Look back in this thread a few days about the multiple identical post rants (August 4ish??)
Ah i see, I was just confused since the topics went from Nickolodean and food to rants

  • Today I had my first "running through the halls of work trying to find a bathroom because of MS" experience. I used my one and only "I ate something bad last night" excuse, although I think some people have me figured out already :(
  • First off I DID NOT SAY I WAS LAZY! I was referring to new people not wanting to read through 100000000 posts about others raging hormones what they can or cannot eat today or other random topics. I didn't even know about a "search" section, so I'm sure they might not either. And Google, that's a horrible idea to tell a first time mom who is nervous about what's going on. Google makes everything seem worse than it actually might be. My point was, some people just want some reassurance, some peace of mind and you all posting how horrible it is to have to read their questions is pathetic. Here I thought this was a "welcoming" community, apparently it's not. My mistake.

Wow! If you didn't know there was a search function then you obviously don't know how to follow directionsseeing as how there is a sticky at the top of the board that is in all caps, "READ THIS FIRST" and includes a comment about cramping/bleeding/questions - "Yeah don't bother starting a new thread.. instead try the search function." Imagine you had a classroom of high school freshman at the beginning of the year, and about once an hour one of them raised their hand and asked, "What time is lunch?" Same question, over and over and over again, different student each time. And each time you told them 12:20 or you informed them it is in their new student handbook, BUT THEY KEEP ASKING, OVER AND OVER AND OVER. Would you be a little frustrated and irritated? This is a very welcoming community.
Or your 3-year old saying "mama" 3x a sentence and talking non-stop all day long (love him to death but there is a point where it makes you snap).  If you spend any time at all on this board, it was very clear that there were several of the same threads over and over and over.

  • That is awesome! But I'm totally gonna one up you, I got a letter in the mail from my insurance that all pregnancy and delivery costs are covered 100%. DH was in shock. He went to the ER twice last year, both ended up costing over $1500, I went in January and got an MRI, it only cost $100. I hate my job right, but damn do they provide awesome insurance. Actually, I love where I work but I'm pissed about scheduling and some personnel issues at the moment.
Yes, that TOTALLY one up'd me! That's AWESOME! Congratulations!
I basically love my job. I work from home in my PJs all day. I sit at a computer checking and responding to email.
    The benefits are great!
There's just one teeny tiny downside to working from home.... I WORK NON-STOP!
Literally, I'm at this PC from breakfast to bedtime.
I recently had a total meltdown that put thoughts in my head about working at McDonalds or becoming a truck driver. Seriously, I would do anything not to have that kind of stress hanging over me all the time. (I mean no offense to those working at McDonalds or driving trucks.....seriously, I was considering both of those jobs!)
But I had a discussion with my boss and she gently told me I was doing it to myself. I need to make time for myself.
    I'm slowly getting better...
I no longer take my phone to the bathtub with me.
I no longer check emails past 7pm....if I can help myself.
Now, I watch a TV show or two before bed. Helps clear my mind.

So I love my job again! Mostly.

  • @jstanton0822 I totally want your job! I'd love an at home job, DH and I are seriously considering me staying at home the first few years, it's definitely going to take some financial wrangling. I'd love to at least be able to contribute some.

It's funny because it didn't start out a work from home gig. Actually, quite the opposite...
9 years ago when I took the job, I was driving 65 miles 1-way to get to work every morning.
There were about 50 people in the office during that time.
Over the past 9 years, so much has changed in the company that I found myself the only person left at that office....which they decided to close since no one worked there but me.
So I've worked from home for about 3 years now.

  • I had leftover Olive Garden for breakfast.  DH is out of town and I feel no regrets.

  • Kraft Macaroni and Cheese in the blue box was the only thing that I could stomach for lunch today.  When I usually make it I use the "light prep" recipe which only calls for 2tsp of  butter.  However, today, I thought why not? And used the "classic prep" instructions which calls for WHOLE 4 tablespoons of margarine (well actually I used butter because it's what I had on hand) and it was glorious!! I may never go back to the reasonable way of making mac and cheese ever again.  LIFE. CHANGING.

At our monthly dinner the other day, he didn't even offer me a drink.
He offered it to literally every person except me.
There was even some left over and he sent jars home with several people and never offered any to me.
    Very strange...

RE the circumcise thread: I really wanted to state my opinion on that topic but decided against it. It seems like most people on this board treat everything like a dear diary and don't like debates. I'm not here to debate everything but I like to state my opinion and it would be nice to have a great discussion w/o people getting all butt hurt. Maybe that's why I like this random thread. We are having conversations and not dear diarying it.
    Let's hear it.

  • I used to be all for it because that is all I knew and it's common in the U.S. I recently read a very informational article on the topic of circumcision that completely changed my mind (and DHs). In a nutshell, you're mutilating your sons genitals for a cosmetic reason. It's not more hygienic and it's actually becoming more and more uncommon to circumcise and it will eventually become the norm to have an intact penis. So the whole point some people make that it'll look like everyone else's will be invalid.

I get that it's not a fair assumption that all men need to be circumcised in order to practice good hygiene, but there are definitely some cases where the kid's physiology for whatever reason won't allow him to pull back the foreskin on his own (my nephew for example).  Circumcision at a later date is so traumatic, so do you gamble on having a properly working foreskin or putting you child through the much more excruciating pain later on?  I admit I have no clue what percentage of men medically need to have their foreskins altered to pull it back.  I grew up outside the states where pretty much no one is circumcised so clearly it's not a huge issue, but it's also not one that is publicly discussed so maybe it it???
for the record, we circumcised my son and we have had issues  so I'm not advocating it either.  I'm really torn.

I guess I really have no opinion either way. I am probably not informed enough regarding the topic but what you say makes since. I was just going to let DH choose because he is the one with a penis. Maybe I will have him look into it more, but since he is circumcised I have a feeling that is what he is going to want to stick with.

    It looks much like this.

  • Oh also there was a GTKY a while ago asking about circumcision, ear piercing, and baptism and some were being so hypocritical. I wanted to call people out so bad!! I had to stop myself. People were like yes to circumcision and "if/when they ask to get their ears pierced or to get baptized then we'll do it." Why not the same for circumcision?

Okay I'll be honest DH isn't circumcised his is also the first penis I saw that wasn't, and when I found out I Google how to please a man who was uncircumcised because I was concerned about it, but it is absolutely fine, and I have a baby in my belly so obviously it worked.  Yes I admit I was freaked out at first, but I got over it, just because it isn't the norm here doesn't mean it isn't normal.

I 100% agree with this, although we don't share the same opinion. Future daughter will have ears pierced as a bebe and future son will be circumcised per DH's wishes.

But I totes got a chuckle out of the people wanting to give girls an opinion on whether or not to do something as mild as ear piercing which taking that major choice away from a son. Seemed odd to me.
