@ecwk I feel your pain. I'm in Chicago and struggling with the coat situation.
For now I plan on wearing my various coats until they don't zip and I can't deal with the cold. After that I might have to bite the bullet I'm just not into the idea of spending $100+ on a coat that probably isn't warm enough and I might literally wear for 2 months (who knows if our next baby will be a spring one, you know?)
@ecwk I just looked at my coat closet and thought the same thing. What the heck am I going to wear! There's no way I can survive in central new York without a winter coat but I don't want to pay for a maternity one. I am already wearing a fleece and jacket overtop already. Winter is coming...
I had my first son in December the year we had a really bad blizzard in the DC area I wore my coat open i could only button the top two buttons but I did layer Shirts and sweaters underneath. I also noticed that I usually ran warmer in my 3rd Trimester so I was comfortable in my sweater and coat.
@ecwk I got a maternity coat last time around at H&M and I was so glad I did. I think they're around $50-60 but I got mine on sale if I remember correctly. Totally worth it!
Alright I'm convinced, I need to check out H&M maternity. I got such a cute cape the the other day that isn't maternity but that works! Thanks everyone for great suggestions!!!
Hubs decided to let me hang out today so he's doing laundry AND cooking dinner. There are some hilarious (frightening?!) noises coming from the kitchen. Dinner is already half an hour "late." But whatevs, so thankful he's jumping in! Steak, cheesy rice, and roast veggies FTW!
DD asked me how the baby was going to get out when I was pregnant with her little sister. She was only 2.5, so I figured I could get by with "the doctor will help me get her out." But she kept insisting, "Yeah, but how??" Haha. I finally told her and it shut her up right quick. Lol.
Oh winter coats. I hear you. DD2 was born in January and I managed to stretch my coat until about November, then just wore an old one of DH's. He's since gotten rid of that one, though, and doesn't have any extras. I'm 75% sure this will be our last baby, so I hate to buy a maternity coat. Seriously considering just buying a cheap coat a few sizes too big . . . or maybe even a big thrift store coat if I can find one in decent condition. I don't mess around with Michigan winters, but I'm also not planning on playing out in the snow or anything. I just need one for coming and going from the house to the car, etc.

Haha when dd asked me where babies come out (when she was 5 or6) I told her I pooped her out (which if you think about it you push them out the same way). Now that she is 11 and has her own monthly cycle she nows where, just you use the same muscles to push the baby out as you would to use the bathroom, and you push a LOT harder lol.

Well ladies the Charleston area is at OPCON 1 and they've started evacuating people for flooding thankfully where I live isn't flooded yet but hoping the rain stops soon. It's raining harder now than it was earlier we are getting 1-3 inches of rain an hour which is bad when you live in an island. Ive seen people on the news going down the street in kayaks and row boats. This weather is crazy considering some of the area flooded just last month.
I'm really happy baby is healthy and growing and I feel guilty complaining but I just need to vent. Who is this kid? How can it be mine and not like any of my fav foods!?! Ice cream, chocolate anything, all forms of cake, cinnamon rolls, pumpkin cheesecake, zucchini, pea pods, spinach, strawberries, have all been violently rejected!! Or they just don't taste right.

