I eat whatever I want whenever I want. I'm terrible at the whole calorie or even proportions thing. I eat all day, mostly good stuff but some that is admittedly crap - I've been the same weight since 8th grade, so far with baby only gained 4 lbs @17 weeks. People hate me for it.
That's half of a confession the other half is I sincerely hope my child has a metabolism like me because I've honestly never weighed more than 105 and I would have no idea at all how to help someone with weight issues. I know that stupid and semi obnoxious I just genuinely wouldn't know what to do!
I can relate. I keep healthy (and mostly organic) food in the house and usually eat that, but if I want a donut or some Taco Bell, I'm gonna eat it and not think twice about it. I don't feel bad about it or worry that I'm gonna gain weight, pregnant or not. I also totally understand wanting your kid to have your metabolism or whatever it is that allows us to do this. My H and his family have struggled with weight, so it could happen with our kid, and I don't really know how to help with that, though I've been doing some research. The consensus seems to be keeping good food in the house, allowing treats once in a while, and maintaining an active lifestyle, while never singling the kid out. It's about the whole family being healthy.
@amandabobanda, your siggy is so tempting right now. I'm leaving for vacation super early in the morning tomorrow but am now wondering how late our cider mill is open tonight.....
My confession is that while I could not care less whether you buy organic or not, I will side eye the crap out of a shopping cart filled with nothing but garbage (multiple cases of pop, sugary cereals, ice cream, boxed dinners, etc.), especially if you are obviously a parent. I know it's not right for me to judge as a FTM, but get some veggies in there.
My cart usually has sugary cereal, ice cream and lots of junk food. It's all for DH, he is a junk food fein! I usually try to make him healthier versions of those foods but he eats a lot! Lol. We typically stay away from it and eat healthier options.
My mom who has always been size 00, over controlled my food consumption when growing up. She constantly criticized or praised my weight well into my college days. I truly believe that this caused my horrible relationship with food. I have a love hate relationship with food and I put way too much emphasis on food in my life in general. And because of that, my weight has fluctuated so much even well into my adult years ( we are talking range of 110 lbs to 175lbs back and forth) I could dress 10 different size of women just from my closet.
I am having a hard time on how to teach my kids to have a healthy relationship with food. I want to teach them to eat wholesome and healthy without obsessing over it.
I had a bad eating disorder for years. I used to obsess I too, used have quite a range of sizes in my closet. Having a daughter really got me to do some soul searching because I really couldn't imagine watching her struggle like that. I am going to do my best to teach her that the number on the scale doesn't matter. What matters are the numbers in her blood work. What matters is she can go up a flight of stairs without being winded. I want to teach her to make choices that make her feel good. Like, she can wake up in the morning feeling refreshed, not tired. I just want to emphasize feeling well and energized is the goal. That means that I have had to adopt that for myself. Easier said than done but its been healing for me. I hope you find peace for your situation. It is hard to tackle that.
I totally and completely agree with you on this, I have thought and thought how to raise my DD without that "weight obsessed" mentality. I have battled eating disorders for years and sometimes I still relapse, it's tough, and that's why I don't want her to suffer like I do.
My FFFC- Last night DS was constantly waking up and crying, DH is off tomorrow, so I pretended to be asleep, so he could deal with him. In my defense, I'm always the one doing it anyways, I deserve a break right??
@amandabobanda - that's actually a really good plan I will have to keep that in mind
Ok another confession to change the topic - I HATE with a passion leggings as pants. I can't. If I can see the outline of your crotch and exactly what color your ass is every time you bend over its a Nono. I totally judge those people and hate seeing it. There are too many scary looking leapord legs running around.
I also just bought maternity leggings and am now judging myself every day I'm not at work because I am totally in just them and a tunic, but to me it's ok if your butt and crotch are out of sight.

Ha! Ok I actually have no problem with wearing leggings as pants... BUT the shirt has to be long enough to cover the butt! Doesn't matter if you're a size 0 or 18. Just cover the butt.

Yes! If you're gonna wear leggings, you should also be wearing a long sweater or shirt that covers your ass. Nobody needs such a clear picture of your parts, no matter what size you are.

