Post and run til later.
At my regular appointment last night we discussed my a/s findings. There was an echogenic focus on the heart. My dr was not concerned because everything else was good (and my quad screen was good) but mentioned that it can be a soft marker for down syndrome. I've been worried about this anyway but now...
I think I am going to get the materniT21 even though she doesn't know if my insurance will cover it based on this alone. I need to know. Does anyone else have any experience with this diagnosis?!
We had almost the exact same thing. My regular quad screen came back with an elevated hormone level that increased our chances of Downs, so my OB sent me to a specialist for a more detailed ultrasound. They found the echogenic focus during that scan and told us that as a soft marker, they're not usually concerned when no other markers are present. Apparently with the advances in medical technology, EFs are seen all the time and since they don't impact cardiac function, there's really no cause for concern. "Yeah, right" said my freaking out brain. Because my quad screen, and then this EF raised my Downs rate to 1/40 or something, we opted for the amnio which showed that all chromosomes were normal. Like so many F15 moms have said, if your doc isn't worried, you shouldn't be either. In my experience, and it is just one, the EF can be 'normal'. Some people have even reported that the EF was gone at the next ultrasound.
Somebody brought germs to work, and now Im sick! Ugh I hate it, especially since my normal routine is to load up on NyQuill and a slew of other meds. Tylenol cold and sinus helped last night, but I still didnt get a full nights rest.
@Sugahcookie01 Did you get the info about the BabyExpo in Downtown Baltimore this weekend? Im planning to go. Let me know if you are.

@sammys1120 - I bought some maternity leggings online at Motherhood Maternity yesterday - buy one get one free. They are pretty basic colors, but not a bad price. I wish I could find some non-basic colors!
I am in the office today. They love to move people around and we are moving cubicles yet again in a week. We moved from across the building less than a year ago. The good news is that I get a window! We've had some other changes in our department that will be interesting. One of my same level co-workers is moving to another department. She's been in this department for about 15 years and the other long timer is totally out of whack because her buddy is moving. It'll be interesting. They are also moving our assistants around. We manage clients so we all have pretty strong personalities and the long term co-worker has been on an odd rampage with all the change happening.
Got up at my normal time and dropped DS off at the sitters then came home for a nap before my drs appt. I have to go back to work after so I figured why wouldn't I just bring him already.
I was in my sisters wedding on the weekend and it was outside and freezing- it was actually snowing for a bit- now I'm sick. I just got over the cold from hell and now I have another one. I'm not impressed.
My coworkers have started this new trend of coming up to me and literally shaking my belly in hopes they'll feel movement. Even though I've told them countless times it's really too early to feel random movement unless I'm laying down and well.. you're my husband and I'm allowing you to.
Sigh... I know this will only get worse with time.
WHAT?!?!?! How is this OK? If my coworkers touched my belly, I'd be really uncomfortable and frankly, pissed off. Are you OK with this? If not, you should seriously make it clear that this is a personal violation. If they do not listen, you should approach a supervisor or HR. I find your comments really worrying- how disrespectful of your colleagues!