With my oldest I craved steak and pretty much ate it everyday with my second I craved cheese and could polish off a whole block in one sitting. Now that they are born my oldest won't eat steak and my youngest won't touch cheese unless it's melted on pizza. This baby craves sweets but I haven't given in to temptation too much since I don't want to gain 100 lbs. Maybe your baby will love your favorite foods once he/she is born.
Reading about winter coats is making me depressed we are only a month in to spring and it's already way to hot here tomorrow is meant to be about 30deg c (about 90f) which wouldn't be half as bad if I hadn't promised my nieces I would take them on an interstate shopping trip I'll be hanging out for aircon they have predicted one of the hottest summers on record in Australia this year I don't think I will survive
I don't have to worry to much about a winter coat, but I do have to worry about a decent rain coat (Living outside Seattle). I really like to layer my jackets, and my rain coat is always the most expensive part. So I was super excited, when I got my new rain coat at the end of winter last year from REI super cheap - $60 bucks normally $120! Now being 19 weeks along and realizing I have 21 weeks to go - I'm not sure how much longer I have to wear this coat, and Washington hasn't even really started to rain. It makes me wonder how I'm going to stay dry and keep the wind off me this winter. It's a dilemma for sure! I do like the idea of searching in a thrift store though!
@lightrox hope you've stayed safe and dry!! I'm going to go check out some thrift stores today to see if I can find anything decent. I also love the idea of buying a cheapish one a few sizes too big. Any excuse to go shopping :x
@labacker I'm so sorry they sent you an email. I'm in the same boat (would have been 39wks on Tuesday) and truthfully I haven't checked my email. Omg ladies, it's very hard catching up..;) Last weekend went away and very busy at work. Every night tried to catch up but still 60 or more messages..;) Congrats all the ladies with the beautifull heartbeats and US! And sorry for al of you experiencing difficult times at work, with friends and/or family and sickness (sorry for not naming more personal)... I totally understand the milk craving! Never drink it, only when eating pizza or pancakes (different ones than American ones, bigger, thinner more eaten as evening meal more specific a childrens treat).. About 3 d US; always thought they were scary, but because i was treated in AN academic hospital, they asked me to participatie in a research, because of that i've had two 3d Us with 9 and 11 weeks. Very weird but also special to see (i was and am very insecure about this pregnancy because took me 6 years) there was really a tiny person inside me already showing arms, legs and eyes, although baby first looked like a hamster and two weeks later like an alien..;) Wouldn't do it for fun..Too scary and also because i'm very lucky to be asked to join a other research after this one was finished. It's about pre eclampsia (of i remember this Well in English), so they measure bloodpressure, and glucose, have to give blood and urine, but they are also measuring the baby, so extra US with 14,17,22,32 weeks. I'm so excited with this. Now realize i'm again filling half of this thread so going to stop and do my sunday afternoon run. Wish you al a good sunday and hope all of you being in the middle of very severe weather circumstances you'll be safe!
Spent the last 2 days not wanting to do anything and today seems to be heading in the same direction. Grr, got a ton that needs done. How to get motivated?
And shaming for spelling reading my message when placed and cursing (?) at autocorrect;) About the milk; meant to say that i'm drinking it right now like crazy!

Could you reward yourself with something awesome if you get X,Y and Z done today??
I wanted to kill the other 'are you having a boy or girl' thread because it's going to be hard to keep up with both and who needs a duplicate thread anyway? Latest post there suggests the thread will be killed off soon anyway....

Thinking of you this month, too! It'll be a rough one, but really trying to focus on the positives.
About to go to San Francisco for a week of training. Yes, I'm excited about no kid responsibilities for the week but dang it I just want to bawl Im going to miss my boys so much. They were both wearing super hero capes at the house today and were cuter than all get out. Just have to remind myself I can stretch out in my own bed and no kid shows and a new city to explore....or just go to sleep by 8 every night.

So I have been feeling better the last couple weeks and actually haven't had to take any zofran since Wednesday (today is day 4 without it) but today I am weak, tired, and throw up again. Mild cramping. Just overall ick. Hope it is not the flu, as dh and ds had it 2 weeks ago, my sister had it last week and came to visit while sick (since when is it OK to visit people while sick). But I had the flu shot already. Also hope it's not ms. *sigh*
Ugh. I work at a shelter and I am getting sooo upset. There is a lady here with quite a few children who still hasn't gotten up to feed them. It's 1pm.

I'm also in the same boat as you. Would have been 38w now. Had some problems with TB resetting my account and still show up as pregnant even after I had changed it a couple times + sending email (but luckily those goes to my DH since we set up the account together and used his mail so I didn't deal with them). Thinking of you guys!
Woke up exhausted, then got sick, then got a call from my sister saying she needed me to watch her 1 year old while she moved. Then when she shows up (10 minutes later) she also drops off her boyfriends 2 kids (5 and 11ish) as well. I only had them for about 4 hours, but talk about interesting. Then she shows up, gets the kids and leave before my brain can kick in and be like: um, shouldn't you pay me for this? Don't get me wrong, I will watch her kid while she is sick (I did that last weekend) for free. If there is an emergency, again, no problem and it's free. But you drop off your kid, plus ur bf 2 kids, last minute cause they make it hard to move, and I expect some compensation. Plus, before she came to get them, she called to check in. I told her that her daughter kept sneezing and has green mucus, so she probably is getting a cold. Sis tells me, "Yeah, she has been running a fever, I gave her Tylenol to drop it before I dropped her off". So she knowingly brings her sick kid here, knowing I have a little one and am pregnant. Next time she calls, I'm going to be to sick to help her. End rant

