Re: Longest Thread EVER! (aka Random Thoughts Thread )

  • Okay, so if I were to offer to PM my compiled list of A14 mamas with Bump names, real names, and kid(s) names to Bumpies here who wanted it in order to stop confusing people (presuming I have everyone correct... *cough*), is there anyone who WOULDN'T want to be on it?

@AprilMay9‌, I know you're one but I don't know who you are IRL anyway. XD

If you know who I am don't share.

I'd be impressed if you'd figured it out...don't think I've shared.

  • Thanks ladies! You guys rock. DH ended up sleeping on the couch for the first time in our relationship. The baby wouldn't sleep in a sleep sack, so I caved and put him back in his MM suit so I could sleep. Idk how were going to do this transition!

@celticlullaby‌ DS has an appt with a dermatologist next week and he already goes to an allergist. We go at 9 months to get him a full work up of what he's allergic to. Hoping the dermatologist can control the eczema while we determine what the allergy is, or if there even is an allergy (other than a MSPI). I feel like a terrible mother because I can't fix this.

  • I don't understand why everyone is opposed to @SoulTermination‌'s list?? Many of us participated in the A14 spreadsheet when it was made those many months ago, and it included your real name if you wanted it to be on there and also names for if you were having a boy or girl. It might've also been updated once our babes were born. We've also shared birth stories, including our babies' names, and a lot of us have shared our own names on here just throughout our time talking with each other. This would just be a list of all that info in one place in order to keep track of who's who and whose baby is whose. It's not like any new info that had been kept private is now being revealed.

  • I never posted a birth story/announcement or participated in the spreadsheet. I haven't shared any personal information on here so I doubt I'm on that list. However, it still seems invasive to post information about other people. Thats the only issue I see @edoliesmom‌. If they wanted that information public they would make it so. Or add you on FB.

Yeah, good call on not sharing :)

  • I only have two A14'ers on my FB but my "people you may know" section is filled with y'all! I feel like a creep if I add anyone.
  • I have no A14 on Facebook because I didn't feel cool enough to add anyone. I wouldn't want my name on a list though.

    Petsmart ides is awesome!

G finally got his 6 month shots today and we got a referral for both boys to see a genecist. Hoping we can get them in reasonably soon.
  • went to dinner last night, sat outside  and enjoyed our evening. got home and i have 38 mosquito bites on my ass and thighs. WTF?? the baby didnt get bit and DH only got bit once.
  • I just Googled things to do with a baby because ZOMG BOREDOM. One of the suggestions was taking them to a pet store so they could see the animals and fish...genius! We have a Petsmart within walking distance. Totally bringing the dog too. It's like a free, really shitty zoo! Bahaha yay

I do this with my kids, they love it!

  • I don't see how it's invasive if we've shared it publicly on TB, but I can respect the fact that others feel that way. I can see though how it would be invasive to send it out, but not simply by being on it... not that anyone has any control over that anyway.

I just think it would be useful knowing who has a son or daughter and names of babies because I feel like a jerk when someone talks about their "LO" without the respective pronoun, and I'm like, "Uhhh.. I hope your baby feels better soon!" because I can't remember if they have a boy or girl, let alone their name! X_X

  • I just found out I need to have my gallbladder removed. And I think my baby is broken. He didn't want to sleep the last 2 nights and is now up earlier than normal. Is it bedtime yet?

  • I don't mind that you found me @aronie82‌. It's probably super easy with the whole mutual friend thing. Hopefully my profile is pretty locked down. I feel like TB is not private and any Joe Schmo can have access to our info here, which is why I divulge very little personal stuff.
  • I share everything and if you can't figure out who I am on facebook or IG you are insane. I don't think its weird to add me on FB and I like when people do. But there are some mysteries, and sometimes I have to make a guess who a couple of people are. I'd add more if I knew who was who or whether or not they even like me (or if they go here anymore or have GBCB!)-Honestly though, we share enough about ourselves that any lurker can figure out how to find out who we are when we share our birthdays and cities we live in, what our name or bump names mean. I don't mean I want a list on here but if you want to know more about me just add me somewhere privately or pm me. And tell me who the hell you are! I hate guessing!

Whenever A naps longer than normal, I don't know what to do. I have things I could do, but I don't start them because I am sure he will wake up any min. Then he keeps sleeping and I think about how I wasted my opportunity.

I am doing this right now.
My new solution to this is to use the first guaranteed 20 minutes to do whatever I absolutely have to get done, and to just go upstairs and nap along with him for however long he is going to continue to nap. I could be wrong, but I think he naps longer this way since I'm not making any noise!
  • Tell me if what I did was wrong. I'm transitioning DS from the MM suit to a sleep sack. Last night was terrible, he was just rolling around in the crib. Today for his naps I put him down on his stomach. There wasn't any crying, just gave him the pacifier and he fell asleep both times. The first nap was an hr long and I thought it was a fluke. He is still taking his second nap which is going on 3 hrs. I have a video monitor so I know he's breathing and he's moved a few times, but did I break my baby?? He hasn't slept this long during the day since he was a newborn. He can roll both ways, so I didn't see a problem putting him down on his stomach to begin with. I'm just hormonal and crazy I think.

