  • HBamama2BValium? That's awesome your DH will be home with you. I wonder if I can convince mine to stay. Yes they give it to you to relax the uterus after everything with ER it makes you feel like you had the best night out with the girls :)

  • So happy to see this month going well for you guys!

I had such a frustrating day. My REs office forgot to send the order for my meds, but luckily I called and yesterday and they corrected it and placed a rush on the meds to get here Saturday. But THEN they forgot to note the dosage for my estrace so the pharmacy put the whole order on hold and sent it back but forgot to call me or the RE to correct it. Luckily again, I called to find out what my copay was. Then I had to scramble around talking to the RE and Freedom pharmacy several more times to get it straightened out. Now my meds may not get here tomorrow. I don't need them till Tuesday but I won't be available to sign for the HCG so I'm not sure how that will work. So frustrated by all the errors, I'm almost ready to try a new re. Definitely will if this cycle doesn't work. It's just way too nerve wracking before my first cycle.
  • That's awesome! I'm excited for you!

  • Ugh, that's so frustrating. Freedom told me I had the option of signing or not signing but that if I chose not to sign and something happened to the meds (ex if they were stolen) then they weren't liable. Can you call them back and tell them to take off the signature requirement?

  • I asked. Apparently HCG is now a 'controlled substance.' I was like 'are f*ucking sh*ttting me?! It's pregnant lady urine!!!' I think the lady I ended up with today was just nuts.
  • I have a hard time believing HCG is a controlled substance.  People by it off the internet for that HCG diet - which just doesn't seem like a good idea...

  • Hope things went great with you ET @Knottie24173360!

I had my ER on Thursday- it went great and I had no discomfort afterwards for anyone who hasn't had theirs yet and is nervous:)
The progesterone shots unfortunately not as fun:(

Just for those who might be freaking out about the super ovulators in our group (I was a bit nervous seeing some of the big #s out there!), I had 13 follicles going in, 9 eggs retrieved, 8 mature and all 8 fertilized- remember it just takes 1!!!

Good luck to all the girls in their TWW baby dust to you!!!

  • That is so great @2legbaby ! I'm glad your ER went well without too much discomfort and yes I was worried about the super production! Lol. I'm glad to see so many embabies for everyone this month! We've been knocking it out of the park so far!!!

I took my last OCP last night. U/s and bw on Tuesday then hopefully stims starting that day! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for 20 follicles. I have PCOS and am worried if I respond too well they might cancel the fresh transfer due to OHSS risk. Me today to Tuesday: :-S 8-> Switching back and forth every ten minutes lol.
  • @HBamama2B I have PCOS as well, and I got OHSS about 4 days into stims. Starting the day of ER I was in bad shape. Today is day 4 post ER and I am slowly starting to feel better. Not saying it will happen to you, but be prepared to be off work to recover before ET. So you have HCG trigger? Ask about high dose lupron as trigger if you do hyper stim...it's supposed to help the OHSS.
  • @HBamama2B I have PCOS as well, they were pretty conservative with my meds to make sure I avoided OHSS and I am glad for it! Excited that you are starting soon- totally get the ups and downs with the emotion/excitement- some days I have been soooo excited and next I'm like "this is never going to work". If they do have to cancel your fresh transfer just take solace in the fact that frozen transfer rates really seem to be better than fresh (because your body is not all messed up)....although the waiting (as always) brutal:)

  • Thanks for the update @2legbaby I'm glad your ER went well! My RE told me I'll be completely sedated for the retrieval. Is that normal?

I'm dreading the progesterone shots. I've heard it's best to heat up the medication, ice the injection spot, then massage the area for a few minutes afterwards. If you're doing that, have you found that to be helpful?

  • @LCK0830  you are out for the ER- they gave me fentanyl/valium and propofol so it is an IV anesthesia. I remember having a conversation with the nurses with my legs literally strapped up in the air and the doctor walked in and then I was back in the recovery room with my IVF nurse and husband- it was crazy!

