  • @oceanchild very sorry about the croup. It hit us bad this winter a few rounds. Definitely had a few ER visits. Praying your babies get through it quickly!

  • @red3ye I could, but we get into "trouble" for it. We are a "no rules" shelter and everyone is responsible for themselves. I have warned this mother several times. I mean seriously-she leaves her disabled child at the table for hours! I am probably going to contact CPS.

On another note I got into a heated discussion with my DH last night because we got onto the topic of having a child with disabilities and he was saying that it would suck because we basically wouldn't have a life anymore. I got sooo heated. I may have gone overboard, but I told him that I would do him the favor of leaving him if we did that way HIS life wouldn't have to end. I even explained all of the advances society has made for children/people living with disabilities, but he just went on and on about how it would be expensive and time consuming. ughh. AND I was already mad because Papa Johns kept refusing my card information and we had to go in person to pick up the pizza-the baby needed pizza :P

@charley15 I'm sorry that really sucks that you get grunt work :/ I hope it's at least somewhat worth it!

@cmerribury I am super glad that you guys were not affected! I've seen so many scary pictures all over the news.

@oceanchild I hope you and your little family start to feel better!

  • @oceanchild lots of well wishes for healing for your family!

  • @brooksmommy33 Uh that is so sad. I def commend people who do work like you do. I am not sure I would be able to handle it. So she just sleeps until 1:00 in the afternoon and doesn't worry about her kids. I can't imagine a world where my DS would let me do that.

  • @parker16772 Basically. It's just a multitude of things. I think it's a combination of having too many children and not a care about them.

  • @ecwk hope you're feeling better! @oceanchild so sorry your LO has the croup. Hearing them cough and not being able to do much to alleviate it is tough...

I am ready to scream and leave.  So much junk was thrown on me at once, I was ready to say Eff it and leave.  I can't deal with it today.  Math teacher gave me ANOTHER book, said she needed units 1-7 copied "right now" (as she caught me in the hallway with my freshly heated up lunch), so while I'm trying to copy that to eat, someone else cuts in with wireless printing so my copy job gets stopped. Then the phone is ringing from the other county, they need me to write up 2 suspension letters. So I get those done, whip out a few more math pages, get another phone call.  This time its my boss from the other school across the street, she needs suspension letters written for a FIVE YEAR OLD, when all my templates are for middle/high school.  Needless to say I had to reheat my lunch and work with the shakes because I don't have time to myself today!  Oh yeah- and math teacher?  Needed the first 7 units copied (at 4 pages a piece) out of a workbook, but now she wants the ENTIRE REST OF THE BOOK COPIED.  Can't rip the pages out, so I'll be at the Xerox machine for the rest of the day copying this book ONE PAGE AT A DAMN TIME.

For now I told everyone to kiss it and I'm taking a mental break!

  • @charley15 I just remembered that when i was in HS, students signed up to be Teachers Aides or Office aides. I remember doing a semester in each role and i did all the copying for the teachers. Seems like you could benefit having an aide with you!

    Pregnancy Ticker

  • I agree @charley15 needs an aid, best of luck to you
  • Ugh so sorry @charley15! You def deserve an aide!
And @BrooksMommy33, it takes a special kind of person to do your job also – my heart couldn't handle that, especially in this extra hormonal state!

@charley15 you need a helper! We have kids help the secretary with that at my school.
@cmerribury you felt baby?? So cool! I'm so so so so soooooo excited to feel it myself!
@Parker16772 no drama here this weekend. I thought here would be on the duplicate 'are you having a boy or girl' thread. There was something in TTGP too I think...

  • So, I'm just a little curious, I'm gonna throw this out here. I keep seeing all of these posts about how nervous and anxious people are, and I'm actually not feeling any of this.

I'm not nervous, not anxious, I'm actually feeling great except for the tiredness! I mean I have my moments when I get into a completely irrational mood, but that's just the hormones.

This is my first, and I feel like not freaking out is super weird to everyone around me. Anyone else feel this way? Like only excited, not worried or freaking out about anything?
  • @2goofykids I feel the same. I'm taking it all (mostly) in my stride. I feel like I've plenty of time and plenty of support and people have been doing this since forever. I can handle this.

With my first, I was never nervous during my pregnancy. I'd had a lot of experience with kids, was comfortable with babies, felt like I had a decent idea of what to expect. The nerves didn't hit until I started pushing. There was that moment of, "Holy cow. This is really happening. This is forever. There's no going back now."

But I love what ecwk said. People have been doing this since the beginning of time! You learn as you go. You rely on your support system. You've got this. :-)

So my main issue with MIL (I've grown to tolerate and be able to ignore her passive aggressive commentary) is that she doesn't respect boundaries. I tried to be nice and called her to keep her updated. She immediately started crying because I didn't take her with me. I tried to be nice and told her that I appreciate her enthusiasm but I wouldn't be comfortable with that. I like to keep my doc appts just me and DH or solo. She cried about how she hasn't heard the heartbeat and I just reminded her that my own mother hasn't heard it either. I'm just not comfortable asking my doc questions and being in a paper gown around my MIL. Now I regret even talking to her because she won't stop whining about it. She called DH to complain how I was selfish and didn't want her to go. I'm sorry but she had her own pregnancies and she has her own daughter that gave her grandkids and she could've accompanied to doc appts. but she didn't. Why does she have to be at mine? Am I being unreasonable? I feel like every time I give her an inch she wants a mile. Eta: next appt is my 20 week appt and a/s. I really feel it's something private for me and DH to experience. I don't want her there.

