  • OK Aerie fans, after reading about them so much here I need to try them...and it's too damn expensive to replace my hanky pankys!. Do I go for mini cheekies or the regular thongs?  I can't see a back picture of the mini cheekies so I'm not sure what coverage is back there...

  • I keep having dreams about being pregnant or playing capture the flag, but it ends up not being a game and I am on the run.

    What do those mean S12?

I want all the holiday treats right now.  And my niece brought home her girl scout cookie order form yesterday.....  I am going to be a an even bigger whale after the holidays!
I thought GS cookies didn't go on sale until spring!

  • @melody921 I bet there is more to the story - my dad has chronic problems with an anal fissure from a botched colonoscopy and it really affects his life.  She may be in extreme ass pain and in need of a surgery - who knows - she might be bleeding through pads or diapers or have open sores.

Her time off doesn't seem that strange to me.  We technically close Christmas Day and re-open Jan 5.  So if her business is the same, it's really like she's going to be out Thurs and Fri of this week, and Monday and Tuesday of next week assuming they take Christmas Eve off, too (many companies do).  It sounds like a lot of her Holiday is going to be spent sitting on a donut pillow.

I say this from the perspective of someone who is sick the week before holiday... I don't want any major projects until after Christmas.  I just want to address urgent stuff and hit things hard when I'm feeling better.
Because you're not feeling well, I am going to forgive you for that utterly disgusting imagery.  :-&

If she's truly sick, fine. I hope she feels better. If she just wants the time off, she could take it. She owns her own business. Just say you're closed until the new year!

  • Shitty cookies came walking around with his giant tray of cookies for our pot luck.  I ate a spritz and said "Wow, those are good!" because seriously, they were.  He then says "Oh, my wife made those, try one of these ones that I made--you'll love them..."

    Spoiler alert--I didn't.

I thought of you and shitty cookies earlier today! It's our potluck at work today too. Someone made a tray of cookies that included ones that were burnt! WTF people.

  • @pharmer78 Haha, yes I very much understand it's not about slapping a sticker on a bottle/box.  But for this situation..... the tech had the label in his hand (it had been called in 2 hours prior), already cleared through ins, and he told me 10 minutes tops.  He honestly needed to slap the sticker on the z-pack and have the pharmacist check it, OR, not tell me 10 minutes, OR communicate any problems/delays to me.

Nobody at drive thru, no line, and only one waiting for a script with me.  I arrived at 1040, left at 1120.  Came back through the drive thru at 1140 and they still hadn't filled it, I asked if there was an issue, they said no it just hadn't been filled.

Bless his heart... I watched the pharmacist for the 40 minutes I sat there, and I think the retail pharm environment is too much for him.  He was s o ..... s  l   o    w.

Today my SIL finds out if she's having a boy or a girl! (The one we're super excited for, not worried about.) They have 2 boys And REALLY want a girl. There is a small possibility they'll tell everyone but me today. At other BILs wedding this BIL told me I didn't get to know until he got back the combined 18 months of his life he spent not knowing about my girls. Rude.
Wait, why did your BIL not know about your daughters?

I feel kind of guilty for perpetuating the sticker idea, but I find myself not caring so much since I am out of that line of work haha.  So I retract my claws as well :D

It was really frustrating when I was there, because that's what people think you do, and they treat the pharmacists like shit.  They don't realize that in 20 minutes you cleared up their insurance issue to save them money, counted and double counted their pills (maybe cut them in half or made a compound), and the pharmacist noticed a drug interaction that would have been bad news bears because you see 10 different doctors and they were not made aware of all of your medications (or they suck), bla bla bla.  I understand why you got defensive.  People (mostly younger generations?) think of retail pharmacists as sticker appliers, when they are the ones keeping your doctors from killing you.  :D

So I just got back from the ER with Bennett. My mom calls work frantic and he's crying hysterically in the background. She's sure he fractured or broke his wrist from playing and falling off the couch (no cushions on it.) We get right in and the Dr. looks concerned so we're wheeled to x-ray. He cries like crazy for me. My mom was with him because of the risk of me being about 3 minutes pregnant. Broke my heart. They needed to retake one more x-ray and then after it's over he starts moving his arm like crazy that he wasn't even twitcing before because it hurt so bad.

No breaks! It's a miracle but the xray tech heard a "pop" when she was adjusting his arm. The Dr. called it "Nursemaid's Elbow" with relief on his face. He's doing completely fine now all happy because he got a frosty from Wendy's.

    Kids man.

Oh my gosh, I would be in such a panic.  Glad he's ok.

I'll admit that I get frustrated with the pharmacists at our local grocery store a lot.  I have family history of penicillin allergy and therefore it is in my charts not to give it to me, because the family allergies are severe.  The docs prescribe me z-packs when I get sick and apparently those have some of the same ingredients or something.  I have never had a problem.  We talked with them about it the last three times I was in there and they always wait to fill it, until I come in and ask for it.  Seriously, when I am sick as a dog, I don't want to wait and have to tell you the same thing over and over again that we have gone over eight billions times!  (Was that enough exaggeration for you?)

I also get frustrated with them, because they just won't fill some of DH's meds because they don't have them or don't have enough of them.  It gets frustrating because they don't call and tell us that, they wait until we are there to get them.  And for real, some of his meds keep his ass alive so you best be giving me what you have!

Apparently my claws are out now too......  Retracting, retracting retracting.

  • My mom was a wreck because it happened while he was with her and I'm the one trying to calm both of them down. How does that happen?

@Pokedot.  What a rough morning!  i am glad he is ok and that he wont have to get a cast (it is a pain in the butt!).  Our friends daughter who is three months younger than our little ones had to get her leg casted (foot up to her thigh) about three weeks ago - poor little thing.  She was just walking and bumped into her mom - and somehow got a spiral fracture.  She is hobbling around now.

Where do you all shop for nice work clothing for men? DH needs some nicer clothes for his new job and I've been getting him the same stuff for so long I don't know where to start.

You mean business casual or suits?

    Kohls, Macy's JC Penney

Both I think, he has lived in the 'engineer uniform' (khakis with a polo/button down/ sweater) for like 7 years I know nothing about men's fashion.
DH is tall and broad shouldered so when he buys a suit he needs someone that actually knows what they are talking about. The majority of his suits are now from Brooks Brothers. He did the Macys suit thing for a few years, but they never fit perfectly, even after tailoring, and they are legit the only thing he wears 5 days a week so money well spent.

The engineer uniform sounds like a typical business casual environment. Pick out a couple fun ties to pair with his button ups and a couple pair of slacks instead of just kakis. Macy's will do tailoring there and it is not terribly expensive. Jos A Banks always has a sale going on if you are looking to buy in bulk (buy 2 shirts get 2 free, etc.); they also have tailoring onsite.
We do a lot of Jos A Banks, esp around the holidays when they have a million promos.
