My brain is playing a new trick on me! I swear I hear LO starting to stir, then I dream that I get up, change, feed, and get her back to sleep... Then just as dream me crawls back into bed and lays her head down, real me wakes up to LO crying and ready to eat! It's so frustrating because my dream is so real, so it's like I'm constantly up since I've had this dream a lot... I just want some quality, peaceful sleep!!!
I have dreams about breastfeeding and besides waking up wet sometimes, I also wake up in a panic because I think I've fallen asleep while feeding him. I'll be looking around in the bed for him and ask DF where he is. He'll tell me "he's sleeping..." like I'm an idiot.
@SarahS11@puttyeast@Hollyselby I always dream I'm breast feeding him! I wake up confused and I have to check the app I use to log his feedings to double check!
@babygabe614@spittler2 we tend to have the same issue, he goes to bed easily at 9/10 and wakes up at 3/4 and I put him back down but he's awake 2 hours later wanting to be cuddled. However it's not an a real problem because in Sept when I go back to work and he's in daycare we're going to have to be up by 5:30/6 so we can leave by 7.
We've been going through a terrible witching time from 5pm until late morning. LO just wasn't satiated and could BF for hours or cluster feed. So we also introduced a bottled of pumped milk at night (DH's feeding) but again she would be very hard to put down and would cry her face up. Was able to start pumping 4 oz and she was chugging it back like nobodies business. started making 2 oz. of formula as backup. Today we gave her the 2 oz after her early evening feeding. What a dream she was happy and playful for 30 min and then concked out for a little over 4 hours. Fed her normally again after and she slept through the night (almost). And when she's feeding she's been consistently latched. Maybe because I have more milk built up? I dunno but she seems happy and I hope this wasn't a fluke.
Anyone else get hot flashes/nausea while nursing, especially at night? Its getting worse. dh said I feel cold to the touch but oh my goodness I am so fucking hot. I really only notice it at night, so I'm not sure if its nursing or night time...its just weird and I Get all tingly and weak when it happens so j get nervous about lifting the baby.
Eta: Dr. Google says most likely dehydration and potentially low blood sugar. Off to chug some juice...
@Lilygrace48 i experienced that during pregnancy. I wouldn't pick up LO at that time because the hot flash and tingly feeling precedes passing out if you dont sit or chill out for a second. Mine was low iron, but it could definitely be low blood sugar.
lol I am getting to the point where I get excited for MOTN feedings because I get to come to a community of moms that just understand and that I have journeyed with for the last 10-11 months and we know more about each other then our SO probably does hahahaha..
Welcome to another night mamas! hope everyone is doing well during these weeeeeeee hours =]

