The last four times I tried putting her down she woke up, she's asleep again but I'm afraid that if I stop holding her she'll wake up again. I've been trying to go to bed for over an hour now. It seems like any time I have a half way decent sleep (her only waking up every 3 hrs) the next night she thinks I don't need sleep at all.
Since we got home from a weekend at my Moms LO has been awful with being held. No naps at all or sleeping at night unless hes held. It doesnt matter how asleep I think he is or how long I hold him, within a minute of being in his crib, swing, pack n play, and travel crib, hes angry crying :-(
For last nights question - I don't get up for grunts and whines anymore. I find that when I did, I had a sleepy, lazy eater. I wait until it becomes full blown until I pop that bottle in. I will try to predict 2 minutes before he goes batshit so that I have time to pee, find a hair tie and prep a bottle. Some nights my predictions have me ready to rock 30 minutes early, or tonight it was too late. I had a screaming baby by the time I was ready.
LO is on night number 2 in his crib. We just decided last night that he seemed ready so we gave it a try. He's kept his same "schedule" with no additional fussiness so far. Thank you rock n play for getting me through the past few weeks!
I just let poor LO sleep longer than intended because I incorporated her cries into my dream. Poor peanut.
@kwh33ls Man! I've done that so many times on the last 7 days to DD. I feel horrible! I've actually now moved the time she wakes up due to that. Forever she would always wake up at 7:30, now it's around 9. I don't know if that's good or bad.
LO would not sleep until 2am this morning which is not that unusual but I've been trying move her bedtime earlier to change this since I have to go to the office for the first time this morning. Then she slept for 4 1/2 hours straight! First time she's slept so long! Which would be great but now she's nursing and then needs to be changed and then I'll need to pump and by the time I get back to bed it'll be 1/2 an hour til my alarm goes off. I could cry.
Omg so many of you are telling my story I barely feel the need to post.
My LO start stirring and grunting Within minutes of putting him down. During the day i can get him to take like an hour nap is the swing. Night is rough. he gets to a point were he is inconsolable. It can take anywhere from an hour to two hours.
I have decided to try one arm swaddling. Regular swaddling is a disaster he just fights and fights, no matter what. And white noise. Hopefully that will start to put him in the mindset of its sleep time.
Plus ive decided to put him down sooner than later. Than if/when he stirs pick him up soothe him some and put him back down. Holding him for a long amount of time just seems to make it worse. This is for night. I still love my sleepy cuddles during the day.
I just got peed and pooped on like 3 times. Now that we are all wide awake from that scream fest, let's see if I can feed him and all peacefully go back to sleep. FX crossed!
I'm scared for tonight. She just busted through bed time and is eating AGAIN. She slept a ton this morning despite my best efforts to get her awake. I don't think we are going to sleep tonight. (
Annaliese has been nursing on and off for the last 3 hours! I'm thinking we are having the 6 week growth spurt but a small part of me is secretly hoping she'll sleep more than 4 hours tonight since she has eaten so much....we shall see

It takes me an hour and a half to get rid of her gas after she eats. She can't fall asleep because of the gas, and once I get it out of her, she wants to eat again. Womp Womp womp...

Up for the 2nd or 3rd feeding. I can't remember. Even though the night before lastnight was crazy, and tonight's sleeping was ok, I actually feel kind of energized.
Finally got her to sleep at 11:30pm...first feeding Was at 2:30. I fell asleep after giving her the first boob...and she fell asleep on the boppy on her side...and we stayed there until 6:30!
My ass was completely numb in the chair, but we got a 4 hour stretch!
@cko521 my LO will be 4 weeks Monday and I've been dealing with the same thing all day! I can't put him down for two minutes, ugh! But i read there's a growth spurt between 2-3 weeks and another 4-6 so maybe?
I'm up but LO is asleep. I'm trying to decide what's worse, getting only an hour of sleep or just staying up. I've chosen the stay up option which I may regret.
LO won't nap today. She took an hour nap this morning, but since then, no matter what I do, she stubbornly keeps opening her eyes. I've been rocking her and jiggling and carrying. She seems to drift off, then snaps her eyes open and starts looking around. She's yawning and rubbing her eyes, so I know she's tired but she just stubbornly keeps them open. This does not bode well for tonight.
Sometimes when my LO is super fussy, it helps to swaddle him. Even if we are holding him or putting him in the swing, we will swaddle his arms and it seems to do the trick.
I know its probably just a fluke so im not getting too excited, but little AW moment, LO just slept 1030-3 (longest stretch ever) ate and went back in his crib! Yay me!
Ughh. Lo is getting worse at sleeping. Last night we were up 12:30-5 until I finally put her in her swing to sleep and tonight we've been up since 11. I go back to work Monday and I do not know how I am going to function on such little sleep.
Put LO down at 11 and she was up again at 12. I decided to try to rock her back to sleep and she finally went back down at 12:45. She just woke back up at 4:45! Yay for sleep!
DS had been sleeping 4 hour stretches all week. Tonight he's back to 2 hours. The difference? DH usually hangs out with him after the 10:00 feeding, but I'm with him tonight. I wonder if it's because he can smell me. Or maybe it's because he went 3 hours between feedings all day yesterday for the first time ever. Or maybe he just likes to he inconsistent and throw his mother for a loop just when we start to get a good nighttime thing going. Booooo.
I'm trying to put LO on a routine, I am trying the EASY method but day 1 sucked. She slept pretty much all day, I had to wake her for every feed and I couldn't do 'activity' for more than 15 minutes without her falling asleep. Keeping a tired baby awake is nearly impossible. She finally became ultra alert in the evening but then when she was tired she wouldn't fall asleep. So I had a crying/screaming baby. My DH didn't help the situation, he keeps insisting I let her cry it out. I finally yelled at him and said if crying it out was going to work she would be asleep. (She had been screaming on and off for two hours at that point no matter what I did). I finally got her to calm down by giving her more boob, I gave her a bath, sang to her and held her until she fell asleep. I then 'dreamfed' her at 10:30 and she woke up at 2:30. So I got a little bit of sleep. I'm hoping tomorrow goes a little better.
LO gave me a glorious 4-1/2 hours before the 1st feeding, but now she won't go back to sleep. Going on 2 hours of falling asleep in my arms then waking up as soon as she is put down. Ugh.
The longest stretch I've gotten since hitting the 6 week growth spurt on Thursday is 3 hours when I used to get 5. After the first stretch, LO takes forever to go back down and usually wakes up 30 min to an hour later (just enough time for me to fall into a deep sleep before getting woken up). After the second motn feeding, she won't sleep in her crib at all. I'm dying here. I'm more than ready for this growth spurt to be over to say the least.
Sheesh! I hope your nights get better! My LO just slept 6 hours! I could get used to this. I hope she continues with this.
I had my 2nd PP check up today. I have a spot that is taking forever to heal so she used silver nitrate and wow, I would would rather give birth than go through that again. I went to bed at 8 just to escape the pain. I feel a lot better now. Just wish I would finally be healing!
@Nichole8787 if you google moms on call there is a video of them swaddling a baby and it's just a little bit different than the normal swaddle but ever since I've swaddled their way I have had a super happy baby. Maybe it will work for you too? Hopefully your LO sleeps soon.
LO will NOT sleep today. I decided to track her sleeping today because I can tell she has been overtired late at night during her screaming sessions and she barely got 11-12 hours in the last 24. She just stares at me awake. Swing, bouncer, swaddle.....nothing works for very long at all. I'm hoping this is a phase.

I started a slightly different nightly routine and so far dd is not okay with it. Crossing my fingers that it works to my benefit at least.
