MOTN Check-In

Re: MOTN Check-In

  • @Marchie1214‌ - H usually works nights and I'm ok with that. I just over did yesterday entertaining HIS mom and step dad while he worked. H also got 10 uninterrupted hours of sleep in his sleeper truck. I'm just jealous and bitter. When he's here he does get up and change her for me.

  • DH still isn't sleeping when she sleeps, and because I have been sleeping extra during the day it's ME who is still wired after the 3:30 feeding. We made it 4 hours between feedings, but evidently she wouldn't stay down for more than an hour without fussing for DH and his sister who stayed the night because she felt like it?? Whatever I don't honestly care I just hope the boogie stays down and lets DH get some sleep because he finally passed out while I was nursing. I've got the boogie swaddled up tight and that seems to be keeping her quiet.

Also question: We have a good latch so far, I don't have but the slightest pain when she starts to nurse, but I'm noticing now when my nips get hard due to cold or whatever they hurt like hell, is this normal?(If anything BFing soothes the pain--weird) Is this a breastfeeding thing? Or are my boobs just speshul and sensitive?

  • DS was up at 5:25 for 2nd time. Ds1 has been having night terrors and crying out in his sleep all night. I've essentially been women out of a light sleep every hour and a half or so between both boys. God I'm tired!

I'm hoping to catch some sleep in the car if the boys cooperate. We are driving 2 hours to Sesame Place for some Halloween fun with the big guy. Plan on wearing the little one all day so no ne ou he's him.

He's 1 month old today! God, how does that happen so fast! I wish I could slow time down!

  • He slept until 3:15! Dd was still
Awake though. I think she may be ready to go to sleep now that I'm awake and although ds is done bfing and I could put him in his bed, I am scared to move and put the boob away to put him in bed and disturb dd while she is closing her eyes finally. Go to sleep, girl child, go to sleep....
  • Bahahaha!! Dh is going to be so pissed when I go out to tell him that I got dd to sleep in like 15 minutes without even touching her and was even bfing at the same time!!! Yup, I'm pretty much supermom around here! ;)

Sometimes I get a 5 but holy moly 7 sounds luxurious.

I'm trying to wean off the nipple shield after a LLL meeting today and she is so fussy at the breast. It's so frustrating she latches on, then pushes herself off and roots, then screams at my boob in frustration. I'm so tired and she seems like she's starving.

I've said this about a bazillion times, but I don't give a damn about my dependence in my nipple shield. It saves my sanity and nursing is quicker, so I said eff it, and I only attempt bare boob during the day, when I'm not as desperate for sleep.
I feel the same way. DS is so finicky about when he will take my nipple with or without the guard I almost always just use it now. Does it really matter?!

  • Super annoyed right now! I was leaning over to help DH with LO while I was pumping and good amount of my milk came out this little hole in the top and spilled all over my bed/ Wouldn't be that big of a deal if I made enough milk but every drop I get is precious and lots of work. Then we put LO down and he spits up so I pick him and he spits up all over me and the carpet.

I once had to throw out a container of breast milk because I forgot to put it in the fridge and it had been sitting out on the counter for 7 hrs. It was a whole 3 ounces of milk, which takes me 2-3 pumping sessions to get. I totally lost it and cried for half an hour.

@Rmj1022‌ my LO has started fussiness recently, so, when he stops actively sucking and swallowing, I lay him on my chest. This helps him to burp and gives him a chance to fall asleep. If he's not hungry anymore, this usually world, if he is still hungry, he will start fussing, routing, and eventually scream.

I made use of my rocking chair finally and it seems to put her to sleep as well- thanks for the idea. I read your post earlier and I think we have similar fussy baby problems. Here's to hoping it will get better soon!

    Yes. This.
I'm lucky for maybe two hours. My longest hours involve me holding her. I co-slept (something my stress riddled mind is not a huge fan of) with her last night and got the longest stretch of her whole little 4 week life!
  • @str13‌ girl I swore not to cosleep because of stress and here we are cosleeping up a storm cuZ mama has to sleep. I still wake up frequently to check on him but it's a better sleep than before cosleeping for sure

  • Also someone decided that 3am was really 3pm... and was wide freaking awake and not happy from 245-8am. She was only happy when she was eating. and then when done eating.. she just cried unless I held her. arg. And then when I held her, all she did was look up at me with big eyes saying "what mom? why aren't you wide awake like me!"

