My mom is staying with us this week, and she's taking care of feeding K right now while I pump. We try to keep the MOTN feedings as quiet and uneventful as possible, but she's been carrying on a running commentary the whole time. Thought about saying something, but IDGAF; she's going to have to put her back to sleep. Bonus--I was planning on folding laundry while I pumped, but got downstairs to find that magic little elves had already taken care of it. Considering asking my mom to move in with us for the next few months. Seems extreme; better wait until I'm fully conscious to explore further...
Just realized it is 3:30am and I just got LO to sleep with me NOT holding her.. I have been awake since 6:30am Monday morning. No sleep at all. I have to be up at 9am to get blood work done because of the GD I had while pregnant. Husband just got home from work.. I asked if I could go to bed.. He got all upset saying he wanted to take a shower.. SO GET OFF YOUR EFFING PHONE AND GO TAKE A SHOWER SO I CAN SLEEP AND YOU CAN HELP TAKE CARE OF YOUR DAUGHTER!!
Oh yes. And of course I started my period yesterday morning as well.
Charlie woke up screaming like he had never been fed before. Got up, made four ounces of formula...the little pisser fell asleep after one and a half!! What a waste. I tried all my keeping awake tricks and he's not having it.
I have another screamer over here. Ughh i hate these nights. There is nothing wrong with her she is just screaming. Husband isnt getting off until 4am so thats about 13 hours with me and her screaming alone. When is it socially acceptable to pull out your hair?! Im so tired. My arms are sore from non stop holding her to try and keep her to sleep because she wakes up when I set her down.
And I am reeeallllyyyy sick of people asking when we are going to have the next kid!!! Its like you get married and they automatically ask "when you having kids?" The moment after the ceremony.. This goes on for the 4 years you are married and then you get pregnant, have a kid and the next day "when are your plans for more?" Its like stfu!!
LO keeps waking up screaming because she somehow turns herself 90 degrees in the MOTN (while swaddled) and her head is hitting the slats of the bed. Any suggestions on what to do about this?
Max is bright eyed and bushy tailed with lots of smiles right now. I know it could be worse (he could be inconsolable or such) but I would still like to go back to sleep now.
Ugh LO woke up crying because she didnt have the passi in her mouth.. Just spent the last 30min sitting next to her putting it back in every time she spit it out because she would cry. Fun games tonight. It is now 3am I got an hour of sleep yay! Hopefully DH comes home before her next feeding =\
At aprox what age does this get easier?! I feel like it is never going to =[
This is the first time on my laptop in forever and you guys have some freaking hilarious siggy challenge pics!
On sleep deprived note, I'm flucking tired. I'm at the point where I have to pump every 3 hours at night or else I'm super engorged/leaking all over the place. So if I get up to pump at midnight that means I have to get up and pump at 3am. Throw in the fact that pumping takes 30 mins and that usually in that three hour block a baby decides to wake up that means that I'm getting an hour and a half of sleep here and there most nights. SO TIRING.
@elsa1688 i tried but she doesnt like to be held on your chest lol. So she just cries the whole time until you cradle her again. She even gets mad at what arm you are cradling her on. Its pretty redic lol
I would so love to give up my MOTN pumping session. Baby has been down since 9pm and it's now 1 45. Hoping we can make it to 6 30 so I can get some solid shut eye. I did a power pump before bed, so I feel exhausted. Oh and plus also, I have thrush so I'm washing and sterilising parts likes there's no tomorrow - all day, everyday.
Two major accomplishments tonight, LO slept from 9:40 to 1:50 (a little over 4 hours!) And I just got 3oz out of one boob. Both are a first for us, CHEAH!
I gave C an extra ounce before bed hoping that it'd buy me extra sleep. Nope. This kid is like a clock. Every 3 hours he needs to eat. Shouldn't he start going longer stretches?! H needs to set up the monitor in his room so we can try his crib.
I just wanna say that my kid was three hours on the dot until randomly this week she's gone five and six hours. So there is hope. Without warning it will happen.
This! I'm getting a consistent 6-7 hours from her each night. She used to eat every 3 hours on the dot no matter what time of day, but now she is eating every 2-3 hours throughout the day and sleeping at night. I initially tried to "top her off" right before bed, but that didn't work for us either. I've mentioned this before, but one night, I did a MOTN diaper change when I noticed she was stirring; didn't give her time to fully wake up. She went right back to sleep with no feeding and she hasn't had a MOTN feeding since then. Something just clicked in her, I guess.
I've been lurking other BMB's and it looks like some babies just never drop the MOTN feeding through the first year. (yikes)
I have also heard that there is a 4 month wakeful period or sleep regression, so as soon as the babies make progress in their sleep, it will probably be all messed up.
This is my fear. 3 months old and still 2-4 hr stretches.
Out of curiosity, those who still have babies waking often, are they sleeping in your room? My nephew woke up like that for ages, like 18 months, and it was because he could smell her milk. Once she moved him and broke the habit, he sttn.
My girls are still waking up every 2-4 hours at 2 months old We had them in our room with us the past month or so and we've slowly been moving them to their room. Last night was their first full night in their nursery and they were still up every 2-3 hours.
@CAMag what do your shifts look like? We used to do 6 hour shifts when we were both off work but now hubby's gone back and I go back next month. He wants to do 6pm-12am, 12am-6am. The thought of going to bed at 6pm is a little depressing to me.

Interesting point. We're on the every 3 hours schedule. She sleeps next to the bed in a RnP. I'll have to test your theory.
We had DD in our room in the RNP up until about 2 weeks ago when we moved her into her own room. It didn't make any difference in the way she slept but hopefully it will for others!
