I'm still holding out faith that it's MUD and that people like that don't really exist.... I'm so conflicted on baby showers. I'd never have one at home but here in the States there's already talk about it from my friends and ILs. I'll probably end up having one but I think I'll feel very uncomfortable....I don't know
I have been to a couple of showers where they ask you to bring an unwrapped gift and then they just have a table to display them so everyone can see the cute baby stuff but the hostesses doesn't have to feel awkward opening in front of everyone and it gives them more time to visit. That might be a good idea if you feel weird opening gifts in front of everyone. I know I did!

I would be lying if I said I wouldn't be hurt if they didn't throw me one. I am only the second in my generation to have babies and the first married in and they threw her one.
I know this is selfish and childish But I miss so much being away from them and this will just be another one of those things I didn't get to do.

Thanks @Parker16772 I've heard of that too except I feel like at a shower everyone wants to see the guest of honour opening the gift *they* chose, and I can totally understand that. I think maybe if I just keep it really really small it will be ok. Or maybe I'll come round in a few months, at least it's not for a while....which reminds me that I don't even know when these things should happen!

This will be my parents' first grandchild. I'm glad that my family is excited but I just really really don't like attention but I'd probably be hurt as well if they weren't this excited.
Lol girls, do I need to go into how we all got into this mess? And no, I don't mean the fun stuff, I mean explain how your body works and what has to happen to make a baby, and what doesn't happen when you already have one. But I tell you what, if I get double pregnant, I will tell you all before anybody else.

It sounds like if anyone will get thrown a shower, it's you I personally got to spend a good chunk of time with family this summer (and I live abroad too) and they really spoiled me rotten because I'm pregnant. I won't see them until Christmas either so I definitely understand the emotional side of things you're going through. I think your Christmas will be all the more special not only because you're pregnant but also because you've been away. I'm sure they'll fuss and fawn over you like you're the first pregnant woman they've ever met. It'll be lovely
I don't know how you ladies manage that! Kudos to you both @ecwk and @ACleanLife24. My sister and parents (sis lives at home) are 10minutes away and I'm still constantly on the phone with my sis because I miss her and I spend every Sunday with my parents.
Not that crazy...if I tot up all the money I've spent flying transatlantic over the last twelve years....well I have a mini panic attack. But as you said it is needed! I *have* to see my family, I can't live my life without it and the money will always be there for a flight. I may have to sacrifice other things but I don't care because my priority is getting home! I just wonder wtf I'm going to do when I have a baby?!?!? Maybe best not to think of that right now!

When the baby is 8 weeks we are going back to NY for 6 weeks sans daddy.... also due to my job change I can travel at cheaper times again so will.probably go.for a few weeks in Nov before I return from my maternity....
When DH and I got married we calculated 3 years of our flights and we could have paid cash for our car.....

@soxfan9968 for me it sucks, not going to lie. However I'm in a pretty special situation; as a teacher I go home three times a year and my family come once a year. So I keep busy and manage. My SILs live down south and I actually see my sisters more often than DH sees his! So it could be worse!
Anyone else change their clothes multiple times? I just changed into 3 different pair of pajamas, trying to find something comfortable, and finally had to settle on a pair of DH's gym shorts and a tank top just to get my body remotely cooled down! Its still almost 80 degrees here at 7:45 pm! I can't stand this heat anymore! I had thick sweats and a hoodie, changed into thinner sweatpants and a t shirt, then a tank and a pair of my shorts- but they no longer fit me, so I settled for DH's gym shorts. I haven't complained about anything so far this pregnancy, other than the damn heat! I was pregnant for DD all summer and i was 6-7 months along, and was totally comfortable. Now I'm early on and can't stand the HEAT!!!

I'm completely over the u/s pics of nothing but private parts. When did this become acceptable to people other than your SO?! I get that it's a baby in your belly but also, it's a baby in your belly! And it's YOUR baby! I'm not okay with strangers seeing any of my children's private parts inside the womb or out. Okay, I'm done. :-q

I also can't stand the heat. It's been gorgeous and low 80s here all week and I just grinch about it being too hot:). Partially it's the nausea, being hot at all just exacerbates it. My first pregnancy seemed like it reset my thermostat, though, I never used to get so hot!
I have to politely disagree. I don't usually have a hard time telling the difference between a shot of a whole baby and a full blown, legs spread, butt shot. There's a pretty distinct difference (to me at least). It's just inappropriate.

It took me ages to get caught up today! Tb has been busy and it is impossible for me to check it before ds goes to bed now that I am back in the classroom. Ugh! my obs office called today and rescheduled my appointment until Monday. It is so hard to wait! However, I am 99% sure that i felt the baby today quite noticeably this afternoon (more obvious than before) and I am super excited to have that comfort over the weekend.

Well, I can definitely tell the difference between a whole baby/ profile of baby's head, and stuff that's NOT those angles. But looking at a blurred, pixelated image of fetus genitalia, which hardly looks anything anyhow, just doesn't get my panties in a bunch.
But that said, I have never posted "money shots" of my children in utero before either. So.
I've just been noticing recently when some people @ me they say ewck instead of ecwk. It doesn't bother me at all, I know I'm being tagged but I can't help but wonder if it's because it's closer to ewcm and for anyone who was TTC for a while, that'll be a pretty familiar term! Lol I should have chosen my name more carefully!
So let me ask you ladies, I'm taking ampicillin for my UTI and sinus infection but every time I take it for some reason I puke 5 to 10 minutes later. I've taken it twice and it has to be taken on an empty stomach but I just can't seem to keep this pill down. I haven't puked much this pregnancy but have done it twice today both times after taking the pill. I'm calling my doctor tomorrow if I can't keep the morning one down. Just wondering if any of you have any suggestions. TIA.
@lightrox that sucks, I'm sorry. I was going to suggest taking it right before you go to bed so that maybe you could sleep through the nausea but that seems a little unrealistic. It's tough you have to take it on an empty stomach.... Hope it goes better the next time
You have to take it on an empty stomach? I was given ampicillin as well (for toothache) but my doc said I could take it with food as long as it helps it stay down.
I know I thought how weird it was that I needs to be on an empty stomach when I call tomorrow I'll ask if I can take with food but the instructions I have clearly state at least an hour before you eat or two hours after. I had no problem keeping my prenatal down its just the stupid ampicillin.

I should be sleeping but I'm stressing over this pill and how much worse my UTI can get if I don't take my antibiotic. I'm downing cranberry juice and water like a champ so hopefully that helps me a bit.

Haha, that's definitely crossed my mind when I see your screen name. That and "ewok," which is decidedly cuter than ewcm.
I'm tired of people asking me if I'm sure there aren't two babies in there. I started showing at 11 weeks, I have no hips and a short torso, nowhere to go but out. Sometimes I want to lie when people ask me how far along I am so I won't get the question. So irritating.

It was crazy to spend £500 to fly 7+ hours for a 6 day visit but my DH knows I mentally need to see them....
