Woot woot @cait7425 !! Sometimes it really feels like babies can give us just what we need, just when we need it, no?! (And then other times... Well, babies be babies.)
Thanks a lot you for your kind words as I melt down. DH is a little fed up with my anxieties because his point is that we are doing this for my career while his stays on the back burner. True, but it's unfair that I'm not allowed to be anxious (he says I am, but he dislikes my questioning if this is really the right thing to do)...
But anyway, my cousin came to visit last night (the one whose parents both passed away unexpectedly within two days of each other at the end of July - right as she was starting her life after school, first job, first apartment, etc). She is, of course, having a pretty difficult time and just needed to be with family this weekend.
It's always helpful to have your worries be put into perspective. My cousin and I are close, and she stayed with us last night, and very lovingly and kindly put me back into my box. So now I'm still normal anxious about moving, but not melting down.
Thanks again, ladies. Your support on here means more than you know/I can express.
( that WAS a good one. I'm going to take it and share it with my really good friend, her little girl was in the NICU for awhile and she always had kept the NICU nurses close to her heart.
When I logged into the Bump app, it asked for feedback. I sent a bunch, and hope you ladies will do so if the option pops up for you, too. Let's get this thing improved!
Some nights I have dreams that lo is with me on the bed and spits up on me. One night I woke up my fiancé to get me a burp cloth (so asleep that he didn't even realize the baby is sleeping and not with me ) and this morning I woke up with tissues in the bed. That I grabbed in my dream because lo "spit up" I find this so weird.. What if I take her out of the pack n play in the middle of the night? She doesn't spit up much either so kinda funny that my dreams are her spitting up all over me.
Speaking of doing things in your sleep.. DH sleeps on his side of the bed and I sleep on mine. We don't really touch during the night. Well, the other night we did and in my sleepy state, I thought it was DD (who doesn't even sleep with us) and I started to cradle her in my arms. Finally I hear, "what are you doing?!" And open my eyes to see me cradling DH's head.
@mvargas12 that's so funny. I hope I don't wake the baby up because apparently it seems so real so that I woke my fiancé up to get me a burp cloth and he jumped out of bed. Pretty funny in the morning when I'm like why is a burp cloth here? Oh.. I thought that was in my dream.
I used to do that in my early sleep deprivation weeks. I would wake up in a panic that LO was in my bed and I forgot about her. I have a long history of sleep walking/talking that escalated during pregnancy. So funny that you were cradling his head!

Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
I sleep...stuff. As far as I know, I don't sleep walk (or haven't yet), but I do carry on conversations in my sleep, I text in my sleep, I receive instructions and act on them in my sleep (once I woke up and was freezing and noticed the window was open. It hadn't been when we went to sleep. I ask DH why he opened the window and he's like 'you opened it. I asked you if it was OK to open it because I was warm and you got up to open it'). And I don't remember a thing once I wake up. Its so bad I've taken steps with family in the event they need to reach me overnight, because I could absolutely take a call of a very serious nature overnight and have NO IDEA come morning. This is one reason I didn't want LO in bed with us - I am just not aware in my sleep. The few times I have purposely had him next to me in bed I slept like so much crap because I just could not get restful sleep, for stressing that if I fell asleep all the way, I would crush him and not know.
I'm like a stone when I sleep. I don't move or talk or anything. I wish I did! I always wake up really sore from being in the same position for so long.
I'm so behind because my app keeps crashing! @rklinge0 I wouldn't be at all offended by that! @alcrimmins I just ordered some football leg warmers from ETSY but paid too much. I'm going to have to check out Amazon. Too cute!
How far past an expiration date would you eat butter that has been in your freezer?
Is it the official expiration date or the "sell by" date? If its the sell by date, then I'd say you have plenty of time. If its the expiration date - I'd probably use the sniff and eyeball test. Looks OK, smells OK... Probably OK. I mean, they had butter back in the day when they didn't have refrigeration. I don't know that I'd let it go for a long time, all the same... So, maybe a week or two? More? Hard to say... We go thru butter pretty quick in this house. I don't think I've ever been in this position, or will ever be in it.
@KonaCoffeeBean imo you are good to eat it, if it was frozen soon after It was bought. I buy cheese all the time and freeze it and have thawed and eaten it almost a year later. I don't freeze butter but my mom does and I don't think she ever actually checks the date when eating/cooking with it.

