Took my aluminum cans to the recycler. 1. You have to present state issued photo ID. 2. You have to give electronic thumb print. 3. You have to sign for it. WTF? I now feel like a social deviant for recycling.

Listen how painfully awkward I am. I am so self conscious about meeting new people because I always wind up looking stupid, ALWAYS. last night we had a neighborhood get together and it was the first time I have gotten to meet any of our new neighbors and I was really nervous because I knew I'd at some point have an Ashley moment. So that morning I got a massage. It felt so good that I only kind of noticed she had long nails. We ran around too long that day for me to really get ready for the party so I had to try to look as decent as possible and squeeze my fat ass into a dress. On the way out the door my daughter noticed that I had scratches all over my back! It looked like I had had some seriously crazy nasty-ass sex or something! I didn't have time to change but I hoped most of my hair would cover it (it didn't, not even close). We were there for about thirty minutes and things were going really well and everyone was really nice, I probably didn't say TOO many stupid things then BAM the damn skies open up and it starts pouring!! Not like a light rain that gets harder, it's straight up goddamned waterfall. According to my dear children, my makeup starting pooling down my face immediately and kind of went in a direction under my nose and chin like a FUCKING BEARD. When I got into my house, I had more mascara on my face than I could even put on my eyes. I don't know where it all even came from. So, there's my Ashley moment. ALWAYS an Ashley moment. Gah, at least I didn't vomit on somebody this time. Yup, it's actually happened before.

It has been since high school for me, so two decades, and it is all of my hair, not just my bangs.

@mamrotu73‌ I would kill to be able to put dd in the swing again but my mother and DH heard the pediatrician say that it's a "bad habit" and freak out when I say I'm going to.

Never mind that she barely sleeps an hour in the crib during the day but when I put her in the swing on Friday I had to wake her up at three hours....

OMFG just finished an epic 1 1/2 hour battle to get DS down for a nap. He's so freakin' tired. Not how I wanted to spend my last day of maternity leave. @mamrotu73 I read your post after I sat down and was this close to putting DS in his swing because he kept rolling onto his stomach too!

I cleaned the porch! All by my onesies! So tomorrow I will be working on the drive way and then slowly make my way toward and into the garage. This is my goal for the month. I am tired of living in hillbilly hell. MIL had the nerve to ask me who helped. FU I did it myself while watching 2 kids!

I just feel badly that I'm not enjoying DS like I should on this last day because it's been so much work getting him to nap.

I hope daycare is better for your LO tomorrow! I'm glad you are feeling better about things after talking to the director and her teacher.

So um, the ice bucket challenge is a bunch of folks AWing that they would rather dump ice on their head than donate to charity? Or... Am I missing the actual altruism here?

The choice is to do either, though most people do both. By dumping ice water over your head and posting it to social media, you spread the word and challenge others to do the same. I think it is stupid, but it is certainly working at increasing the donations to ALSA. They have gotten over $4M since the challenge started on 7/31, a huge increase over last year. My uncle passed away from ALS, so I'm happy to see it getting more attention.

Yeah, this. It's kind of brilliant actually. Who doesn't have a social media account these days? It's a good way of getting the attention of those who might not otherwise be involved with charity. And as far as charity goes, if you can expand your constituency even a little bit, then you're doing what you set out to do. I do think it feeds on narcissism a bit ("Hey, look at me being charitable!") but if it works and it's for a good cause then I'm not going to split hairs over that aspect of it.

How is it that I'm too busy on vacation to bump? Blows my mind. Bought running shoes today in my hometown from a kid who thinks he knows running. I haven't talked about it much here but I'm kind of a running...eh...legend/guru/big deal all sound so obnoxious. Let's just say that Spokane turns out some great long distance runners and I'm one of them from like, 10 years ago. Point of this uncomfortable bragging is that it was hecka nice to be recognized for something else other than a mom.

Does that make me a bad mom?

Vinny, all of those animals are amaze balls. I'm super jealous. Edolie, I'm officially always going to take the center piece of cake from now on. I can't wait to be invited to the awkward coleslaw wedding.

The news said that the money raised for ALS has increased tenfold this year. The ice bucket challenge was a brilliant idea and I'm sure other organizations are wondering how to start their own viral social media fundraiser.

Looks like all be doing more "toddler proofing" once DD1 goes to bed. I'm running out of places to hide/stash stuff that she can't get too. Also I have a round cabinet in my BR, regular child locks have yet to fit it, I have tried many brands. Any ideas?