I'm so envious! I have one more year until DD starts school and I wish she was going now lol. Toddlers are hard!!!
FFFC, I haven't hardly left the couch today except to get DD breakfast, which we ate in front of the TV. She doesn't watch tv but I've had it on all morning. To make myself feel better I'll say that I WANT to get off the couch and do something but this headache is killer today and I don't want to push it into a migraine.
@amandabobanda, your siggy is so tempting right now. I'm leaving for vacation super early in the morning tomorrow but am now wondering how late our cider mill is open tonight.....
We're going up north this weekend so I'm thinking it's a good time to pop my cider donut cherry for the year!
I'm a calorie counter usually, but not when I'm pregnant, lol. YES pregnancy is my excuse for eating junk whenever I want and I give no f*cks about it!
Most of my grocery shopping cart yesterday was fruit, meat, and milk; this is my breakfast though! Yes, two donuts. About 800 calories. Oh well!
Have you tried the pumpkin cheesecake donut from dunkin donuts? I am DYING for it but keep talking myself out of it every morning.
I haven't. I love pumpkin and I love cheesecake, but it sounds way too rich for me. I typically stray away from the filled donuts.
I DID, however, successfully make some orgasmic pumpkin ice cream last night! yummmmm, tastes exactly like pumpkin pie!

Just received my Old Navy maternity leggings in the mail yesterday! DH had a good laugh at the full front panel since they're regular rise in the back haha. I've never worn leggings before (I'm a jeans girl!) but these + an oversized top are going to be so perfect for fall. I only have 1 big sweater to wear with them-- where's a good spot for cute tunics?
I've never owned a pair of leggings, lol. Even though I love the look of them with a long shirt/sweater!! I keep meaning to buy a pair but then I don't. I had tried a pair of galaxy ones at Kohls once and fell in love but they were too expensive for me at the time and now I regret it because they're discontinued.

Speaking of leggings, I guess this could be my other fffc. When I was pregnant with DD, I had a pair of black maternity leggings and I would wear a black sports bra with it. I would pull the leggings over my belly and tick them into my bra. I walked around the house, all day like that. It was sweet comfort until DH said it looked like a penguin suit! Lol.
Even when not pregnant I still wear my full panel maternity leggings (with dresses, I don't have any intention of showing off my butt.) They are so comfy and because of the full panel there is no muffin top!
@natsfans84 I just got mine too!! I got the low panel because I don't really care for full panel and they are a little too big in the belly area yet so they keep falling down and my ass has been hanging out all day. But I don't really care about it. So comfy.
Also, Target had some really cute longer maternity tops for pretty cheap when I was there last. Like $10-$15 cheap.

Does Target sell maternity clothes in their stores? I've been having trouble finding maternity clothes in actual brick & mortar stores. If so, definitely stopping there on way home today. I am going away for Labor Day but all my maternity stuff is for fall

I wear leggings as pants almost every day. No shame. My leggings are thick athletic variety, though, so to me they really aren't different than yoga pants with no flare at the bottom.

At my Target they do. It isn't a huge selection but it's something. It's the only store (other than Macy's) in my area that sells maternity clothes in the store.

@ohbaby714 girl you're missing out! I hated the look and the thought of full panel maternity pants, but they are THE BEST. I want all my maternity pants to cover my whole belly now lol. They're so comfy and smooth everything out.. I'm in love with pants.

This is me, 100%. I have always been secretly super judgy of leggings-as-pants, but since my work pants have stopped fitting, I've begrudgingly started incorporating leggings into my wardrobe. I figure, as long as my tush and crotch are covered, all is good -- at least that's how I justify it to myself!
My confession: I'm trying to embrace this awkward beer belly phase where I don't look pg just kinda fluffy...I put on the smallest bra I can still wear and a dress with a lower neckline, maybe the girls will distract from the belly. I may only be going to target but I feel hot today

