This 6 week growth spurt is no joke. My normal 10 minute nursing sessions every 3 hours is now 45 minutes long with almost an hour between sessions. She also seems to have been on a nap strike all day. So help me.
We are on the 4 week growth spurt. He nursed for 40-50 minutes every hour and a half and was fussy and only slept maybe an hour throughout the whole day. However he just slept 4 glorious hours and this is one happy momma. I'm hoping he does it again but not banking on it since he's usually a 3 hour sleeper. Until the next feeding...
PLEASE go to sleep DS. I was up with him until 1 and then he started fussing at 3, which was DH's turn but he was draging ass. So i lay back down, finally, at 330 and then at 346 they are back in the bedroom changing clothes due to spit up. I go back to sleep and at 442 i wake up to DS fussing and DH was taking a bath. A BATH! DS has not gone back to sleep yet
I take my not sleeping comments back. She slept from 1 until 7:30! I almost felt bad when I looked at the clock, but I guess she knows what she's doing. I also know this will probably never happen again. Ha.
Dying. Usually DS is a good sleeper... last night he went 9-1, ok great but then was up until 3, back up at 4. Finally pulled him into bed with me after our 4 am feed because he wasn't having being in the crib... then proceeded to stir every 30 minutes or so and woke up at 645 and has been up since then... this after a not so great night two nights ago. Mommas tired =[
Omfg what else does this boy want!! Nursed me dry tonight, clean diaper, comfy temp, not rocking not walking not laying down not the swing not anything!! Ahhhhhhhhh
Gave DH night shift duty tonight from 9pm to 6am. It'll be the first time since we've had her (5.5 weeks) that I'm having him help out in the MOTN. I still have to get up to pump, but not having to feed and pump is going to get me some extra Zs!!!
Add another to the list for screaming all day, ive tried everything. The only time hes happy is when he finally falls asleep after fighting it for hours
@TexasGirl81 My LO is six weeks tomorrow. Growth spurt? We normally have fussy time from about 8-10pm but nothing like this tonight. He is resting now so please keep your fingers crossed
We've had a gassy fussy baby too. DH usually takes him after the 7 pm feeding but he wad screaming and dh just gave up and put him down to scream. Really? Broke my heart so I rocked and sang him to sleep. Been out for an hour now. We'll see how long it lasts. Let's hope I can get some shut eye too.
Firt feeding, but before i fed DS i changed his diaper and as soon as i went to pull it up he peed everywhere, got another diaper wiped him off with a wipe (bath time in the morning) changed his pjs nursed him and then had to rush to the bathroom after putting him back in his crib because i woke up with some horrible stomach ache.
1. 1am sucks for random pee spraying 2. Taking care of a 4 1/2 week old alone when youre sick totally blows 3. Tonight i have a feeling, is going to be a long night..
My nights have been Hellish for weeks now. DD would sleep from 10-2 and then would wake gassy and grunting in pain. After I'd feed her, I'd have to hold her for at least another hour before she'd sleep, then she'd be back to squirming in pain crying about an hour later, usually 4-6am. I usually would have to walk around with her in my arms to calm her down. Then no sleep until about 10 am when I'd be too shot to do more than lay on the couch.
I tried Similac Advanced, then Similac Sensitive, then Enfamil Gentlesse, FINALLY I switch to Good Starts Soothe, two days ago after not just gas, but constipation and silent reflux (a clear droolish spit up, I could hear her gurgling after putting her down).
Last night went better than past nights, but tonight is AMAZING! She woke with just a tiny cry at 230, I fed and changed her and she went right back to sleep, and in the co sleeper, instead of in my bed!
I don't know what to do with my free time, except post in this thread since I cannot get back to sleep! I'm so hoping the trend continues and I found the right formula for her!
I'm a special snowflake!

I'm trying not to LOL and wake my baby, but @eadams08 was your dh really taking a bath at like 4am while he was supposed to be on baby duty? I'm sorry to laugh, bc you had to be pissed, but the idea just seems so ridiculously funny. A BATH at 4am while relieving you so you can sleep! Ha!
After a terrible start to the night of hours of fussy and fighting sleep he slept from 11-4:30! Ate, fussy and fought sleep again and is finally back asleep at 5:15!
So we had another almost 6 hour stretch until I woke up with the dilemma of waking her up to eat or going to pump to relieve my boobs. After a 15 minute debate I decided to feed her. She was asleep but making a lot of grunting noises and I knew it would be only a matter of time before she woke up anyway. I guess we will see if this was a smart decision or not....hopefully she will pass out again when she is done.
I just know this won't last long, but LO slept for 6 hours straight! At this point he's sleeping better than my 1 year old. Boobs are hard as a rock. Ahhh!
@cko521 i have the same problem. DS will start screaming for a bottle the minute he wakes up. He gives me like 30 seconds in advance before the meltdown happens
Gas in my LO: Red face Curls up legs Latches on long enough to toot then wants off the boob. Is perfectly fine then BAM, screaming and instant hysteria
It could be just one of these, a few or all of them. I give her the gas relief drops I got from the Kroger. If she stops freaking out, I learn if it is a gas issue or not.
We try burping, bicycling her legs, and bouncing first then drops.
Just finished our first feeding and I rolled out my get baby to sleep fast trifecta: swaddle, swing, sound (white noise app). She was getting unreasonable which tells me she's overtired. Now just waiting until she's Ina deep enough sleep so I can love her. Oh, and it my birthday! So, you know DD, a wonderful gift would be a nice solid 5 hours, just saying.
She just slept from 9:30 - 2:30! I should have gone to sleep right away... but at least I got from 11:30 - 2:30...here's hoping she sleeps until at least 6 now!
10-250?! Longest stretch so far and already changed, fed, and back in his crib! Maybe he knows his momma doesn't feel good? Back to bed, hopefully this extra sleep helps feeling like crap
I was hoping the two nights in a row of almost 6 hour stretches was the start if something....but, I'm not that lucky. Only a 2 1/2 hour stretch and she's up an hungry. It will be interesting to see what tonight has in store considering she didn't start sleeping until 1:30am. I predict lots of naps for me tomorrow.
He technically slept through the night. Its 530 AM which is when I will wake up after I go back to work next week. This week... were going down for more sleep :-)
This is with me on the recliner though. In his crib he made it a whole half hour until meltdown that is also progress!
Not sure why but it totally cut 90% of my comment out...wtf!! Lol
So I was saying DS slept 9-2....say whaaat!! It was great other then the crazy storm we had about 10 that woke up DS 1 who then was scared and got in bed with us. Then he wakes back up about 12 and I took him back to his bed. DS 2 was diagnosed with reflux on Friday and had his first dose of Zantac Friday evening. Could that be get he slept so well? He was back asleep by 2:30 after nursing and diaper change and I'm pumping to relieve myself. Fingers crossed!
