  • Why did my baby all of a sudden decide that sleep was overrated?

And how the fuck is DH sleeping through her screams?? I need him to take a few of these fuss-fests so I can sleep a little.

THIS is exactly how i felt last night. My dh sleeps through it too. Though he did admit to hearing me say "are you kidding me?" A few times. I told him today that when i go back to work he needs to be prepared to get up w him if it's a time ds just needs to be held and put back to bed

I'm exhausted. We're still feeding every 3-4 hours. I feel like I have only just closed my eyes when it's time for the next feeding. DD is congested. I can't tell if it's normal newborn nose or if she's getting something. It worries me with all this crap going around.

This is my DS too. Last night dh and i just held him nervous about how his breathing sounds. He seems better today.

  • LO slept 3.5 hours. I slept 2.5! I'm so happy!! If I can only coax a little more out of her after this bottle.
Also yesterday morning DH woke me up by carrying DD1 into me yelling that she was choking. She was. I had to baby hiemlich her. So lucky for her and me, I will be feeding her this morning and it'll be at least marginally less traumatizing.
  • Two nights in a row with more than four hours and instead of celebrating, I'm dreading next week. She should be starting the first leap followed by her six weeks growth spurt. I should focus on enjoying this week while I can, especially since my childhood best friend is coming to visit from Texas!

  • What is this "first leap" everyone is speaking of? It sounds scary...like my limited sleep will be limited even further.

Also, DD fell asleep on the boob. Debating hiw long to wait before I move her so I can shower for my OB appt.

  • @zoeyy‌ thanks...sound like I foubd the reason why we can't put her down for 2 seconds

On a related note: I can't wake her up to take my other boob...but I set her down to shower and 3 minutes in, she's screaming her head off. Awesome.

  • I did a no no last night and coslept with Lacy just so I could sleep. She WILL NOT sleep unless I'm holding her or she's nursing.. Ugh. Daytime she does great.. Nighttime? Try the 6 hour long scream burp nurse repeat routine I had the other night...

The first leap is expected between 4.5 to 5.5 weeks after the edd. My LO was born six days early so it lines up with the expected 6 weeks growth spurt. I got an app on my android about the wonder weeks so I can expect some stormy times during the first 81 weeks of her life

    Lol borrowed. Borrowed without returning...
  • So, I ended up buying the Wonder Weeks book for my Kindle and read through the first leap...and decided that cosleeping with little miss was the best way to get through this stormy period. I'm in the guest bed now...with a soundly sleeping baby. Hopefully this only lasts for another day or so

  • Having flashbacks to when my DS was this age and he acted like my breast milk was poison. Was hoping this one would be different. I so want to throw in the towel but I swore to myself Id give it at least a month. I just don't like all the blood curdling screaming after every feeding. He's burping, pooping and I'm using gas drops, but still with the back arching and hollering :(

@Bella2425... My ped said the back arching and struggling is a common sign of reflux. Just something to keep an eye out for

  • Had a weight check today LO had gained a lb over the last week. That was so reassuring as i was convinced he want eating enough. Was also convinced he has reflux, but my outed thinks he is eating too much.

Currently sitting w a baby asleep w boob in mouth, i don't want to rush him because he gets hiccups, then gets upset and throws up.

Also tried feeding him wo taking his clothes off first, my laziness means ill now have to fight to keep him awake for this feeding

  • @Bella2425 my pedi today told me to put pressure on the tummy when my LO was showing really upset signs of gas pains. And it's really working! I put him up to my chest and scoot down a little so it's comfortable for both and he get so calm and comfortable for him too. It takes a good 30-45 mins to be able to put him back down but it's so worth it than the horrible fussing and cries he does in pain.
  • What the hell left boob! Why can't you keep up with right? LO hates nursing off of you, I make her start on you because I'm paranoid about you drying up. Get with the program!

  • I need to stop obsessing over LO's latch. It's not textbook, but it doesn't hurt and he is swallowing. It stresses me out, which stresses him out and I just now got him down since being up since 1:30. Some times I'm my own worst enemy. :/

I had this exact discussion with thr doc yesterday. Thought it was gas (due to constipation before) but it definitely looks like reflux.

  • It only took an hour to get her down tonight instead of three! Hopefully she goes down easy after this feeding, too.
  • LO just got a bath at 3:30am for having a diaper blowout through her outfit and receiving blanket. Once dressed again and eating she then spits up all over outfit, boopy, and my bed. She is now hanging out in her swing because it's the only place left for her to sleep that's clean. I really hope the rest of the night is quiet. Sad part is I was sleeping better than I have in a long time before I woke her up for a bottle.
  • @Bella2425‌ Reflux is no joke! Can make a baby miserable even without the projectile spits they ask about. Just switched formulas on LO again and will likely be adding Zantac next week plus BioGja probiotic drops. Hoping that will help. This guy has it worse than my DS1 dud. Making for some long miserable nights.

On a positive note...LO ate at 9:30 and was down by 10:30. Woke for first time at 3:30! Thank you God for this 5 hours of sleep! He's been back down since 4....let's see if I get another good stretch?

  • What happened to my baby who likes to sleep at night?? This baby in his crib looks just like mine, but it can't be the same kid...

I feel the same way. 2am and she still won't go the fuck to sleep.

  • SO scared the hell out of me. He jolted awake and asked where the baby was. Cue both of us frantically tearing up blankets and pillows and me checking the floor. He was In his RnP next to me, but I was in such a panic I overlooked him the first time I glanced over.

Madeleine has terrrrible reflux but never spits up. Back arches and she screams such a painful cry, face turns red and she squirms. It is definitely not gas b/c we can vent her gas right up her gtube (one perk in all this). We keep her inclined at all times... Esp during/after feeding and keep her still after eating. No rocking, jostling or carrying her about for about a half hr at least. And she has reflux medicine
I'm glad this got brought up. DD1 had problems, but she spit up a lot. So that's what I looked for. But this time it's looking more like what y'all are talking about. Poor thing got so upset her face and hair were a little sweaty!!
    Eta: brain fail...
  • I think T is about to have his first wake up of the night.  He went down after his bottle, and we're just waiting for him to wake up so we can head upstairs and get settled for the night.  He just started stirring, so it should be soon.

Because we had a good sleep night last night, I'm not counting on the same tonight.  I'm honestly surprised he's stayed down this long after his bottle.  It's usually a race afterwards to see if I can finish pumping before he loses his mind and then he eats again.

yea we don't get much, iif any spit up but she shows the other signs (back thing, timing of fussing, etc) doc called it silent b/c of the lack of lots of spit up
