Stepherly: that's too cute, I tell me Asperger's daughter that she's making the baby cry if she won't clean her room and so far it works
Dude, please don't do this. It's manipulative, and can make her feel like it's her fault if anything does go wrong with your pregnancy.
Shit, never really thought about it that way.
I'm pretty sensitive to it because someone said something similar to my kiddo (about his step mother's pregnancy) so I had to try to undo that so he didn't think my losses were his fault.

I can't even imagine that. I never told my daughter about the two losses I had because they happened early, but what I thought of as a harmless way to get her attention could blow up in my face if God forbid this pregnancy were also to end, thanks for your perspective
I'm new here. hubby has been OOT since Thursday and my little was sick. I can't wait to pick up hubby, bring him home, and sleep for 14 hours straight! I'm beyond exhausted.
Good morning ladies! Today is my day of cleaning (ugh) since my mommy is coming to town! I know I sound like a 5yo but my mom lives in SC and I'm in TX so I don't get to see her very often. Also I have a doctor appt tomorrow which means my mom will get to go! The doctor let me Facetime her last time but it's not quite the same as being there in person.
My SO has been a real peach the last few days. Men just don't understand why we're not in the mood no matter how many times you try to explain it!
@SNLT1012 ouch! When we went to FL in May, that's what I looked like. It was awful. I hope you get to feeling better soon!
@FrecklesInside that's neat that your DD signs! I'd love to have my baby learn to do that too. How old was she when you started teaching her?
I promise I Googled first but I found such a wide range of answers.
What is a normal heart rate for a 10-11 week fetus? I bought a Doppler (and I know it's a little early) and I checked at 10w 2d and it picked up a HR of 125. It seems low to me but I'm not sure. Is there a chance that it was picking up my HR instead of the baby's and that's what I heard?
I'm sorry if this is a stupid/newb/flammable question.
The heart rate will vary due to the baby's natural awake/sleep cycles. Hope that helps
@DragonflyDreaming I missed that you're moving. With a place like Qatar, is this a military move? If so, I know there are programs that will foster military dogs that can't go with their owners on deployments and such.
Yeah, no luck on the military. My hubby is in the energy industry and it's an expat assignment. I mentioned it before but that was quite some time ago! I keep coming across good deals and such for military fosters for dogs. But we can't really make use of those. It's not even the money issue. It's more that I can't take her and that's making me sad. And if I have to leave her here, I'd want a place that she is loved and cared for. Not easy to find!
That's so awesome that you have someone as cool as Wendy near you to G2G with! There are some pretty rad ladies within reach of Chicago but that would take some organizing. Color me jealous! I'm glad it was fun and that neither of you turned out to be big hairy dudes!
I was going to be in town visiting my sister for the weekend anyhow so I figured why not make the most of it. I can confirm she is not a big hairy dude. She is a good foot taller than my sister and I though.
Hahahaha yes I forgot to mention I was sitting down when she and her sister walked up to me and when I stood up I felt like a giant lol! Wendy looked up at me and said "you are so tall". I felt bad that I wore my sandals with heels lol
So for my birthday today the universe gave me a lovely present: bleeding again! Ugh. Less than before though and the Doppler is keeping me sane (still a heartbeat). I told H I overexerted myself yesterday. He didn't believe me because we did nothing. It's frustrating how delicate I am these days.
First off: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! -insert gif cake here-
Second: Oh no! Sorry that you're bleeding again. I have read your stories but apologize that I can't remember ... do you have a SCH? Or have they figured out why it's occurring?

