I'm being a terrible mom today. I think we're on our fifth episode of Sesame Street and everyone is still in pajamas. And dinner is frozen pizza.

this actually sounds like an awesome day.
  • I feel like an asshole today. I was an asshole on the UO page. After my grandfather has been in the hospital since Monday he's coming home on hospice and has less than a month to live. I'm so mad and bitter because I'm not ready. He has had congestive heart failure for 13 years and had a 5 bypass 13 years ago and wasn't expected to make it ten. He's on borrowed time now but I don't want to say goodbye. Please if you get a minute say a prayer for him.
  • @THD7580‌ I'm sorry. Said a prayer and I'll keep you and him in my thoughts.

  • Thank you everyone. I had prayed he would be here to see me get married and for the birth of my first child and he was here for both. Even with him being sick he stayed at that hospital until 1 in the morning until that baby came. I just wish DS would have more time with him that's all. Thank you all for your kind words I appreciate it more than you know!
  • My DH handed over DD to me this morning and she started crying real tears, reaching for him, and even said 'dada'.   Broke my heart.  I think maybe she knew he was going to get her bottle.  But now I'm afraid that I'll always be the strict parent and DH will always be the fun one.   It really made me want to cry.
  • @bunannie - what online survey do you do?

We were supposed to have our first lesson last Monday but DS is sick and had to miss it. I'm hoping he's well enough to make next weeks, glad you had fun!

I want to sign DS up for swimming lessons, but I don't want to have to shave my legs...
I seriously don't know what I'm going to wear. I feel okay wearing a bikini and I guess I'll shave, but I swear my right boob is twice as large as my left boob and I don't know what kind of top will cover that...so...cool.

You can have my left boob, it's my huge one. Then we'd both be even.
I'm glad I'm not the only one with two sizes!  My left will pump out 1-2 oz and my right 3-4+ in one session... you can definitely tell the difference in size.
Seriously, my left boob is definitely bigger than the right. And LO gets mad that the right boob doesn't have as much for her, so she if she's tired and cranky, she'll refuse the right one. Not exactly helping the problem, even though I try to hand express if she really refuses.

Every time! Left boobie refused to produce more than 2 oz in a pump session and right could go to 6 oz some days. I really am hoping that once DD is weaned they go back to about the same size. I have a significant difference.

@becole42 - I told you we were besties. Only besties would give their bigger boob away.

@Jcrewgirl85‌ just be really organized because it's crazy after trying to get changed. A tip from my friend- don't put the pull up swimmer on until it's time, it's only there to catch the poop.... Lol the more you know! I had no idea and h peed on me while we were waiting to get in the pool. He loved all the splashing and was cool with being dunked.

I made this same mistake with the swim diaper. Pee all over me...
DD loved swim lessons! How did you DS do with the dunk? The first time we did it she cried for 2 seconds but then it didn't phase her at all.
  • Ok.... Someone explain to me how swim diapers work?

They're not designed to hold liquid, such that they don't absorb pool water. Pee goes right through them. Their only purpose is to prevent poop from getting in the pool (that would require draining the pool). You can get disposable swim diapers or non disposable, which is basically a swim suit bottom with some extra lining and tight elastic all around.

ETA to make things even more confusing some brands call their swim suit bottoms "swim diapers" even though they are just normal bikini bottoms that would not hold any poop at all.

So the baby just pees in the pool?! My inner germophobic is shuttering...  :-O

Yes they pee in the pool. Doesn't every kid under 10 do it too? I still pee in the ocean.

Haha. I just tell myself that the chlorine kills all the germs

@Chevygrrl91‌ The lessons that we take are really for the baby to get use to the water. I can swim but feel more comfortable in a controlled environment to practice with baby first. It is a fun activity even if you don't want to take lessons.

Agree. It's really about getting them comfortable in the water. And they lead fun songs activities. I wouldn't have know how to dunk her on my own either. Have you all seen the infant survival swim lessons though?! That sh*t is crazy! I would definitely be doing it if I had a pool in my back yard though. I'll see if I can post a link.
  • @Chevygrrl91‌ we decided not to baby swim lessons. We go to the toddler pool and the lake all the time in the summer so we feel like the kids get enough water exposure that way. We'll enroll them in swim lesson sometime around 4-5years old. I can't imaging teaching them to swim myself though, I'd rather leave it to the pros to make sure they learn proper technique and safety.

  • DS woke up at 630 and I was going to try to sleep until 7 and let him play in his crib. He used to hang out and talk to himself for like 30-45 min. Now he just sits and yells until I get up. So much for sleeping in anymore..

Last night one of the second graders at my school was killed in an accident at soccer practice (we don't know any specifics yet). I saw the email from my principal when I was up feeding DD and I barely slept after that. I can't stop crying. How does a parent even begin to deal with that?? It is so incredibly unfair. This will certainly be one of my worst days of work yet. :(

I can't imagine! So sorry!! Thoughts and prayers headed that way!

  • So stupid, but I hate when dh drives my car. Normally I can get between 22 to 24 mpg (it's a v8, so I'm happy with this) but if he drives it creeps into the 17 to 20 mpg range. Wtf. Then he changes my music, turns the air on cold so it's blasting my face and not my feet, moves my seat all the way back (so I have to stretch to reach the pedals and I'm not short), and changes the Bluetooth connections.

Yes I make it a game to get the most mileage out of a tank and I accelerate like an old woman, but don't mess with my flow. It's so damn hard getting my gas mileage back up after he's brought it down.

Worse part: he doesn't always let me take his car because maintenance or someone will hit his car or is hard to drive or something.

  • Every weekend DH and I switch off days who sleeps in and the other gets up with DS. Yesterday I let him sleep in until 10. This morning he said baby the baby's up. I say yeah so you better get up huh it's your turn. He says you are already up just get up. I almost bludgeoned him to death. Nope get your ass up before you lose and eye punk. Seriously are they Just that stupid sometimes! Ugh!
  • Last night DS bit my nipple and drew blood. The pain! I cried a little bit. I hope he quickly learns that is a no-no...I don't know how many more of those I can take!

UGH, DH does this to me every week. Drives me nuts. Then he's a grumpass the rest of the day if I slept in. He's started leaving the bedroom door open (and the bedroom is directly off the living room). I actually yelled at him the other day when he did it and he goes, "sorry, I thought I closed it." :-w
Oh man are they related! Our house is the same way and he does this when he gets up too! It's a way of just being an ass!

Not stupid, just aholes. I seriously think they think they can get away with it, because there's no way all our husbands are that dang stupid, is there?
Yeah I always love the "you're the mom" thing I know they are thinking. No dude this is an equal partnership in parenting. Reality check! They funny thing is he's usually awesome about it. Sometimes he PMS' and I want to punch him.
  • @THD7580‌ - That's exactly what they're thinking. I had a serious talk with DH about him pulling his weight with the morning routine, and he's been good about it so far. I let him sleep in today because he took the last two morning shifts. But even so, I still wake up and have to basically push DH outta bed because he's dead when he sleeps. I could be murdered right next to him and he wouldn't notice.

Totally this! DH is dead to the world too when he sleeps. Must be nice.
  • Eek @merrylove!   That sounds bad.  I've been nipped a few times, but never hard enough to bleed.   Hopefully it is a one time thing.