Also because she was born in August and was so small we're still on orders to wake her up at LEAST every 3 hours to feed (and then I get to pump after said feed). I can't wait until we can let her sleep longer.. but I'm sure once we get the green light for that, she'll probably wake up that often anyways.

Add me to this club. DS slept in his RnP just fine for 3 weeks, and the last week has gone to hell in a hand basket when it comes to that. So, Co-sleeping it has been.

  • I put LO in her crib for the first time last night and she slept 2.5 hours! I do believe that are longest stretch yet! Repeat tonight?

  • @conradraging, @CarmAlarm, &@kmbk27 thanks girls!! Makes me feels like I'm not a monster mama!! United cosleeping against our wills!!!

It's just what I get though!! DD1 slept like a dream in her RnP. And my cousin coslept and I was all preachy to DH about it. And here I am punching my pillows away, consoling myself with thoughts of how it'll "regulate her breathing". Lol
  • Kicking myself for not taking the surgeons offer to have my gallbladder removed Thursday. Another ER visit last night because of freaking stones. Luckily DH got a good five hours of sleep before. LO was a great baby before we went in and during. LO has been having a rough week sleeping at night with fussiness and gas pains.

So ready for Tuesday to come to get it out! Was on the fence about the surgery just getting in my head about the anesthesia and recovery, but after another night of pain where I could barely walk, talk or breath, bring it on! And totally did it to myself ... Had four bites of fried rice. Couldn't resist. Stupid stupid stupid.

You are not alone in co sleeping. I hate it but I am exhausted and would get zero sleep otherwise. I do still try to get her to sleep in crib or bassinet but 98% of the time she is not having it.

Been there. I had 10ish years of intermittent gb pain and no one knew why. I finally diagnosed myself and went to urgent care during an attack and told the dr what was going on. It was out within 2 weeks. It's completely worth it and amazing not having the pain afterwards.

Some words of advice: make it known to the surgeon and anesthesiologist if you are bf. I was able to resume bf as soon as I was awake enough to be able to handle dd who was 5 1/2ish months. They will make sure anesthesia and pain meds are safe.

Keep your cough pillow close. Don't over do it with lifting kids and sitting up on your own. And keep up on the pain meds religiously just like with any other procedure. Overall it wasn't a bad recovery but I was sore for a while. I also had to have some dye and extra imaging done while I was under so that may have contributed to my extra post op discomfort.

I do have to stay away from some foods afterwards. Things can cause diarrhea like overly oily and greasy foods. I can use real butter but not margerine. It's been small diet changes and completely manageable. Good luck and feel better soon!
  • @tigger99‌ *hugs* I totally commiserate. I'm tryin to build a supply for when I go back to work in a week, but there's no way I'm going to have enough. I get a couple mL's after feeding...it's so discouraging.

  • DD hasn't gone to bed yet. She took a little nap when mom was here and woke up at 7:30 or so...I've fed her, changed the diaper, burped her, and am now just hanging out in the glider with one very awake baby. Here's hoping it's not a sign of what's to come tonight.

Oh, and Miss Kitty has not left my side since we came up at 9:30. She hasn't moved from her guard post. Best attack cat ever.

  • Still haven't gotten LO down yet. She seems to alternate good nights and bad nights.
  • Last night was apparently too good to repeat... LO just wants to be held and rocked. Try putting her down in crib, half hour later she is screaming. I guess tonight we are just gonna cuddle in the glider. I will enjoy this now and take a nap tomorrow.

  • So, LO slept all of 2.5 hours. Ugh...I'm such a mombie
  • This cold can bite me. I feel like shit. There will be tears (mine) before tomorrow morning I know this for a fact.

  • I just got too distracted/sleepy while pumping and didn't realize my left boob leaked everywhere and that I pumped too much (trying to not fully empty to get this oversupply under control, and eping so that's why I'm pumping). andddd I got too excited about sleepy baby too soon... ugh go to sleeeeep little girl! It is not time to party/scream/rage.

  • @1983lindsey‌ That was us tonight as well...minus the in laws. Crying woke up DH and he walked in on an inconsolable baby AND mommy. He took DD and tried to calm her...after 2 poops, a bunch of gas, and some gripe water, she finally slept for 2 hours.

    *hugs* you're def not whiny

  • B woke up at 3 instead of 4 but he's been asleep since 10, it's so awesome but it won't happen again! I enjoyed that much needed sleep. Now I feel awake and I just want to go back to sleep but I don't think I will be able to. Fan.tas.tic.

I also woke up with a night sweat, um seriously. I haven't had one in over a week and I have one tonight but I guess I was sleeping hard.
