Because I wouldn't hold up my child's achievement level as an example of why my parenting choices are better than someone else's, in a discussion where that's not even relevant.

SMH Who said only handmade are good costumes. Personally I'd prefer to just buy my kids' their costumes. This year I got away with buying one, but they don't sell what my oldest decided on in stores and she decided too late to order off etsy. For a school project, from a teaching stand point, it makes more sense to have handmade.

Geez I was going to be funny and post a pic of the medal my daughter won for best costume in 4 yr old kindergarten. Nevermind...too much drama. BTW anyone wonder why, if the kid can read, he can't figure out what wrapping the sour candy comes in?

1. He was only just turned 4 last Halloween so he wasn't reading more than a few words.
2. I'm pretty sure they don't say sour on them.

Maybe my kids were just too advanced. My son who just turned 5 and would be in Pre-K 4 if he was in school understands quality of a book. He has a ton of the easy reader super hero books that, but knows that some of our other "classic" books are a better quality, the stories flow better, larger usable vocabulary, and not just a "main point" story. When it's his resting time, he can read the easy reader books. When we read at other times of the day, he knows he needs to be reading the harder books.

If he was told he would have a better chance of winning if he stayed in character, he would. The creativity I assume would come from having a homemade costume instead of something off the halloween rack.

I'm late to the patty, but let me tell you one thing. You really are an annoying person, you think you are better than anyone else, just because your kid read something, and because you follow the rules and on top of the comparing kids the learns early than other. That's just talking garbage, next time you give your opinion to this ladies be alittle more mature, we are talking about little kids the they dream to wear whatever customs they want, not adult or teacher has to be so evil and breach their dreams. Those kind of rules apply for kids the are a little bit older bitch.

SMH If the kid can't handle a change in plans (that don't involved not being able to wear the costume for Halloween even), then there are bigger issues. Learning that plans might change is a great life lesson. Seriously, if the kid's life dream is to wear the costume to school...

If the problem was just on how much notice was given (which has been harped on), I could understand a little more, but it keeps coming up that it's this kids dream and his world will be crushed because he's not supposed to wear it to school.

In my poin of view your theory of life lesson is wrong,those kind of lesson apply after the kids are five years old. Before the ages all kids have to explore and made mistakes in order to learn a life lesson. On the other hand,Rules cannot apply to kids the are younger then five years old, for multiples reason. After the kids have learn how to be more independent in their environment and how handle things buy their own, that's when you start being a little more strict, applying rules one by one. But everything starts after the age of five.
