I have a question for all STMs who get their child/ren the flu vax annually: would you take them to a place like CVS MinuteClinic if their peds office was out of the shot? Sorry if this is a dumb question. DD has never seen anyone but her ped...and I'm not 100% comfortable with her seeing anyone else. I'm also not interested in starting a convo about the flu vax...just looking for moms with experience!
@af9211 most places like CVS won't do young children so I would try to get into your ped.
Love is like infinity: You can't have more or less infinity, and you can't compare two things to see if they're "equally infinite." Infinity just is, and that's the way I think love is, too.

@aggiebug She'll be 20 months this month. I know Walgreens is 2 years, but MinuteClinic starts the flu vax at 18 months. We've already been to the peds and were put on a call list if & when the vax comes in. I'm not really that comfortable waiting until end of November/December.
Positive thoughts your way @lizzybean. We also found out today our little boy has an echogenic focus on his heart (calcification) but my doctor was incredibly reassuring that without any other markers, it was nothing to worry about and that we should be thrilled about our healthy baby boy.

Thank you!! Okay I wasn't sure that was the same thing! Yes, along with the good NT scan results that we had done at 12 weeks, my MW was very reassuring that all was well and she was right! I am sure that is the case for you as well
@AF9211 wtf is up with the lack of pediatric flu shots??? Henry had a well baby yesterday and I SO thought he would get it...boo for extra trips to the pediatrician's office. *I* always get sick when we go there. Henry is only 15 months so I only have 1 option.
@mandamoochie I was told at her 18 month checkup in August to call the day before her next appointment (in Sept. for her Hep A shot) and tell them I want her to have the flu shot that day too since they weren't scheduling for it then. I called the day before her appointment in September and was told they were out of it and they didn't know when they'd be getting it back in. Um? So you weren't scheduling for them in August knowing you'd get them in September, but you ran out of them by the time (less than 30 days) I was coming back in? Annoying. So I've been put on a call list if/when it comes back in. But I'm not holding my breath for a call!
@bhjones1980 I slept on a sleep number bed at a hotel once and my major complaint was the noise. It was pretty quiet if you want to decline. .. But to raise it up, the noise totally interrupted a good night's sleep for either person in the bed. Just off of that experience, I personally wouldn't want one while I had an infant sleeping in the room.
F15 January Siggy Challenge: What I'm Looking Forward to After the Babies Arrive Bringing them both home...UPDATE...The girls are home!!! 1/7/15 after 20 days in the NICU!
Sending a general good vibe out to everyone. Haven't had much time to bump today because I worked 12 hours. However, my DBF is the best because he had dinner waiting for me when I got home & now we are watching Skins UK (is my age showing, guys?)! My ankles are SO SWOLLEN that it's silly. Anyway, congrats @ducktale on your girl & I hope everyone has a great day!
Soaking in a warm bath... Greatest feeling ever...
Until I have to get out...

@foxslaw 12 hours. Yikes, that's a long day. I second a warm bath. Maybe some Epsom salt. Have not had to deal with the swelling yet. My fingers are crossed.
@AF9211 I hadn't even considered the thought that our pedi might not have flu shots available. I'm going to call her office tomorrow and see if I can schedule DS for one Thursday. I have an OB appointment right next door, so DH can be the bad guy this year and bring him for his shot I had planned on waiting until his November physical, but this seems smarter. I expect to get my shot tomorrow at my appointment, so then I just have to worry about getting DH to schedule his. I think they are offering them at his office again this year.
F15 December Siggy Challenge: Holiday Decoration Fails
@catladytx I didn't think about it last year. They offered it to us at her 6 month checkup and I said sure whatever. Now of course when I really want her to get it, they don't have it! I think I'm extra paranoid because of this stupid Enterovirus & its publicity.
Our pedi only has the mist in so far. I'm waiting for the shot but if they don't get it soon...I may go to the minute clinic. I probably wouldnt if it were her first time getting it, but i feel better knowing shes had the vacinne before. Last year DD got hers at the pedi, but it was two rounds. Does anyone know if they still break it up into 2 rounds once they turn two?
Edit: my phone stripped out every the I typed. That made for a really shitty post.
I just brought DS into the pedi because he had a cold sore and they needed to see him before prescribing acyclovir. While there I saw the signs about the flu shot and he got a surprise shot. Otherwise I don't know if I would have thought to schedule and appointment before his 2 year check-up in Jan. (Bad mommy, I know) As far as I know DS only needs the one flu shot this year.
@af9211 When I went to the Safeway pharmacy to get myself a flu shot it wasn't covered by my insurance, so I would have had to pay out of pocket. So I'm waiting to see my PCP or OB and get it done there. So, I would check where your insurance covers before heading to a pharmacy clinic.

It's been a busy day between DS and writing a paper for class. A great day!