Eurgh I think I'm getting sick. My nose is blocked, I keep sneezing, my eyes are watery and I just feel yucky. Work should be fun tomorrow! Have a great Monday, y'all!!
@ecwk oh no! Hope it comes and leaves quick if you are in fact getting sick. I am getting my flu shot on the 8th at work and I am just keeping every finger and toe crossed that I don't catch it before then. 4 of my students were out with it last week.
First question so hope I'm posting this correctly...
I'm going to be a first time single mum and I can handle all of it I know I can I just wanted your tips on nappy disposal. Some say to go the nappy bins others say nappy bags. Does anyone know of a good effective smell sensitive person way to dispose of the outcomes?
So our out of town trip was great, and it was super awesome visiting with my brother! But then all day Saturday (and some of Sunday) there was red blood (not a lot) in my discharge (sorry for tmi). My ob said to just hang tight and not to go to the ER unless it was more. Ok, fine. A little crampy, but normal I think. Trying not to stress; he said he could scan me Monday. Anyone else have this around 16ish wks? And now baby is sick - had a fever all day yesterday and this barky cough. It's back up again (middle of the night here) and I don't think he's in any respiratory distress, but I'm seriously considering taking him to the ER, and we aren't the parents who go to the doctor every time the kids are sick. I mean, we've been twice for illness between 3 kids and 5 years. But his noisy breathing is stressing me out! He was fine before bed. Why is it always worse at night?! @2goofykids last year on Halloween day, I fractured my tailbone going down a slide with my baby. It was never ever stopped hurting, and according to other broken-butt sufferers, probably never will. I think it may be the thing I'm most nervous about during labor (pushing and pressure on my coccyx). @soxfan9968 your MIL needs to back off! You're not overreacting at all - totally valid feelings! I'd def have husband tell her that she needs to take those complaints somewhere else, bc you are his wife and he will not listen to her insult you by calling you selfish etc. She's not your mom; she's completely unreasonable. Good on you for standing your ground! @red3ye i absolutely cannot believe the audacity of your sister. She could have at least warned you before hand so you could quarantine. I mean seriously WTF. That is so effing far from ok I can't even. Sorry, she sucks for doing that to you; hope everyone stays well. And whoever was asking about leaky boobs (sorry I can't remember now) I never leak until after birth, but I second @yodapup on the bamboobies! They are so soft against sore nipples and super thin but so absorbent. The disposable ones always made me itchy, so I went with reusable. Of course with the last baby, I hardly even used them at all - if sleep with a prefold (cloth dipe like a burpie) over my boobs, and during the day I'd just out one finger of pressure over the side I wasn't nursing on, or if I felt a letdown. I'm sure I looked silly LOL @herfst80 I've done both - we started with a bin and they are just "okay" … we use both cloth and disposables. The cloth I switched to a hanging bag that I don't close (it seems stinkier if I close it). And the sposies I just toss out my back door into a small bin that I empty every couple days. That's just poop though, now we usually throw pee diapers in the trash.

@oceanchild so sorry croup has hit your house! It's so contagious and viral, so nothing you can do about it. Make sure everyone washes their hands in your house, A LOT! For babies if you run a really hot, hot shower and sit with your baby in the steamy bathroom, it really helps their breathing. I hope baby feels better soon and mom gets some sleep
March 2016 Moms: January Siggy Challenge "Pregnancy Problems"
Good news is that Joaquin seems to have spared us! Yay, us! Boo for the coastlines...I've seen some pretty scary flooding photos, and I hope everyone is OK.
This weekend my son came down with a fever, then me, now my hubby. I have no other symptoms, but they are both sick. So weird, since I'm usually the one with no immune system to speak of.
However, I had a happy Monday morning wake up today when I rolled to my side and felt my little one squirming around. So sweet. Happy Monday, y'all!
What a morning I've had! First, my blow dryer blew the breaker in the bathroom, so I had to go down to the scary basement to flip it on. Problem is our landlord/maintenance/ NOBODY has labeled our breaker box, and none of them were popped in neutral, so I had to flip them one by one until the right one did the trick.
THEN, there is construction on each of the 3 roads possible for me to take to work. I chose the middle road, got right to town, and they closed it down- I had to drive through the HOSPITAL parking lot to get through to work!
Oh- it gets better...the phone is ringing off the hook (when it wants to ring- still having on and off issues with that), my boss is already gone because a child in the other school is out of control (I've NEVER seen teachers this unable to calm children down), I've been trying to get progress report cards done, and now my boss said she wants a spreadsheet of the progress grades, by student, so she can see who is at the warning level for low grades. Seriously?- all the progress reports are done electronically through an online database- so its not like you can't go on there yourself and SEE the grades, BY STUDENT... I know I'm a natural born complainer but really? Now I don't mean to trash talk my profession, but now I know what secretaries come off as lazy at times. Half the time we are bored, and the other half of the time we are doing ridiculous medial and most of the time useless tasks like this. I swear there are days I feel so braindead- I have a 4 year degree, but honestly right now I make more money without using it...but I am beginning to regret this job based on the fact that it isn't challenging enough for me.
