LO is on the move. Lord help me. She went from scooting here and there to moving with definite purpose AND speed. We have a double sized doorway from our kitchen to the living room. I ordered a gate that should fit and it will be here Wednesday. Glad the big are home to help contain her. Oye.
Yippee! It's been a big week here too. LO figured out how to move forward instead of only backwards at the end of the week and today she finally figured how to fully sit herself up from her belly! Woo hoo. I don't know wether to cheer or cry.
DH got a $300 refund check from his credit card today and cloth diaper black friday deals are being announced today. I totally need more diapers right?
@mamrotu73 - My husband keeps plotting to build a train table, too. But I don't think his crafty skills are up to yours, so I'm trying to convince him we should just buy one. :P
I left off the bottom shelf since we used to sit at it sometimes when it was our coffee table. I think I'll add bins underneath when I convert it. I'll also felt the inside and maybe change out the top trim (because the movers broke one piece off).

Where?
Dirty Diaper Laundry has a really good list of them on her site. Grovia also just sent me their deals which I'm very excited for, they are doing buy 2 get 1 free on a lot of their stuff.
My 2 year old is terrified of the talk back part of the minitor. If I tell him to go to bed, he freezes and falls asleep exactly how he is at the moment. He also points at the monitor all the time and says "get me". He thinks the monitor is going to get him
Happy news - Evan's hips are healthy . Jerky Orthopedist convinced me to do the x-ray today after telling me that he had a 20% chance of displasia, given his torticollis, and apparently some of the hardest hips to assess he'd ever seen. That would have all been great to tell me the first time I came in, instead of saying that everything looked great and then sending in the assistant to tell me that he needed an x-ray. He was pretty offended I didn't do the x-ray "just because" he said so. Heaven forbid I wanted a good reason for it, which he should have given from the get go.
Thankfully, mommy instinct was right, and the hips are fine, so we get to be done with Dr. Jerk. And we have some pretty cool x-rays of his perfect hips to boot.

Finally got my buddy's whole gift in the mail I can't wait to send it out! Hopefully Wednesday if not it'll definitely be Friday since I don't work! I can't wait til she gets it :x
I love days off. Went to the new addition to our outlet and we got a Janie and Jack! Sooo much money to be spent @dani+california it's so worth the trip the outlet in the falls is so much better now! Chase was not impressed with the outlet. I got the call today that his surgery was rescheduled for the Thursday after thanksgiving. At least it'll be over before Christmas! Hope everyone had a good Monday!
Why are old people incapable of deciphering lyrics to songs as time goes by? Why do they call things by names that are CLOSE to the actual name but still wrong?
My mom sings every song as a jumble. 'All about the bass' is more like 'Babbalabba do, baba do, no bubble'. After listening to her call Swiffer 'Swifter' and Carter's 'Hosh Kosh', I think I need to start keeping a journal of her special words. It's hilarious!
Both my parents do this. English is not our first language, so it's funny the way they say some english words. For example, instead of stainless steel, it's Stanley steel. I can't think of any others but we always laugh when they come up with new ways to say things.
I posted this in its own thread, but I know that not every RTTer reads other threads. I ran across this video and it is too funny not to share (especially if you have toddlers)!
A teenage bagger at the grocery store flirted with me earlier. He knows I have a kid because he's bagged for me several times when the baby's been with me. Does that make me a MILF?
Chase has a raised rash on both cheeks. Took him to the dr (my best friend from high schools mom- so I just stopped by her house) last week and she said absolutely just teething rash. They are ugly but don't hurt. Our poor babies they go through so much! @Vinny424 last week we got 4 ft of snow in buffalo today it's 60 with flooding everywhere. So happy I live just outside of it but the weather is crazy right now!
So the doc says it's eczema. I'm not convinced, because it's now turned into an all over rash that's raised and not very dry. Ugh, we'll just stop doing a bath every night and slather on the lotion, and see if it gets better.
Can teething cause an all-over rash? The doc said he's days away from getting a tooth...sort of happy and sort of terrified.
We've started slathering LO in aquaphor before PJs to see if it helps.
@MrsStanton87 my LO also has a random all-over rash. Kinda patchy and prickly. I thought eczema but the doc said no, just typical Colorado dry skin. It doesn't bug him so I leave it alone. Fwiw she said oils can be the best thing for skin, just be careful about what clothing you put on over it.
And whoever asked about teething and diarrhea, yep. Extra drool from teething can cause diarrhea.

Add Evan to the random rashy crowd. @Teresa1896 it sounds like your guy's - prickly and all over (though no real color to his, just little rough bumps). I'm thinking just dry skin since it's crazy dry here. Darn dryness is also making diaper rash and teething rash much more intense. Feel like I can't keep up!

@OliveOyl2014 What is you and your family's first language?
My MIL says so many things wrong that annoy me! "guacamola" for one. In Spanish, a double L makes a "y" sound (so, "yuh"), so when she says "quesadilla" or "sopapilla," she just says it with an L sound! Drives me bonkers! She loves talking about sad, horrible things that happen on the news (which is a whole other issue), so if I rhetorically ask, "Why would someone do that??" she says, "Because they're purity evil!" You CANNOT use purity that way. Not an adjective.

My bird is seasoned bitches!!! I also just whipped up some cranberry almond crunch cookie dough for thanksgiving. Looks like it'll be a late bedtime for the rest of the week for this momma.
Is it weird that I felt sorry for the naked headless turkey when I was unwrapping it? I've handled plenty of raw meat and poultry but there's something about a turkey that always makes me feel guilty. The size of the bird perhaps?
@edoliesmom My family is from Croatia and my husband is from Bosnia. I just remembered something my FIL said. We told him that we were expecting and he was so excited. He said he wanted to buy a "seatbelt" for the baby. He meant car seat

Very cool! Do Croatia and Bosnia have their own language?
I have a Ukrainian friend who's been here for about 15 years, and new people that meet him can't tell he has an accent even though it's totally still there. His English is just as good as any well-educated American, but he has slip-ups every now and then. On Facebook the other day he was trying to use the expression "my hands are tied," but instead he said, "my hands are tight." lol

The languages are almost identical except for a few words here and there. My husband has been here for about 15 years and he has a heavy accent. I was only 3 when we moved here and I have no accent at all. I think the younger you are, the less likely the accent will stick. My husband is the same with lots of the phrases used here. He never says the right word. Have you ever seen the videos on YouTube of a guy named DJ Flula (not sure on spelling)? He makes these videos where he talks about some American idioms and how he doesn't understand them. They are hilarious!
I haven't heard of him or the videos, but I'll go check them out now. Sounds like it could be entertaining! I agree about the younger you are, the less likely the accent will stay. He was 11 I think when he came, so it's there but not super thick. I can especially notice it when he says "work" or "world" because the "wor" sounds more like the word war.

The one about the party pooper is especially funny!

I just watched "chip on a shoulder? I just snack you." ) Where is he from?! I can't tell at all.

I want to say he is from Germany. I think I remember reading that a long time ago.
@chichi589 we are in the same boat! I'm East of you and we got a ton of snow during that storm too. You can't even tell now with all the rain and the 66 degree weather.
Back , and skipping a bunch of posts. We were able to successfully retrieve DH's special childhood toys (though MIL almost pitched a fit about him taking his teddy bear @-) ), and DS got to meet his great grandma finally! Now we're home and it's my favorite week of the year! Time to get cooking!