@Maple403 I have told them a few times to knock it off, but it still happens here and there. I've learned that when I go downstairs to get my water bottle filled I do it quickly and avoid eye contact. At least a few have asked before just lightly rubbing my belly, but they're all so desperate to feel movement!
@racheltherose It really sounds like harassment to me. You've already asked them to stop- just because you are pregnant does not mean you become communal property for other people to get their baby joy. It's up to you, but if you are so uncomfortable that you need to change your routine and avoid eye contact, it may be time to bring a supervisor in. I have zero tolerance for pregnancy discrimination and harassment. It is still YOUR body, and you have the same rights to personal space.
@Maple403 You're right, I probably should say something. The problem is I'm an uncomfortable laugher...so when I feel awkward I laugh and they might be getting the wrong impression that I'm okay with it
@holachicaaa HAHAH I totally should. I'm super tattooed and when people ask me if my nipples are tattooed I've started replying "No, but are yours hairy?"
Nothing eventful here today- just happy it's my day off. I teach part time, so I get every Tuesday and Friday off, and every other Wed- it's the best. I had a really bad day yesterday and my principal got to see me cry, so that was fun... Nothing dramatic, just a really tough kiddo who finally broke me down (thank goodness it was outside of the classroom- none of my students saw me cry). I'm hoping that will be a turning point since I've had no assistance with this kiddo up to this point, and now my principal has realized how much help the child needs (and I need, too, so that I can help this child).
Been really proud of myself with our savings! We are buying a house this upcoming summer and looking into the possibility of me staying at home, so we've been saving accordingly for the last several years. We owned a home in FL before moving back to OH and we lost our entire savings when we sold it. I am so happy that we had the foresight to save (and pay down the mortgage) like we did so that we didn't go into a huge debt, but it still stunk to go back to point 0. Thank God DH is awesome with finances, b/c we've had a relatively strict budget to help us meet our savings goals, and I've gotten better over the years about making that budget even more strict so that we can save even more. This past month, we spent less than we have in the last entire 8 years of our marriage and it encouraged me to try to meet or beat that again this month. So far, 1 week in, we are on track! It's been really encouraging b/c there's a house that I love on the market, so I keep looking at it's Zillow page and thinking that if I can just keep saving, that could be our home in 8 months. I'm sure that specific house will be gone (fingers crossed it will still be there, though- it's overpriced by a lot, so I'm hoping it'll just stay stagnant), but it helps to make the goals a little more concrete.
@racheltherose I totally understand. I avoid confrontation as well. Usually, people do things that make me uncomfortable and I try to ignore it but then eventually explode. Not a good strategy. I'm lucky that my office is much more understanding about pregnancy. However, people still cross boundaries but I rarely call them out for stupid comments.... but stupid comments are one thing and actual touching is another. Good luck, I hope you find a way to end the uncomfortableness without it being even more awkward
@Maple403 I work at a cosmetology school with 95% women, most of which have children! You'd think they would get it, but they are all baby hungry. Thank you, hopefully it subsides soon... or perhaps they'll stir up some morning sickness one of these times and that would put an end to things.. :-&
Had my first 100% irrational outburst last night, which definitely shocked DH into silence. I was warming up some lo mein in the microwave for 3 minutes and while that was going, cutting up some avocado for a salad. When the microwave had 52 seconds left, H comes in, opens the microwave, takes out the lo mein and dumps it on a plate.... and I FLIPPED OUT. I screamed, "it's not done!" and he said something back like he doesn't want it scorched or something, and i threw the knife in the sink and shrieked WHY DON'T YOU MAKE THE EFFING DINNER. And the avocados were all gross so I threw those away and said STOP BOTHERING ME and stormed out of the kitchen and sobbed in the bathroom. I didn't even feel like it was me, in that moment. Kinda freaky. Poor DH avoided me the rest of the night. Ugh.
Anyway...! Feeling much better today. Hope you all have a good Tuesday
I showed dh your post to prove to him I am not the only one with these outburst I have them at least once a day. Poor guy
Good Morning. I've been pretty MIA lately. They had layoffs at work yesterday so I figured I better do some actual work. Good news ...I survived. It's a crazy busy month though, and stuff just got busier!
I've been nesting like crazy lately. I think I'm really afraid I'm going to be put on bed rest. I am not really sure why I feel that way, except feeling like overall crap...I didn't get put on bed rest until 34 weeks last time. Go back to the OB tomorrow for our follow up a/s. Hoping baby is flipped so they can get a good look at her heart and is growing well since the cord placement is off.
that's weird @racheltherose. Maybe rub their stomachs and ask them how breakfast is settling in.
Speaking of baby movement- I'm nervous for when I'm huge while teaching in January and February and a random foot kicks out of my stomach in front of the class. Awkward.
Haha, this happened my first pregnancy, but the girls would kick up a storm only in the afternoon after lunch, so my Honors classes would be the lucky ones to witness their movements. One of the girls was smitten with my growing belly and would ask me every single day if she could rub my belly. She was over the moon when she got to feel them kick. It was adorable! A few of the other girls were freaked out, of course, but they kept coming back to watch. Hehe!
@ckimberly14 I wouldn't mind as much if they asked! I love sharing the feeling with my husband... and maybe close friends but random coworkers, not so much
Well my dh left this morning. He woke up late so he was running out the door. I'm waiting for a heartfelt text because he kissed my forehead and said see you in November....needless to say it made me feel even more sad than it typically would. Oh hormones why are you doing this to me?