I haven't tried heating the progesterone, it's at room temp so not cold anyhow...the intimidating part is the length of needle and making sure it goes in the muscle. I haven't found that the needle or injection while giving it hurts, but it smarts afterward so definitely have been ice packing after the injection....kind of entertaining because my husband is very anti- anything bad happening to me, does fine with his blood and anyone but me, I can get the needle in for him, but he has to check to make sure no blood and do the injection. The first time he pulled the needle out  after the injection was finished and was like "it's bleeding!!!!" in a panic, I'm all cool and tell him that's ok, that happens and then wrench around to look at my hiney and see this river of blood....apparently hit a skin bleeder on the way out....yikes!!!!
we started doing the injections in bed so if one of us passes out we're good LOL

  • Do you know how long you're under anesthesia? Being completely out of it freaks me out but I guess I'll have to get over that.

Haha aww that's sweet! My husband isn't a fan of needles and feels so badly that he'll have to inject me with them. He lost all color in his face when our medications came in the mail. My RE originally prescribed me a progesterone suppository but I had read that the injection is more potent so I asked for the oil instead. I might be regretting that decision once I start.

  • I love this board, lol! Thanks @athompson0308 I will definitely ask about switching the trigger if I have any symptoms. And thanks @2legbaby! As we started our new cycle today I made my DH flip a coin to demonstrate our new odds, gotta love it!
  • @LCK0830 I was out about 20-30mins and woke up real fast, we got there 7am, I went in about 7:30 and we were in our car leaving by 8:40!

I assumed the reason my RE chose the progesterone injections was because they were more effective, I just keep reminding myself that every needle poke will be worth it in the end:)

  • I just got all my meds today and broke down and cried when they were laid out. Such an overwhelming sight! I couldn't believe. DH is great, but he's definitely freaked about the PIO needles!
  • Colleen0516 yes as a precaution.... I don't mind the shots if hubbie doesn't hit the same spot twice lol I already have a bruised rump and it hasn't been a week yet! BUT positive thoughts because this is what we signed up for :) so I am trying to be a champ. lol

My biggest thing is my RE changed my prenatal and DHA and it makes me sick to my stomach and its a 3 a day ugh... everything else I can handle.

HBamama2B  don't stress!!! I bought a white board and that really helped me keep track of everything and kept DH in on the loop so to speak. Just think the only time you have DH poke is at trigger and PIO time.

  • Thanks @Knottie24173360 ! I felt like such a goob crying at the meds. :\">
  • The progesterone shots are intimidating at first. On night one, I kept turning around stopping my husband just before he injected me. (Imagine a 4 year old having a fit. Lol) I found that if you put an ice pack on the area for 15 minutes before, you don't feel a thing. And make sure to massage it really roughly afterwards. It disperses the meds and helps with next day pain....I didn't do that the first two nights and sitting was paunful.
  • @Colleen0516 on my  protocol sheet it says that if they transfer and positive pregnancy test that the meds would be continued to the first fetal ultrasound where a heart beat is detected....I haven't asked more about this, because we are still hoping for a frozen transfer (got the call yesterday all 8 embryos dividing like they should be!) but just so you aren't freaking out too bad- I would ask you nurse/RE next time you talk to them:)
If we are doing a frozen cycle I get to stop the PIO day 4

@HBamama2B you will do great- my friend who has gone through this 3 times says its ALWAYS ok to cry some over IVF meds....spilled milk totally different situation:)  I found having a "ritual" that I followed every night helped out. I would sit in the same spot, draw up same drug in same order, then cross of each med as I gave it on my protocol sheet. Tell your hubby while longer the PIO needle doesn't really feel any different...it's just after all that oily drug gets in your muscle!

  • @Knottie24173360 hang in there! Need a distraction? I recommend reading a good IVF book. I've tried reading other things, but when you need to obsess, you need to obsess. Do you like funny or science?
  • A little of both

  • Best funny so far: laughing is conceivable by Lori shandle-fox

Another good read, but more emotional: breeding in captivity by Stacy Bolt

Best science so far: IVF a patient's guide by Rebecca Matthews
    --all above are Amazon kindle.

Warning: I literally laughed until tears or what ever I was drinking came out of my face reading laughing is conceivable, it's very pithy. So be aware you may look like a crazy person on the subway.
  • I love to read so I got all three I have kindle unlimited so worth the extra 10 a month :)
I also grabbed "Infertility the 2ww companion guide"
