Re: Gender and names?!?!?!

  • Is Rayna too popular of a name?
    Rayna Ann
    Estelle Ann
I'm still more in love with Estelle, but would like to go in with options.

I like Rayna / Raina but looooove Estelle.
I do too! I'm sure that's what we will go with.

  • Hello Ladies, I have less than 9 weeks to go and was wanting some input on a middle name or possible rearrangement of the name. Me and hubs (expecting a girl) agree on Delilah but the middle name is a whole other ballgame :) We want to honor his grandmothers with the middle name Eda. This is where the tricky non aggrement comes in cause i pronounce E-duh and he pronounces E-tt-ah. Im working on my pronounciation as it was his granmothers name so he should know how to pronounce it. Sorry its long ;) My question is do yall like Eda as a middle name or have other options that would go well with Delilah? Or should we switch it up and make Delilah the middle name? Thanks ladies!!

The singular "d" makes me want to pronounce it EE-duh which sounds a little clunky with Delilah, likely because they both end in that "uh" sound. Did she have a middle name? Can you honor her by using the same first letter? Delilah Eve is pretty.

Agreed, flipped around and even changing the pronunciation a little, they just don't sound well together. Maybe there is a something else about her you can draw from for a middle name? A nickname? A quality you valued? Delilah Eve is beautiful, also Delilah Emily or Delilah Evelyn.
  • Thanks @thefithuntress and @kmkrushi. I like Eve, it sounds good with Delilah and that's why I asked! The names don't roll off my tounge when spoken. A pp had said something about yelling the name, cause it's bound to happen, and that's how I usually do. We have three other kiddos and no naming issues there. I guess the more you have the harder it gets!

We're naming our little guy Skylar and he's due the day after thanksgiving

Isn't Skylar predominantly a girls name? Just asking out of pure curiosity because I have never seen it as a guys name before.. That is in no way a judge mental question!
I graduated with a guy named Skyler.

See I don't know any guys named skyler and I didn't want to seem like a jerk when I genuinely just don't know any guys named skyler.. I didn't say it was a bad name for a guy I just personally don't know any guy with that name.. I do kinda like it better for a guy then a girl though!!
  • 33 weeks and 6 days pregnant. Due between the 13th and 18th of November! Found out we were having a boy at 14 weeks! His name is Kellin Szeath Sullivan
  • Prefer Christian by far!
  • We're having a boy, Skylar David Farrell!
  • Ok here is my situation. My dad passed away a week and a half ago. My little girl is due two days before my dad's birthday. We are naming her Jordan. I would like to honor my dad by finding a feminine form of Paul that I like. The best I can come up with is Jordan Pauline or Jordan Paulina. I know neither are that modern. Which of those two sounds better? Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

I'm so sorry for your loss. There's also Jordan Paulette or Jordan Paola (which I personally love). Pauline is my other fave.
  • @JamieA322- I'm very sorry to hear about your dad. Having your daughter's middle name honor him is beautiful. I love Jordan Paulina and @thefithuntress suggestion of Jordan Paola, or Jordan Polly.

  • I'm almost 36 weeks and we just finally agreed on a name for our little boy! I thought we would never find something we both agreed with! He's going to be Thomas Isaac, Thomas after my grandad who died last year and Isaac just because I love it. My Nanna is made up were using my grandads name and we've had pretty good responses from everyone about it, apart from my mam who doesn't like Thomas
  • I love the name Citizen definitely unique
  • We have decided to name our son
    Legacy Reign.
  • I'm a little late to this party but love seeing all the fun names! I am due 11/7 we are having a girl (after 3 boys) her name is Krozbie Grace.
  • I know that 'different' names aren't for everybody but I personally LOVE Krozbie!
  • I'm due November 8th with a baby girl. We are naming her Oakley Alane, so we also went the nontraditional route. Congratulations!

Any reason for the extra unique spelling? I think the name is cute and unique, but I think the more normal spelling of "Crosby" would be better...

Agreed about the spelling. Also, maybe it's just me, but it instantly brings to mind Bill Cosby...

I felt the exact same way-just wasn't going to throw that out there and ruin her name. I still can't believe he did that!

Yeah, I'm not trying to be mean or ruin her name- but at the same time, I'd want someone to tell me if they associated my baby name contenders with something/someone like that! Otherwise, it's a cute name- also reminds me of Crosby, from Parenthood, which is awesome.

We haven't shared our names with many people, but I did tell my sister just because, if there were such an association (or bad initials, etc), her dirty mind would make it- we're in the clear!

We wanted to be more girly... Originally we had it will a "s" but my 5 year old was sounding it out how to spell it and he used a "z" so we changed our mind.... Also its Cosby not Crosby that was a pervert but thanks
  • I think Crosby would get more people thinking of Cosby as opposed to Krozbie. Just my opinion though.
  • We are naming our girl Zoey Ryder.

Ryder is my DHs middle name as well as his father and grandfather. This is our first baby but all of our children will have this middle name :)

I have to agree with what everyone else is saying. I've nannied and been a summer camp counselor since I was twelve and I have to say, the names get worse every year. One girl was named LaGwen...I assume because her parents loved how "original" it was. Children grow up. It's not cute on a 45 year old woman.

ETA my first name is very weird and it was not a fun thing to grow up with, I ended up going by a shortened version of my middle. So I have a special spot in my heart for kids whose parents think it's a good idea to name then Doorknob.
    Do unto others.