  • My LO sleeps on her stomach most of the time. I don't put her that way but as soon as I put her down she rolls over. As soon as she started doing this I notices that she sleeps much better on her tummy. I wouldn't worry about it at this age - sit back and enjoy!!
  • @Tferr02‌ couldn't you set up a kiosk in the PX in the mean time? It'll help build your clientele until you have a store front.
  • I want my baby to sleep with her butt up in the air! But I guess I need to transition her to the PNP first.

  • @SarahL2P we've already raised ours twice.

For those of you have bough a mattress for the pack and play (@mamrotu73), did you get the foam one or one with coils? I can't decide which one to get. I was thinking the one with coils since it'll closely resemble his crib mattress and hopefully help him sleep better.
  • I want more Facebook friends!! Even though I'm not one of the cool kids.
  • I can honestly say I only know one A14 on fb and that's because she was my exchange buddy. I'm lame, but I also don't have a bunch of fb friends.
  • Ugh, can't wait to see our new pedi on the 5th. Today at Edolie's 6 month appointment I asked the NP (same one that almost let her topple off the table last time) if her gaining only 12 ounces in the last 4 weeks was normal, and he asked what I've been feeding her. I told him I'm still EBF and am baby-led weaning. He asked, "Baby-led what??" And I had to explain to him what it was. Then he asked, "Well, you're mashing it up right?" Nope... That's not what BLW is, genius. :| I have high hopes for our new pedi!

My daycare provider side eyed the crap at me when I said I gave LO avocado. She was like you mean mashed right? No, soft spears.... Oh.

Should I be proactively trying to wean night feelings? SO thinks so but sleep is way more precious. I don't have the energy to rock him back to sleep and argue with a 6 month old. If he's waking up he's hungry right? I don't have breast feeding anymore but he's every 4 hrs on the dot for a 5oz bottle & right back to sleep. Could be worse right? I'm so lost. Here's my cute family for all my Instagramless friends. Kars was man in the yellow hat & chase was curios George. It was fun, & warm since we were in the mall! I save fb for close friends & family only but idc if my name is on the list @SoulTermination‌ Ive shared a lot on here.
I've been reading Sleepeasy Solution, and it talks about weaning off of night feedings. I want to just so I can get some better sleep, but I wouldn't mind keeping one. I would love to drop the 2-3:30 one and wouldn't mind keeping the 4-5:30 one! From what I've read, they can go all night without eating at this age. He might just be waking up out of habit. The method the book suggests (not sure if there are others, but just in case) is setting an alarm for an hour earlier than they normally eat, and based on the average of minutes that they eat, you wean off 2 minutes each night. Not sure about formula feeding though. If it's something you're wanting to do, I think @dani+california successfully weaned her FF son off night feedings. :)

  • @edoliesmom‌ thank you! Do you think the book would be good for formula feeding too? Or more geared for EBF? I don't mind one as well but two is killing me. I'm tired of being a mombie

It might have talked about it, but I probably skipped over it since it didn't apply to me. I'll check for you right now! :)

@chichi589 Okay, this is what it says:

Take a look back over the last week or so. Note when your child tends to feed at night, and how many ounces he eats each time. If the timing of the feeds tends to vary, use the earliest time for each feed. If you're not sure about the amount of intake for each bottle, approximations are okay, but try to overestimate when in doubt, so your child won't be unnecessarily hungry; if he sometimes eats 4 ounces and sometimes it's closer to 6, for example, use 6 ounces as a starting point. If your child wakes often throughout the night but sometimes doesn't eat more than 2 ounces before returning to sleep, your child is pacifying rather than eating, so this doesn't count as a feed.

In the following example, Emma, who is 5 months and 15 pounds, wakes three times at night to feed.

    7pm Bedtime
    10:30pm Feed 5oz.
    12:20am Feed 1-2oz.
    3:30am Feed 4oz.
    6am Wake time

Anyway, it just goes on to say that you drop the smaller ones (in the example the 12:20am one), and for the significant feeds, you wake an hour early and drop 1 ounce each night, so 9:30 and 2:30 using the example. It later says to offer an ounce or two more per bottle during the day if under a year. Hope that helps! :)

ETA: They made mention of the age and weight because they say a baby needs to be at least 5 months and 15 pounds before weaning, and it says to check with your doctor to make sure you're on the same page about night feedings.

  • My LO tries to sign milk I think but using both hands. She gets really excited when I sign milk. That's the only sign I use at the moment.
  • @edoliesmom‌ thank you SO much for looking that up for me I appreciate it so much! He's 20 lbs and almost 7 months so I will absolutely be looking to do this. @sarahl2p thanks for the advice I absolutely appreciate it. I've been trying to incorporate a lovey since he won't take a pacifier I'll keep trying.
  • @SarahL2P‌ Kermit??

    Can't see it....