@kismetjess There are rumors here that tomorrow there are going to be massive layoffs. It's been happening on and off for over a year now. I have managed to survive and feel ok, but scary/sad none then less. The joy of working for a large corp.
I feel so clingy lately. All I want is to hang out with DH and like, actually just lay on top of him and stare at him and make him tell me I'm pretty. Anyone else? I think I'm making him nuts but he's being patient. I suspect that when he says "why don't you nap and I'll fold the laundry/clean the kitchen/do everything in the house" it's just because he needs some time away from me, but I'll take it. Maybe we need a romantic weekend away/babymoon. He just started a new job (his dream job as an ADA, don't even get me started on the pay cut) so he can't take ANY vacation time until the baby comes, so a real babymoon is out of the question. Sadface.
I was running late to work and was dropping off DS at my parent's so my dad can take him to school (as usual). As we were walking in, we saw a huge leaf bug by their door. DS got so excited. At that point, I was really, really, late to work and decided I would just take DS to school myself. We grabbed a jar and took the bug, and a leaf to school for show and tell. DS was so happy and excited. He kept telling everyone that we don't eat the bug and we don't cook the bug. He also kept reminding everyone that they have to let him go later. It made my heart melt.

Oops should have tagged @holachicaaa! I was aiming my comment toward her mentioning her students being able to see her LO move while she's teaching in January. But yes, I agree that people should definitely ask permission before touching you, pregnant or not! Like PPs have said, I'd tell them one more time and then report harassment if they don't stop.
@Izzy0927 hahaha I am exactly the same way... It's to the point that FI has asked me why I feel the need to be on top of him all of the time... I don't care, I do it anyway... There's something about couch snuggles where I fit perfectly in "my spot" with his arm around me and my head on his chest...I know it bugs him sometimes but last night we were watching that silly Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore most recent movie where they go to Africa about "blended" families (which we are, having both been divorced and with him already having a beautiful daughter) and there's this scene where they sit face to face for a couples massage and it's awkward and he tells me to turn to him and we copy them (we are so lame) and it made my heart so happy later they got up and danced and he pulled me up and danced with me in our living room (I struggle with super lovie stuff sometimes so I was laughing and it was hardly respectful to the romantic gesture). So he can tell me to get off of him but I know he secretly loves that stuff too.
What am i doing wrong when buying maternity clothes?
I've bought clothes twice and they don't fit now. When I bought them they were larges from mother hood maternity and they fit even with the fake bump. Now I constantly pull my shirt down throughout the whole day.
Nothing fits. Did I expand in weird places the fake bump doesnt cover? Someone help!?
I dont want to ask the ladies in the store when I got today because they will try to sell me everything in the store and they always try to sell me clothes I dont need even when i constantly tell them I dont need work clothes or dresses.
I;m just about to completely flip my shit today.

@MaddScientist that stinks. I would honestly look around for new insurance. They say you should do this every 2-3 years because companies tend to slowly raise prices on you as it is.
Love is like infinity: You can't have more or less infinity, and you can't compare two things to see if they're "equally infinite." Infinity just is, and that's the way I think love is, too.

Yeah, my renewal is up at the end of Nov. so I will shop around before then. It sucks because I just changed last year, and now I am sorry I did - it seemed like such a better deal, but now I think it was just initial discounts for signing up and overall it wasn't cheaper

Some of my shirts from MM only fit during the beginning of my pregnancy...it also depends on where you expand from. I will say this...if the shirt does not have ruching, then I find it will not last as long through the pregnancy. I am a big gainer, though, and almost gained 50 with my first. I try to make sure everything I buy is super long. Maybe you can look for tall maternity sizes or read the reviews and see if people talk about the length.

This looks awesome! If I wasnt heading the other way on 95 this weekend to nyc I would totally considering going. Hope you have fun and score lots of stuff!
I hate it when I want to vent and husband can't just let me vent! I said something to him about having to contact my boss because someone here in the lab has been signing my name to e-mails from our general lab e-mail account. Even on day's I'm not in the office. He starts going in on how I should get IT to change how the system is set up and on and on and on. I told him I was just trying to vent, and that IT wasn't going to change the whole system just because of our lab. He still just went on and on and on about it! grrr, just let me bitch!
Oh but if I did have an issue that I wanted suggestions on, it would be like pulling teeth!
