and it's like my baby is out to prove to me that they're real. Good thing she's the third or I'd be freaking out wondering what happened to my awesome baby.
DS had his first birthday party this weekend. My gripe is that the only adult beverages were Coke and Diet Coke. Seriously? Would a little wine or beer have killed you? Am I a bad mom for planning on having beer when DS turns 3? I know I'm lower class than most of these moms based on my swearing but I thought a 3 year old birthday required a little alcohol. Or maybe I'm going about this parenting thing all wrong...
can i post a 3 month long gripe here? i dont think ill be getting maternity leave pay. i tried filing for it when i finished work at my lastest job in May, but couldnt get ahold of the boss from my previous job for some info. fast forward to when LO is born in July and i finally get the info from someone else that used to work there. so then i file, it has been 2 months of me trying to contact the same boss so i can get him to send an ROE to the government so i can have all my shit in so i can start getting money. well lo and behold now ive been trying to contact the ei people so they can hound him for it and get that info and i cant get ahold of anyone. "call volume is too high" thats the only message ive gotten for the past month. im pissed. and im poor.
DH has been chanting "Let's Go Mets!" At LO all week. LO gets a shy smile every time. Love those guys! (Don't really care about the team, but ok ;-) )
DH made up a song about the Mets and sang it to LO allllll night. He now claims it's good luck and going to stick around.
@mellymar I wouldn't have been allowed to marry DH if he was a Yankees fan, dear god. It was literally one of the first questions my grandma asked DH when he met her. Bostonians be crazy!

Go sit on someone's floor with LO and don't leave til they give you what you need. Unacceptable!
Mine has been just as fussy the past two days. He stopped napping unless he literally passes out finally and then it's for 30 min tops. Cries his heart out.
@JessHeppell what the what? I agree, go sit on the floor of the office until they finally help you so you'll leave. (Assuming there is an office nearby?)
@virginiaunicorn11 I've got 13 days left in the events leap. @cait7425@JMott22 cheers, mamas! I had a personal pizza (its not delivery, it's DiGiorno) for dinner. For my beverage, I chose a 7% brown ale. It was delish. It was a 7% abv type of day.
@hoodoll82 yes! No Yankee fans for me either. Luckily both DH and I, being from SoCal, have a mutual distaste for the Yankees. But, had I met a Yankee fan, we could not have gone far with that relationship. I swear I think its a SoCal thing, but as long as I've known about baseball, I've known I don't like the Yankees.
I'm not a baseball fan but I feel like I should represent the Royals since they're getting no love. It really is a ton of fun in town right now and I do cheer for them when I'm paying attention. I love the blue heart KC shirts and want to get one for LO. Don't tell my family I couldn't care less about the Brewers.

This is beyond ridiculous. I agree with PP. March over there and kick his ass into gear! Can you contact HR about this or his superior? He should be reported for not doing his job.
People are so lazy nowadays, that they back up traffic a mile on the main stretch to wait for a parking spot (people they were waiting for were still loading groceries into their car) and there were open spots 3 places down..ugh People :-q this has to be my biggest pet peeve and it just happened .. Had to vent hoping if people here do that, won't anymore :-q Think I'm going to start a thread "losing faith in humanity" I think we had one similar a while back, it would be a hit
Someone online just used the term "mother's hours" and I had to ask what that meant. And now I'm annoyed that this phrase even exists. Can we all agree to change the terminology? How about "part-time daytime hours"? Not sure why this one riled me up so much. It just feels very archaic.

I had to Google this. It IS annoying. Dads can be stay at home parents, too
This stupid mother F'ing dog we're sitting just peed all over a mesh hamper full of LO's clean laundry.
The beast will nose through any indoor door that isn't latched shut. He's snuck into rooms and chewed up five articles of clothing.Bbut if you put him outside and leave the front door cracked so he can get back in, he barks and yelps to be let in, waking the baby.
LO missed his afternoon nap today, so was suuuuper fussy. Fell asleep in the car, only to be awakened five minutes later by the dog's incessant barking.
My parents get home tonight. I hate this stupid MF'ing dog with a passion. Can't wait for them to deal with the dog again. Not sure we can both coexist in this house. I like dogs, but not untrained ones.
Super leapy and teethy means I am getting zero sleep. LO isn't all that upset as long as he's being held/cuddled/nursed constantly. He got made earlier because I took too long to change his diaper. So that, and DH complained about being tired today after sleeping for TEN HOURS straight. He then took a nap. And is now on sleeping medicine. He's been awake for maybe six hours. I just want one hour of uninterrupted sleep. Please.
@virginiaunicorn11 ohhhh noooo. I can't stand dogs that are like that. We all know I'm an animal lover, but I seriously want to lock those dogs in the garage and try to forget about them (other than feeding and and watering, obviously) until his owners come back. Hopefully with his 'parents' back home he will behave
My parents are back, and we are living with them for the next several months. Which is fine - they're awesome, give us our space, make us comfortable, etc. They give a lot of advice (unsolicited but appreciated) and my parenting style comes from them, a lot.
But now that they're back, I'm realizing I don't need their advice. I know my baby and what he needs. I care a lot about my parents' opinion, so when they say things like, "Wow, he goes to bed early," I do something stupid like keeping LO out past his melting point, because I'm used to my parents being right. So tonight poor LO had one of the worst meltdowns he's had in months, before I learned his curfew is 6:30.
It's not a big deal. I just need to keep trusting myself, and ignore their comments when I know they're not right for LO.
LO usually goes down super early but is up squealing at us tonight. Not mad squealing, but happy, laughing sqeals. DH is over there talking and playing. I should tell him to stop but he rarely gets to see him at night so I'm letting it happen. Plus it's cute to watch.
I like being politically informed and active. A lot. But I hate everyone on every side of every issue right now, in the U.S. What a shit show. I can hardly make myself look at the news. And the only thing I hate worse than politics is the uninformed. Blech.

No, the worst is the uninformed who like to pretend they are informed.