This sounds like you are picking up the placenta to me.
I haven't read any threads yet except what was new on yesterday's random. Today is probably going to be the slowest of all slow days. Except Christmas. That will be slower. And Thanksgiving.
Meh, anyhow, yesterday was super awesome UNTIL night time when E gave us hell going to bed. I don't know what demon replaces my sweet daughter upon bed time, but this shit needs to STOP. It has to be a phase...but it keeps going on and on and on no matter what we try. Oy vey.
But yesterday during the day we went to Providence and had a HUGE lunch at Fire and Ice (which I've been craving), and then we went to Roger Williams Park (which is the best park ever) and Eleanor went on her first carousel ride (and kept signing for more. We took her on 3 times and were both dizzy by the time we were through and she still signed for more). She got to go on a train ride too and play in the playground. Twas nice.
Today we have a cookout with family and I need to manage to get my ass to the grocery store, do the week's shopping, and come back and make pasta salad before going over. At least we aren't expected until late afternoon since E has to nap and such. But still...I don't want to move. I already meal planned, so at least that's done, and K offered to go to the store for me, but I'll probably end up going so he can paint during E's nap (we are trying SO hard to move upstairs!!!!)
Sorry that you've been having a hard time with getting your daughter to sleep lately! That's rough! I see you also mentioned that your daughter signs. I am super curious about this and was going to bring it up in a future topic later on, but since you mentioned it .... How does it work? Was it as difficult as it seems? What resources did you use? Sorry for the questions; I've always heard about it, but never have had a chance to research or interact with anyone that's done it.
@SNLT1012 I have become a lobster on many occasions. I blame my lack of common sense in not using or reapplying sunscreen, haha! But for that reason, I always have that blue aloe Vera gel (can't remember the name) but it's super cooling/wonderful. I think it has menthol in it.
I took ASL in college and was fluent until I stopped using it. We always signed some things to her but really started teaching around six months. She ends up adjusting signs slightly but in a consistent manner, so we know what they mean. She has over 50 words verbally but doesn't use a ton of them on a daily basis to communicate and some words that she knows the sign and word for she prefers to sign. Babies actually pick up on signs fairly easy and then they can use them, even when they talk a lot, because sometimes communicating is frustrating for toddlers and they might prefer to sign. E uses about 15 signs vs her 50 or so verbal words and only a few double up as of now.
Today were trying to take pictures with our Great Dane to announce on facebook, except our Toy Poodle totally showed more interest and kept jumping on the logs. Haha
Chicago folks. Someday (probably not until after baby) I will make it back out there. My grandparents are in Chicago (Well, Skokie) and we haven't seen them in about 2 years. They are turning 90 and 95 this fall so I really want to make it out there soon.
Yeah kicking my brother out has been a disaster. He's full of excuses and begging for more time. I'm just in my room crying because tough love fucking sucks.

It really does. I havent caught the back ground story with your brother but my BIL is a complete mooch and I had to stop my husband from letting him live with us multiple times when he was homeless. Also keep in mind he was homeless because he refused to work. *rolls eyes* good luck with your brother
@FrecklesInside we did sign with Ello too! I also used to be somewhat proficient in ASL. She was slow to talk and signing helped her immensely. @DragonflyDreaming We also got the baby signing time videos which irritated the hell out of me, but she really enjoyed. They recommend starting at 6 months. It's not hard at all.
We went shopping at the outlets today and I got 2 pairs of jeans and 6 shirts from gap for $100. Woot. We also totally dominated Ello's fall wardrobe. I heart Osh kosh SO much.
That's so awesome that you have someone as cool as Wendy near you to G2G with! There are some pretty rad ladies within reach of Chicago but that would take some organizing. Color me jealous! I'm glad it was fun and that neither of you turned out to be big hairy dudes!

How tall are you? I secretly love hearing about other tall women because I always feel like a giant!

She's probably totally normal sized, but I'm 5'1" and my sister is 4'11"

Oh man... I would really be a giant next to you and your sister then!!
Doppler people I have a question. Baby seems to be "running away" from the probe lol. I get the heartbeat nice and strong. Then baby moves and I can't find it. This seems normal but anyone else?

When I tried last week the same thing happened to me! I didn't think anything of it really. Just figured the baby is wiggling around in there and made me happy to think about that.
Random, I slept like crap last night thanks to a lot of distuptions. After the last one, I dreamed that I was still awake, and got a call from my OB (yes,, in the middle of the night WTF?). She called to tell me that while I wasn't having contractions, and my uterus wasn't trying to get baby out, that baby was trying to burrow his way out. She told us to for to the hospital so they could stop him. But then there was an overnight lock in kind of thing at the hospital, and we had a hard time getting through, and I ate a delicious mint chocolate brownie on the way. That's really all I remember. Strange, strange pregnancy dreams.

Yup, I picture it saying "Mah, Stop poking me I am trying to relax!". Its funny how I move the probe from one side to the other trying to get a lock on it for more than 5 seconds.
