Have any of you started using the stroller without the car seat? Or an umbrella stroller?

Everything I've read has said about 6 months. My mom would put my almost 11 week old in an umbrella stroller tomorrow if I let her.
But now I have to stress about picking out an umbrella stroller.
I have a britax b agile. Do I need a light weight stroller?
My mom too! That's why I asked! We also have the b agile. My mom took LO out for a few walks in it and she seemed fine. It reclines. I was just wondering because it's ridiculous hauling that thing some places.
  • We have the b agile double for our twins, which only holds one car seat. So we've never used it with a car seat. But we have used it since at least 4 weeks old in the fully reclined position. They seem comfy and secure in there, and we weren't on any crazy streets or off roading with them.
  • This looks familiar.
  • Just took LO for a walk in our city mini today. She is 15 weeks.. Reclined all the way back she was very happy, basically lying down (lifted her up for the picture).. The harness was tightened all the way so I don't think we could have put her in it any earlier
  • Also saw a girl walking by with the same stroller and a tiny baby and wanted to talk to ask her to be my friend but I chickened out :(

Our stroller isn't one of the $15 cheapies. It has a 5 point adjustable harness like a swing and it can recline. We've used it since LO was 2 weeks old and it was too hot for a carrier. Reclined all the way back is basically flat. We did the same with DS and have never had issues.

Had no idea you could use them if they reclined all the way! However...my LO wants to sit up if he's flat so I'm not sure he'd like that.
  • Oh, that reminds me, have you all heard of the app/website Next Door? It's kind of like a social network just for your neighborhood. I've had it for a while but it's finally catching on here. Today a lady from my street with girls my boys' ages messaged me!

I LOVE this app. More so for the comedic relief it gives on almost a daily basis. People post and comment with the funniest stuff.
  • Holy front page full of bumped threads, Batman!

  • Sorry melly.. Had to

    ;)
  • Was this because of the CIO thread, or something else I missed?
  • This Bump App is a mess. Shuts down every time I use it! Haven't been able to read for days...ugh! :((
  • ^^^ same! So annoying. :-w
  • @virginiaunicorn11 I'm so sorry for your sadness today. LOs are great to lift your spirits. What are you moving overseas for? You are in Germany, correct? What prompted you to move there originally?

Thanks! We were in Germany for a year for a professional development fellowship, and now we are back in the U.S. until January.
I'm a government relations rep for an international non-profit organization. Previously US focused, but switching to Europe. Which is exciting and what DH and I wanted... I'm just getting some anxiety about pulling the trigger. There is no "end date" to our move, and we are very close to our families.
  • @virginiaunicorn11 that is amazing, and so brave of you. We are tied to our families as well ( my choice). DH would move out of the jersey in a minute for cheaper living. It sounds like you'll do great in Europe. Plus, now everyone will have a fantastic reason to travel to Europe.
  • @virginiaunicorn11 I am so sorry you are feeling so down and overwhelmed today. Calming vibes and happy thoughts coming your way!
  • @virginiaunicorn11 I'm sorry for the loss of your grandfather. I believe he would be extremely proud of you as a mother and truly honored you gave your son his name (which i'm still dying to know, btw). My grandfather died about five years ago and I still dream that he is alive quite frequently. We gave our son the middle name, "benner," which was also his middle name. My grandma said he would have been so excited and proud. I think your grandfather would be too.

It does get a little easier, but it's never easy. I don't know about you, but my grandpa's death was the first death of someone really close to me. It kind of changes you in a way. There is always a sadness that wasn't there before. But you get to have all the wonderful memories too. I've grown more grateful, and a little less sad in the last couple of years. I hope you feel better.

@virginiaunicorn11 girl, you are wise. You always have such great advice and an even-keeled temperament. I have no doubt you will rock your move back overseas. I'm sorry about your grandpa, grief is both hurtful and yet poignant. I'm glad your LO shares your grandpa's name and keeps that connection. I wasn't close to any of my grandparents, and they have now all passed into the clearing, but I remember my grandpa on my mom's side fondly. If we had lived closer to him and I could've spent more time with him, I'm sure we would have a made a special connection like you had with your grandpa.

Edited cause my phone ate words, again

  • Moms who still have post baby stomach pooch... have you found any good leggings that don't make you look like a doughy blimp? I feel like all my old leggings dig into my belly. I'm trying to find some with a good thick waistband. Anyone found any? Losing the belly is SOOOOOO hard. 3:-O

I have a pair by "hue" that are decently thick. If u wear them with a looser shirt it generally hides everything. I think I bought them on amazon. Just note they run long, so I cuff mine at the bottom
  • ^^^yikes!!! How stressful and scary on so many levels! Did you get the license plate number? And a loaded gun right near the nursery! That would totally freak me out!
  • @AlwaysSunny1012 yeah not sure what my husband was thinking with that being his place for one of the guns. I'm sure it's if someone is breaking in in the MOTN but...nope.

And then another old minivan pulled into the neighbors driveway (our driveways are connected) and creeped super slow while staring at our house. So I opened the garage door so they would see someone was home..and they turned around and left. So creepy. We live in a super normal area and rarely lock our doors so I have no idea what's going on but it's weird.
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
  • That would terrify me @dancegurl1118. We don't keep peanut products in the house because one of the boys is allergic but everyone is allergic to bullets! I think a gun in the house would drive me crazy.
  • @ChardeeMacDennis I'm not anti-gun, I'm anti guns that aren't locked up. I'll be on his ass to move it as soon as I get home, he won't refuse -- he's reasonable, I'm sure it was just a stupid oversight that better not happen again.