This! I have gained since high school, but my weight has always been between 120-135 through my adult life so I've stayed between a size 2-4 for most things (I'm 5'7") I've always eaten what I want, but that's always stayed pretty balanced. My mom always cooked dinner and made sure I ate breakfast and packed my lunch (until HS when I packed my own) but I still had cookies and stuff. Part of that is that I love to bake though, so there's going to be sweets in the house! Just not ones with artificial flavors, colors, sugars, and preservatives. Woohoo real sugar!
Both me and the hubbs have pretty good metabolisms (although I can't get away with not working out like I did as a teenager), so I hope our child does too. Plus he is super active so I hope our child gets that as well, because I am NOT (although I wish I was)
My fffc: I don't have any desire to have my child play sports in school. I think it's great for them to play and be active with their friends, but I feel like schools put WAY too much emphasis on sports. I'd rather my child be home after school to do their homework and spend time with our family and their friends outside of school.
Plus, I'm a huge art and music nerd and if my kid is doing anything it would be band, art, or drama (if they like those things too). It makes me sad that those programs get cut first at most schools but they still spend money on sports and unnecessary supplies (2nd graders do not need their own iPad to bring home. Whatever happened to computer labs???)
@ohbaby714 girl you're missing out! I hated the look and the thought of full panel maternity pants, but they are THE BEST. I want all my maternity pants to cover my whole belly now lol. They're so comfy and smooth everything out.. I'm in love with pants.
Maybe it's just the ones I have? I have a pair of full panel old navy capris and I feel like I'm always pulling them up and they are so uncomfortable. Maybe they are too big in the belly yet but I wore them last time at 8 months pregnant and I felt the same way. I may need to give the full panel another chance in a different style!
I guess my confession would be that I love leggings as pants. I mean, I'm not going to walk around with a big old camel toe or anything but I like the way my butt looks in a pair of leggings. I like how comfortable they are. Once the weather gets cool I'm in skinny jeans or leggings and boots. I just got my leggings out for the year and I'm very excited lol. Hopefully I don't offend too many people with my legging clad self every year lol. But then, I'm feeling a little too good to care lol
I wear leggings all the time as pants. I have actually never thought of wearing them with a dress or another full outfit.
Like any outfit, (tight pants, short skirts, low jeans) leggings can look horrible, if not worn properly.
FFFC: I twisted my ankle on the weekend. I have been playing up the pain because it is my last week off before school starts and I do not want to clean the house. I want to wait until DH is home this weekend and share the chores.
@amandabobanda - that's actually a really good plan I will have to keep that in mind

This. I don't have much of a problem if things are covered, but they should stay covered, even when you bend over. Otherwise I just don't think it's appropriate. No one needs to see all of that!
My husband leaves for a year long deployment on Sunday. I don't feel sad I just feel anxious like I want it to be over with. Obviously I'll be sad without him here but the waiting game is just awful!
@Adyer7 I give you sooo much credit. I have no idea how you do it. My husband is leaving Wednesday for a 10 day hunting trip with his dad and I am freaking out. I now realize how petty I'm being. Thinking of you!
Yall are killing me with the food talk this morning.... My FFFC is that I will never allow my children to have a trophy for participation or a ribbon for 27th place in the science fair etc. I HATE that parents pad their children's feelings with treats, and trophies and ribbons and surprises I think it does nothing but turn children into entitled young adults.
First of all @DaisyTortilla you almost made my latte come out my nose with your penguin suit. That. Is. Awesome.
My FFC, since we're on pants, is that I have worn the same pair of pants every single day this week without washing them. They are the one pair of black maternity slacks that fits well right now and I just don't care.
I do lint roll them every morning in the parking lot of work with a roller I keep in my car because of my dogs.
Thanks @Achae and @ohbaby714. It's definitely not easy, but I have a great support network. I just feel bad that I'd honestly like him to just be gone already. The build up to it sucks! I adjust just fine but need the band aid ripped off so to speak.

When I was pregnant with DD I did that same thing. I didn't need maternity clothes until the 7th month and was being induced at 37 weeks so I couldn't justify buying more than one pair of maternity work pants. So I would go a week at a time without washing them. I sat at a desk all day, how dirty could they possibly get?!
@adyer7 in totally get it. The sooner they leave the sooner you can just get it over with. I was always like that before DH's deployments. Good luck. It totally sucks but homecomings are awesome
