It took me 3 hours to get LO down last night, while DH was acting like an annoyed brat and insinuating something was wrong with LO because of it, and then LO was up every hour to feed, and breathing all c crazy and grunting and now I'm up getting ready to go get his weight checked at the doctor, bawling, while DH sleeps. Nighttime blows.

Does your LO arch their back, too? That sounds like my LO and I just found out today at the ped those are signs of reflux, even if they don't spit up. We have a prescription for Zantac if we want to try it. It might be worth asking about!
  • @hoodoll82 nothing better than that!

@dancegurl1118 woo! Glad to hear your LO is feeling better!
  • LO was totally off yesterday and didn't get a nap longer than 1 hour. She was impossible to get to sleep and is already up. It has already been a long night and we're just getting started.
  • I always think new life circumstances will create a new me, but I'm over here being the same old me, just with a baby. I have always been a night owl, and suffered for my penchant for 3:00 am in the 9-5 world...

I keep thinking I should go to bed at 8:30-9:00 when LO does, because a) I'm legit tired enough to, and b) then I'd get that 4-5 hour stretch of sleep y'all are talking about. But instead, I drag my ass to bed at midnight, only to have to wake up again at 1:30 to feed the baby. I do myself no favors.

    Alas.

On the other hand, it's pretty comforting to still see Old Me in there. Even Stupid Old Me. Maybe Fun, Drinking, Dancing Old Me can make a cameo one day again, too.

I'm a night owl too and have been struggling with the same problem. I actually think I have a shifted sleep schedule, but anyway... I've been putting LO to bed at 11:30 so she won't wake up until 3:30. I don't know if that's the best idea, and we'll have to change it eventually, but it's working out well for now.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • LO spent most of the day screaming while awake today (or should I say yesterday). I really hope to god today is better. There was a point at work last night that I honestly didn't even want to come home. Ugh
  • Ugh, if it wasn't the terrible thunderstorm that woke the baby it was the stupid freakin loud ass phone alert about flash floods. Alright, little man. Back on the boob you go....

  • DH is sleeping with us since it's the weekend which means I should get more sleep right? Instead we are all off schedule and I'm getting less.
  • DD refuses to sleep more than an hour at a time in her bassinet tonight. We want to transition to the crib soon, so I don't want to start a whole thing where she gets used to sleeping with me at night, even though I know she'd sleep for longer. During the day, if I leave her on me she'll nap for 2-3 hours, but if I put her in the boppy lounger or bassinet, she's up in 20 minutes. I'm so tired. If you get a 4 hour stretch ladies, enjoy it. I had one of those for the first 3 weeks and haven't seen it since.
  • I seriously hate 4:30. And I hate it even more when LO makes enough noise to wake up DS. Then I have to wake up DH to deal with the toddler and the whole house is awake. Argh.

DH and I had a conversation that was basically "It gets better, right? This doesn't last?"
  • Last night my girls fell asleep on their sides, which doesn't worry me because of their neck control and they can roll from belly to back, but we slept through THE ENTIRE NIGHT. I'm talking 10-6 for one twin and 11-630 for the other. However, they managed to roll onto their bellies at some point. I don't know when or how but they seemed to have slept beautifully. I'll ask pedi on Tuesday (shots day :() but any advice? Since they're 9 weeks and rolling and can turn head side to side while on belly should I be scared that this happened or let it be?
  • Well it was another sleepless night in my house went to pedi yesterday and found out baby does have bad case of thrush so I think that is why she hasn't been eating and therefore sleeping well ...
  • I hate the 3-4:00 hour as well. Mine was confused last night and now and think it's time to play with wake time. No kid.
  • We had a super super fussy LO yesterday and she didn't get to sleep until 10. BUT she slept until 2 then until 7. So she better be a dang peach today or I'll go crazy
  • I went and filled the Zantac script today. Hopefully it helps. I don't know how many more nights upright I can take.

Let us know how it goes! I am convinced we might need this for LO.
  • Just doing the 4am feed now. Started with LO in his bassinet must of had wind, now in our bed. It's amazing how 4 straight hours sleep makes you feel like a million bucks.

I'm beyond Po at SO, he uses every excuse he can to sleep in the spare room! Then turns around and tells me to have a nap during the day, maybe if he helped with the house work I would (it doesn't do it itself)
  • Cluster feeding before bed time sucks.
  • Okay, so our child does not want to nap/fall asleep anymore. She doesn't want to miss anything it seems. Feeding her now then hoping she goes down for bedtime.

Anyone have a recommendation for LOs that want to stay awake? Every time she ate last night (12am, 4am) she was ready to party after feeding.

I have no answer but that was my day today. It resulted in lots of tears on my end because I was just. So. Tired. DH is at a bachelor party and thank GOD my MIL was nice enough to drive 2.5 hours to help me through it. I'm trying to put it into perspective because it means our LOs are growing and becoming inquisitive but it's tough at certain hours. Just gotta keep reminding myself it's a positive thing!
  • I'm never going to sleep again. I hate nighttime.
  • Night 1 on Zantac has been terrible. It started with copious amounts of spit up, so who knows how much actually was absorbed. I'm so tired, I didn't change the sheets, I just put a towel over the wet spot on the bed. And at the rate we're going, I will be up one more time this morning before we're actually up for the day. This is why I don't like newborns. I wish they came out at the 9 month development stage. I just want to sleep for more than an hour and a half at a time.
  • I am having a night from hell as well. What is sleep?
  • I've said this before, but baby hiccups are the worst! I get done the nighttime feeding, have the girls asleep, and thennnn the hiccups start. My girls HATE the hiccups, so many loud grunts that are impossible for me to sleep through

Our baby gets them all the time! We use gripe water. They stop immediately and she calms down right away too. Definitely a life saver
  • For the past week, the only place LO will sleep for more than 45-60 minutes at a time, day or night, is on top of me. Until now, she was totally happy in the bassinet for up to 5-6 hours at a time. Any ideas on how I can get her back in the bassinet or crib for a reasonable amount of time, at least at night? She is 4 weeks today.

I did notice last night that her feedings were short...I think maybe she's just snacking, so it doesn't last long. I can't really force feed her so I have no idea what to do about that. But I have to be able to sleep more than 4 hours in one hour stretches on a daily basis. I'm about to lose it.

LO was up again at 4 but didn't want to really eat, just fuss. So I pumped a bottle and left it with LO and DH in our room and I went and slept on the floor of the nursery. I could still hear her from the couches so that was the best place. Sadly, almost 2 hours of sleep on a concrete floor without hearing LO was the best sleep I can remember.

ETA I just got a serious dose of mom guilt. I got up to feed LO and stripped her down for skin to skin. She ate and the promptly fell asleep. She's now sleeping on my chest. She feels bad and just wants me and I can't stand to be in the same room with her at night. :( Lots of mommy cuddles today and then I'll feel guilty for not spending enough time with DS.

This is me too right now. Feeding every two hours last night, so only sleeping in roughly one hour chunks. Part of me wants to die this morning.
  • @delujm0 @aresee I'm there with you. I can barely drag myself out of bed. I wish I had something encouraging to say.
