I know I don't post often, but I have five $5 Similac coupons that I'd like to give someone. I hate throwing away free money. PM me if you are interested. First person gets them. Thanks!
So those safe haven laws where you can dump your baby at a church or hospital no questions asked, what age is that good till? And will they take 2 for 1?
Uhm @dani+california that is amazing. The space nerd in me in kind of stoked that you know the person who made Skywatch. :-B
ps: Hiiiiiii RTT. We moved this weekend. I'm trying very hard to not give in to this cold that is threatening my body. This weekend, we're travelling to the White Mountains to go to a Harry Potter themed wedding. And go hiking. And eat all the cider donuts. And take rustic New Englandy photos of LO. And get a mani pedi. And drink cranberry mimosas.
Also: Soaking tub and fireplace in our hotel room. And grandparents who are INSISTING that LO sleep in their suite. Awwwwwwww yeah.
I miss you all. Ima try my best to keep up now that moving craziness is over.
I feel so terrible for my LO. He is super sick. I'm talking thick boogers coming out of his nose sick. I feel like it's my fault for taking him to the gym daycare, which is where I think he picked it up. I have it too and I feel like shit. I can't imagine what he feels like. Ugh.
I feel like LO knows when we are home now and is more relaxed, talks more, naps better and is just generally more himself. He hasn't been napping good at the sitters and today DH picked him up early and brought him home and he napped for almost 2 hours. I guess he is just more aware of his surroundings now. Either that or the home body in me is making up excuses to stay home. Anyone else feel like their babies are getting more skeptical of new places and people?
My baby is the same way. We'll be at my ILs, and she won't be as talkative and giggly as she usually is at home. Her stranger danger phase started around 4 months.

Lurkin' so hard, y'all. Today was my day off and I spent quality time with DH and Sullivan, bought some bigger sleepers at Carter's on sale, paid bills and got some work done on a business plan I'm putting together. Feeling productive but mighty sleepy. Tomorrow I have the day off and DH doesn't, I'm gonna nap and bump so hard during Sullivan's naps!
Today was a good day. Grandma is feeling much better she's writing on her dry erase board (thanks for the suggestion!!) trying so hard to talk. She moves to the rehab part of the hospital tomorrow and is estimated to be home in 3 weeks. Doctors are shocked and delighted for an 89 yr old woman. Her speech is still gone but they are hopefully speech therapy will help. I am so thankful for your positive thoughts and prayers RTT I appreciate it so much:)
I went to the hospital after work and came home to reports Chase was grumpy all day. He was all smiles when I got home and fell asleep on me without a fight.

Commence night #2 of bed to myself! DH is going hunting in the morning and our room is right over DD's. He's never successfully gotten out of bed without making the floor squeak so bad it woke her up. Somehow I can stealth walk without a sound, though...
I'm here on the computer at 11 and I think I'm just going to stay on the damned couch tonight. And I left the baby monitor on in the bedroom so hopefully it wakes DH up because I am in that bad of a mood.
Why is it wrong for a 5 year old to dress in mandarin pajamas for halloween?? I see that some people say its like an asian dressing as a white person, but thats not actually a correct comparison. Its more like a chinese person dressing as an american. How can that be offensive?
and the kids 5! its not like she putting blackface to be black, or yellow paint to be asian, those are not appropriate, shes dressing in the outfit of a country!
Angel baby June 2013, DD born 22 April 2014, BFP 10 Sept 2015 - Due 22 May 2016
Last night I asked DH before I went to bed to wake up and bottle feed the baby so I could get some sleep. She's been sleep regressing and up 4-5 times a night to nurse for 5 minutes and fall back to sleep. So I dream-nurse her at 10 and pass the eff out. 1:45 she's awake and DH is like "oh here's your Boppy, I can't find the bottle nipples." I'm like wtaf?! It's not that hard. Now I'm awake and pissed.
Repeat at 3:30 and 5:45 and now we're awake for the day. Awesome. DH has been avoiding me because he knows he's in the doghouse. We're going to have a conversation called "we only have 6 drawers, it's not that hard to look inside them to find things". He better come home tonight with apology cannoli.
::pounds coffee and cold pills:: Thursday can only go up from here, right?
If my child were passionate about the culture id research historical people in mandarin with her and see if any of them make her excited. I'd let her be that person
3 hours of sleep is insufficient. Let me just pour a can of coke over my cereal...
DH and I need a heart to heart ASAP. I know he's working 12 hours, but between that, him deciding he's "too busy" to take his shift at night, and the fact he's been away on a fun trip and a business trip the last two weeks... I'm not happy.
Also I feel horrible because I'm only now semi-functional. I've been lying on the floor for the past three+ hours while rotating LO from his command center, to his blanket with toys, to his jumper and back.

Uh this is me every day. Ahahaha I'm on the floor right now! What's a command centre? Sounds spacey and awesome
Hahahah, I usually do it for a little when he wakes up before seven, but he was up at five today so...
The command center is what we call the Step and Play Piano. DH has dreams of making a version that is star trek themed!
Dani, being black or Asian isn't a profession. Making race into something exotic enough to be a costume is offensive. It's alienating and saying certain people, just by being people, are weird and strange enough to be a costume. Just being a person should never be a costume.
I think it's hard to understand for whites because that's privilege. There are no Caucasian costumes hanging in stores stereotyping us or equating us with a certain time period. White people are writing the history books about white people and culture for school kids, and our kids grow up with fairy tales full of white people throughout time. If a 5 year old little girl has a western historical dress, she wouldn't want to dress up as a European - she'd say Cinderella.
I think this falls under something you don't have to understand, just respect people who live a different experience. Feeling we're entitled to "get it" and have someone explain is also a part of white privilege!
Some people also argue that dressing up as any specific character from another race is racist. Which I don't get.
I disagree. There are definitely costumes that generalize white people i.e. cowboy and no one bats an eye. There are other cultural costumes (not race related) like skateboarder, cheerleader, ninja. I don't think dressing to represent a culture is offensive. I dressed up as an Italian pizza chef once, complete with hat and mustache. Granted, I am Italian by heritage, but I don't think it would have been offensive if I weren't
FFC - when I was in first grade I wanted to be an "Indian" (Native American) for Halloween. Not only did my parents let me, my mom made the costume. Whoops. I was 6. Forgive me?
My blissful night alone in my bed was terrible. DD was up and unhappy from 2-4 and of course I couldn't fall back to sleep. I had to laugh when I went to get her up this morning. I had her jammies off, diaper changed, and was starting to get her dressed before she even opened her eyes!
