@pippacricket I never said that all PP's were going to raise their children to take advantage of the government or irresponsible.

I stated that I may not be able to change anyone's opinion on this board but all we (as in everyone) can do is raise their children to be responsible people who do not abuse the system.

@ghostmonkey I also never called all people on assistance a "piece of shit." You can look at my post history to confirm that if you really deem necessary. I gave several instances in which I know people who abuse the system. I never said everyone abused it, I said some. Those people who do take advantage of it are the ones that I do think deserve to be kicked off.

It seems to be a trend on this thread that when someone agrees with the OP that their words get twisted to make them sound like they hate all people who are on welfare or want their kids to go hungry which is simply not the case.

I wasn't trying to be snarky either. I honestly didn't and still don't understand how or why you thought the government is abusing people? I think our government as it stands today supports as many people as it can... Too many people probably.

So I am truly looking for some clarification as to how the government isn't taking care of it's people.

No you're just not being very clear. In the post I initially quoted you on (I'm mobile so I can't go back to get it verbatim) you said to Nikki "WE can't change their opinions...all WE can do is raise our children...blah blah" the way you wrote it, made it sound like you were talking about just you two (and others that agree with you). Then you back-peddled when I asked about what you said.

I do think that in ways we are being taken advantage of (ex. taxes, socialistic policy, etc.) but I have no clue how you are relating it to this thread.

The OP was talking about people who use the system. So how does that directly relate to government assistance abusing people? Wouldn't it do the opposite and prove that the government is taking care of people... maybe too many people in my personal opinion.. but nonetheless taking care of them.

@sassypantzz I agree with you about the reliability of studies. Although they are done by wonderful, upstanding people and organizations how do we know they are reliable. If I was someone taking advantage of the system, and I didn't want to loose my aid, I sure as heck would think about lieing on a survey that asked if I was using it correctly.

The aid is still available right? They can get another interview, am I wrong? I don't think they are abusing people by being disorganized. I don't think that is a good situation and of course it's hard on those people but they can still get another opportunity to interview or apply.

Sorry for my misreading.

I don't know how long it takes for another interview either. But I do know it is still available. So they could still reapply, just maybe not exactly when they would like to. While they wait there are CHP programs for child health care, food pantries, etc.

My point is:
The government provides lots of assistance in numerous programs.

People can apply to them. Some people abuse them.

The people who abuse them should be kicked off it.

Maybe they should have more case workers checking for abuse of the system. (That the Feds deem abuse of the system)

In my eyes abuse of the system is:
-Spending welfare money on non essential items
-not providing for their children with the money
-not attempting to get a job if on unemployment
-leaving kids in child care when not at work or looking for a job
-collecting disability if not truly disabled (is capable of doing some form of work)
-using federal pell grants or federal scholarship/school money (not loans) on things other than school items

@AnnaTTCat32‌ I do see where you are coming from. I am torn as to which I think would be more productive the support programs or the welfare cops. I just think something of that nature should happen to attempt to fix it a little bit.

Also, if we implement programs to get people off assistance through supports those people must be motivated and willing to do so. I'm not sure system abusers would be, but it may be worth a shot.

@etoille‌ I am saying let's agree to disagree because this discussion is going nowhere. I am all for debate and I agree with some of the things you have said. But being snarky and judge mental about one another's opinions over an Internet forum is getting us nowhere.

You think you have all the answers too. No one does. I'm all for compromise. But one party can't think that their ideas are completely better than the others. I've never said that my ideas were better in any of my posts. I just simply have another opinion then some other people on the board. It doesn't mean I'm not willing to compromise a little.
