  • I know I don't post often, but I have five $5 Similac coupons that I'd like to give someone. I hate throwing away free money. PM me if you are interested. First person gets them. Thanks!
  • Does anyone know how @BiggerinRealLife's holiday is going? I miss her!

  • Oh my GOD are these teething poops horrible. I almost puked changing him earlier.  :-&

I puked today right after changing DS. It was terrible. His teething and solid poop on top of MS is the worst. :-&

  • I feel so terrible for my LO. He is super sick. I'm talking thick boogers coming out of his nose sick. I feel like it's my fault for taking him to the gym daycare, which is where I think he picked it up. I have it too and I feel like shit. I can't imagine what he feels like. Ugh.
  • I think around 6 months is when they usually start their "stranger danger" phase, isn't it?

  • I feel like LO knows when we are home now and is more relaxed, talks more, naps better and is just generally more himself. He hasn't been napping good at the sitters and today DH picked him up early and brought him home and he napped for almost 2 hours. I guess he is just more aware of his surroundings now. Either that or the home body in me is making up excuses to stay home. Anyone else feel like their babies are getting more skeptical of new places and people?

My baby is the same way. We'll be at my ILs, and she won't be as talkative and giggly as she usually is at home. Her stranger danger phase started around 4 months.

  • Week 24: 'Your baby cries for about 2 3/4 hours a day'

Uhhhhh what?! I would die! LO cries *maybe* like 5 minutes a day. When I change him at night and sometimes when he's going down for a nap.

Please tell me my book is wrong because having a second becomes scarier every day. Haha

I think I break babies. Both mine could easily top this. Aislyn pretty much cries every minute she is awake. And she doesn't nap so that's a lot.
  • I'm here on the computer at 11 and I think I'm just going to stay on the damned couch tonight.  And I left the baby monitor on in the bedroom so hopefully it wakes DH up because I am in that bad of a mood.

  • I read through it and am genuinely confused!

Why is it wrong for a 5 year old to dress in mandarin pajamas for halloween?? I see that some people say its like an asian dressing as a white person, but thats not actually a correct comparison. Its more like a chinese person dressing as an american. How can that be offensive?

and the kids 5! its not like she putting blackface to be black, or yellow paint to be asian, those are not appropriate, shes dressing in the outfit of a country!

    I'm sick.

Last night I asked DH before I went to bed to wake up and bottle feed the baby so I could get some sleep. She's been sleep regressing and up 4-5 times a night to nurse for 5 minutes and fall back to sleep. So I dream-nurse her at 10 and pass the eff out. 1:45 she's awake and DH is like "oh here's your Boppy, I can't find the bottle nipples." I'm like wtaf?! It's not that hard. Now I'm awake and pissed.

Repeat at 3:30 and 5:45 and now we're awake for the day. Awesome. DH has been avoiding me because he knows he's in the doghouse. We're going to have a conversation called "we only have 6 drawers, it's not that hard to look inside them to find things". He better come home tonight with apology cannoli.

::pounds coffee and cold pills:: Thursday can only go up from here, right?
  • 3 hours of sleep is insufficient.  Let me just pour a can of coke over my cereal...

DH and I need a heart to heart ASAP.  I know he's working 12 hours, but between that, him deciding he's "too busy" to take his shift at night, and the fact he's been away on a fun trip and a business trip the last two weeks... I'm not happy.

  • Also I feel horrible because I'm only now semi-functional.  I've been lying on the floor for the past three+ hours while rotating LO from his command center, to his blanket with toys, to his jumper and back.

  • Maybe that's an UO? I don't know.

  • Dani, being black or Asian isn't a profession. Making race into something exotic enough to be a costume is offensive. It's alienating and saying certain people, just by being people, are weird and strange enough to be a costume. Just being a person should never be a costume. I think it's hard to understand for whites because that's privilege. There are no Caucasian costumes hanging in stores stereotyping us or equating us with a certain time period. White people are writing the history books about white people and culture for school kids, and our kids grow up with fairy tales full of white people throughout time. If a 5 year old little girl has a western historical dress, she wouldn't want to dress up as a European - she'd say Cinderella. I think this falls under something you don't have to understand, just respect people who live a different experience. Feeling we're entitled to "get it" and have someone explain is also a part of white privilege!
Some people also argue that dressing up as any specific character from another race is racist.  Which I don't get.

  • FFC - when I was in first grade I wanted to be an "Indian" (Native American) for Halloween. Not only did my parents let me, my mom made the costume. Whoops. I was 6. Forgive me?
  • @dani+california‌ he is too cute!!!

My blissful night alone in my bed was terrible. DD was up and unhappy from 2-4 and of course I couldn't fall back to sleep. I had to laugh when I went to get her up this morning. I had her jammies off, diaper changed, and was starting to get her dressed before she even opened her eyes!