Thank God, cuz we're in going through great-grandma's pantry territory.
@KonaCoffeeBean no he told me she could wear it to playgroup at our local down syndrome group but not when going to our friend's houses and playing with their babies. (We had a baby boom among friends this year.) But when I showed my friends the shirt they all thought it was funny.
@rklinge0 I think it's precious. I saw one once that said "Am I rocking this extra chromosome or what?". I love it. I've also been meaning to tell you about a little girl with DS that I follow on Instagram. The account is @babylocklyn. I think she's about 1 year old now and it is the cutest, most inspiring page. If you're on Instagram you should check it out.
So I did an unofficial intro in July since I've been commenting a little more over there (mostly when they talk about vaccinations) and someone over there said they lurk over here cause we 'have a good thing going on' over here. Cue internal feeling of a suave collar tug and eyebrow quirk - yeah, June moms are badass
Whose babies sleep with their mouths open? Mine does a lot due to a small/retruded lower jaw and I keep reading that it is bad for development but is that just older kids? I don't want his jaw to get worse but when I try to close it, it just pops open again. I feel bad as my first thought is that I want him to have a strong jaw and chin so he gets the ladies and my secondary thought was about dental work he might have to go through. I swear I'm not vain about myself!
@janit368 my baby does. She is definitely a mouth breather. We are working on some things with a therapist so hopefully it will lessen. Does your lo only do it at night?
@janit368 oh my goodness you are a mind reader I JUST mentioned this to my husband. It's tongue tie/high palate related, unfortunately. Contributes to non-restful sleep, concentration issues etc. I'm a heavy mouth breather but because of extensive allergy and sinus issues from 2 years on.

Anyone getting tension head aches? I find myself getting pretty rough tension headaches every day. I try to watch my shoulders when I feed LO, and that seems to help a bit. I'm also trying to avoid taking meds every day unless it's too sever. I could probably drink a bit more water. Anyways...does anyone have any suggestions on what has helped you?
He does it while napping too depending on how he is laying @rklinge0 but he keeps the mouth closed during waking hours
@cait7425 I love lavender essential oil for headaches. Just dot some around the hairline and rub it in. Can mix equal parts of it and an oil or you can do it neat. Our LOs are getting big enough to handle smelling the lavender I think
@rklinge0 Did your DH explain why it is offensive, or why it is offensive in some situations but not others? I'm just curious because I can't understand why anyone would take offense to that. I think it's cute.
Well the speech therapist acted like it's fine to put a finger underneath for support and to remind her to keep it closed. But not exactly sure how well it would work while sleeping.

Tension headaches were and are my jam. I get them really bad. As soon as I think I'm getting one, I medicate. Tylenol is pretty sucky for my headaches, but its better than nothing. Massage is best, for me anyway. Stretches can help if I catch the headache early enough. I personally wouldn't use oils like PP mentioned, but that is only because after my headache passes a certain point, they evolve into what I call a tension migraine. I get really sensitive to smells and lights, can be nauseous and almost always have 'altered state' (it hurts so bad I feel kinda drunk). If I got them every day, I think I'd kill myself. I'd at least stop nursing, because I would need stronger meds than Tylenol or Advil (I used to take Fioricet for them)
So yeah, watch your posture. Try not to hunch and bring your shoulders near your ears. Look at how you are sleeping and that your head and neck are supported and properly cradled (I use one of those pillows that's contoured with the rise at either side and the valley in the middle). I try to also switch sides when taking care of LO - when I prop him for his bottle I may prop using my left arm one time, and try to use my right the next. I try to switch when I carry him one-armed too. I also will occasionally self massage my shoulder (they 97% of the time start on one specific side) even if its not bothering me while LO nurses and is laying on the boppy.
I don't know how long your LO is sleeping at night, but the only for sure way to make it better (for me) is to get some pain meds in me and then go sleep it off. In a perfect world, I'd drop some pain meds, then get a strong shoulder and neck massage for half an hour while the meds kicked in. Then go to bed and sleep AT LEAST 6-7 hours, but 8 would be better. Since this is pretty much impossible now, I just try to prevent them as much as possible.

Its even funnier, considering my lack of cheer for the holidays. Bah. Humbug.