Ugh I feel your pain with the annoying MIL. My ex MIL was like that. I couldn't stand her annoying passive aggressive comments. Ugh, so obnoxious! Always about herself and she needed to know everything and was very selfish. Nothing was everrrr good enough for her. I don't miss that at all! Thank God we never had children together, but I remember when we talked about it, she got upset because I told her whenever we were to have kids, she was not allowed in the delivery room (she asked to be in there!) Are you kidding me?! I got remarried this past February and one of the best things I love about my hubby is that he doesn't talk to his mother at all. That sounds terrible, but she is not a nice person and made his life miserable growing up, so he stays away from her. Enjoy your time and business with your hubby! I would just distance myself from her...I know I did when I was married to my first husband!

  • @SparkE82 we totally just had chocolate chip pancakes for flip flop dinner! We had sausage instead (we're out of bacon). It was yummy!

  • @2goofykids enjoy it!!! There is nothing wrong with that. I wish I was more like that. I think I really have my guard up due to my previous MMC. I keep telling myself there is nothing I could have done to avoid it so just sit back, relax, and enjoy this crazy ride we call pregnancy! Easier said than done sometimes though.

  • @oceanchild -This happened to me over the weekend. There's a good thread on here that put my mind at ease a little bit until I could call my doctor. Hope all is well!
  • @herfst80 we have a diaper genie which I really like! I know I am not going back to empty the trash every day so it is a necessity in our house.

@oceanchild i had some spotting at 14 and 16 weeks. All was well at both visits afterwards. My doctor out me on pelvic rest until they check for placenta previa at my a/s tomorrow. Positive thoughts your way!
  • Man, I'm so jealous of all these cravings.  It's like I'm forcing myself to eat nowadays.  Nothing sounds good.  Nothing feels satisfying at all.  Wanting to eat all the food is supposed to be the plus of pregnancy...

I had DH bring home a pizza for dinner, but I decided to cook some chicken and dumplings in the interim to have for the rest of the week.  Just finished those, and it smells pretty good, but cutting up the chicken made me feel like yurping.

Sad moment of the day, watching the news at dinner time about the cargo ship that went down with 32 crew... they showed pictures of some of the crew members, and 17 month old DS waved to the TV and said bye bye over and over at the pictures.... He's never done anything like that.  DH and I looked at each, and I got weepy :(  So awful.

Hugs to everyone with rough or stressful days.
  • So I had my appointment today and the baby is great but I have a UTI. They think the last round of antibiotic didn't get rid of my UTI so I'm on a new antibiotic. Hoping it works because I hate taking medicine when pregnant.

That happened to me last pregnancy.  I could not get rid of a UTI - probably 3 different kinds of antibiotics before they killed it.  It SUCKED!!!

  • @oceanchild Sorry to hear about the sick kiddo. Hope it doesn't last long. Any news on the spotting? Hopefully it went away so you are not having to stress about that still as well.

Breakfast for dinner rocks!!! Sunday I had an amazing pancake breakfast after church... Yum.

@smushi I so feel for you. I would hate if I was still feeling sick. I really hope you can get your appetite back soon. Fingers crossed for you.

@2goofykids I have had a few moments where I get a little nervous but for the most part I feel like my "mommy" hormones have actually made it easier to deal the stressful situations at work and with the pregnancy. I kind of feel like super woman some days... I hope that feeling stays as the due date get closer.

@skruhmin I wouldn't have made it up the hill. You would have found me on the curb hitching a ride from someone...anyone!!!
  • Also as a side note...DH is on call and got called out right as we both were getting home. I tried waiting for him to get back to eat but baby told me that was a silly idea so I am currently eating warm yummy crock pot chicken noodle soup and feeling guilty while he is out in the cold pouring rain.
  • @jlavo888 That stinks that your DH got called out in bad weather.  What does he do?

And thanks for the sweet thoughts.  It's not that I'm sick anymore.  That's pretty much gone away.  I just can't get an appetite.  So weird.  This time last pregnancy was Thanksgiving, and dear lord, I cooked so much food and enjoyed myself for a week straight.  It was ridiculous.  Now?  Eating lunch is like running a marathon I know I have to finish.
  • Laying here watching Call the Midwife and I have absolutely no idea what to order for room service. Last night it was a chicken Caesar salad. I'm at a loss tonight. Maybe a burger.

  • @smushi

I understand the no apposite thing. It's not quite as bad as being full on sick but it is very annoying and no fun....especially when you love to eat usually.

He is a funeral director. Tonight he is on call for the removal staff which are the people that pick up bodies from hospitals/homes. I don't know how he does it. He is so good with the families.
  • @skruhmin I'd totally say post pictures of the menu and we can live vicariously through you, but in the sense of internet safety...

Desserts?  One protein something, and then desserts?