yessss I got that a lot towards the end with my GD! My blood sugar ended up dropping to a 47! BE CAREFUL! I get them now and it has caused me a couple seizures when I stand. If you feel light headed just lay on the ground, seriously don't try to run to the couch or bed. My hot flashes caused me to sweat and shake so bad, its such a yucky feeling then I would get dizzy. such a mess! keep juice and water on hand at all times. Maybe even stash some candy by where you feed or in every room that you can eat if you feel that way! I hope things get better for you! I know the heat makes it worse too!
Just kicked DH. He made a big deal this evening about wanting to get me more sleep. So what is currently happening in our household? W is eating so I'm up and DH is snoring. So yep, I kicked him. No more snoring for now.
H keeps making comments about how he has offered to do the first feeding so I can get a decent stretch, but has never actually gotten up to do it. I said something to him about it and apparently since he "doesn't hear" the baby, I'm supposed to wake him up. So I have to wake up anyway. Pointless.
D has slept a 7 hour stretch (8-3) for 2 nights in a row now. I'm sure it's just that he's tired due to his shots but man oh man is it nice to sleep.
Heard LO grunting so I got up for her first MOTN feed. I woke up a little when I heard DH bring her in and put her in the travel crib at the foot of the bed. He has her in a swaddleme with a big A&A burp/bib around her neck. (I started putting her in bibs yesterday for spit up.) He must have had to do the happiest baby on the block techniques after the bottle because otherwise we never swaddle. Her little hand poked through the bottom.
She chugged the bottle earlier, by the way, and he mentioned that maybe we should intro formula to supplement at night because she cluster feeds and fusses/cries and seems constantly unsatisfied at the boob during those times. I guess I will ask my Pediatrician. So many of you seem to have success with doing that and getting sleep.
Also, she bf'd for only 15 minutes just now and is back in the crib asleep. Who's baby is this?! Is this her birthday gift to me?! Wait she is figeting...
B did a 5.5 hour stretch tonight and went back down easily after chugging 5 oz so I should be going back to sleep now right? wrong. I decided to open the mail and we got a letter from our HOA that our outdoor blinds on our balcony are against the rules and we have to take them down 1) they have been here since we moved in and have been down for over a year why is this now an issue? and 2) I read the governing docs and absolutely NOWHERE does it say we can't have outdoor blinds. the only thing I can gather is it says you can't enclose your porch which one set of outdoor blinds on one side of the balcony definitely doesn't do. I am so agitated and can't sleep. I hate where we live, I want to move.
C slept so well today and we thought that better naps were giving us better nights. But not tonight. He's been awake from 9pm to 12:30am now either eating or crying to eat. He is showing sleepy cues but is fighting it hard. Maybe we are getting into his first leap...
I haven't been able to go to sleep before 3 a.m. at all this week. Literally, every. Single. Night. DH managed to get DS1 to bed early tonight and while doing so, he passed out too. I managed to give DS2 a quick bath and nursed him before trying to go to bed. Just as I'm about to fall asleep around 12:30, DS1 wakes up... and is still wide awake 2 and a half hours later. Wtaf. My children must hate me. And so must my husband because he woke up to "help me", but apparently his idea of help is getting DS1 a bottle and going back to sleep. I'm so tired I could cry.
Decided to get up and pump after both feedings tonight instead of just one. Dh gets first feeding so I figure that'll be the easiest for me since all I have to do is pump and go back to bed. Nope. DH feeds LO and plops her back in her crib assuming she'll just go to sleep and as soon as I'm back upstairs I can see on the monitor that she's wide awake and still hungry. And of course DH magically fell deep asleep already so guess who ends up warming and feeding her a second bottle? Now I'm up for #2 after only about 2 hrs in between... please, baby...go back to sleep after this one.
2:30 here. I'm engorged and hadn't pumped since 9 so 30 mins later here I am in my living room pump station. I can hear DD rustling in the bedroom and I'm thinking DH had ear plugs in (his new thing apparently lol).
I'll be kicking him for sure. I know he goes to work in the morning while I stay home but 1) I don't get to nap during the day, my job of taking care of the twins is demanding and 2) my job at night is to pump so I have food for our babies; his job can be to feed said babies.
Every hour and a half to two hours again tonight. I'm going to lose my damn mind if this doesn't change soon. Anyone else still in this camp? When does it start getting better? So. Tired.
The last two days DH slept in till after 10 am while I got up with LO. After I yelled at him yesterday morning and told him how tired I am he agreed to let me sleep in this morning. Well guess who had a cup of regular coffee last night without thinking and didn't fall asleep till 4....DH. I'm so irritated right now I could scream.
Poor DH has to deal with LO's meltdowns and my meltdowns. I was crying at 10 because I was so tired so he said he would take care of the wee babe. I got to sleep from 10-3, soo nice except that it messes up my pumping schedule but I don't really care that much, sleeping was more important.
@rachelnjacob gkad to know I'm not alone. I feel bAdly because I may have said the baby needs to stfu and cried out of sheer exhaustion. He got up less than two hours after the last feeding so I just put him on my chest and he slept for 3 hours. Ps Rachel I love that meme
LO is 10 weeks old and I definitely thought I must be doing something wrong, but some babies just having figured it out yet. Some day we will get a little more sleep... Hang in there ladies. At least we aren't alone!
Am I the only person that has a problem with becoming a night feeder themselves. I can't help it, I am always hungry when I wake up for night feedings and I can't fall back asleep until I eat something which usually is junk since it is fast and easy. I have a really sensitive stomach and this random eating is totally messing me up. Any tips to wean myself?
@SecondTimeinMSU Ditto @nutmegs8. I keep sliced apples and PB, Kashi bars, Dry roasted peanuts, fruit, greek yogurt etc on hand since I am always hungry at at least one of my MOTN feedings/pumping sessions (I'm up twice during the night - at 1am and 4am). Having healthy snacks already cut/peeled/etc and accessible makes it a lot easier to avoid thr bad stuff. Good luck!
Not the motn yet, but lo went down at 915 and I was pumped thinking he'd sleep longer w that whole sleep begets sleep thing. Nope up at 1130 w exploding poop. Ugh. It's gonna be a long night.
Random musing...I've noticed I pretty much always feed the girls their bottles with my right hand. Am I going to cause some sort of issue always turning their necks in the same direction?

He still should have gotten up with the baby. I wouldn't have let him off the hook and I hope you didn't.

@jaybee11 in the book I am reading about baby brain development (Bright From the Start) the author recommends switching sides when bottle feeding. She says it's similar to breastfeeding and could possibly be a reason why BF babies score slightly higher on IQ down the road. Switching sides helps the baby's brain hemispheres form connections to each other which is good for brain development. (although she states that no studies have been done on the impact of switching sides while eating).

We notice that better naps get us better nights too. We were trying to keep him awake quite a bit during the day, but he ended up getting over stimulated one day and only slept 4 hrs one night. Now we do at least two good sized naps during the day sometimes even 3 good ones and he'll give us 7-8 hrs at night
No MOTN for us, LO slept from 11-6!!! My boobs are exploding but we slept great except for a call from the on call service at 1:30am (DH was on home call) some lady wanted meds for a uti without being seen by a doc, no no lady sorry. I feel so rested!
We are on night #3 of a solid 6-7 hour stretch. He's been sleeping 8/8:30-2:30/3:00. I feel amazing! In hopes of continuing this, I have been making sure to do the EXACT same bedtime routine. Who knows if I'm nuts or not, but so far so good.

We do the same thing. Repeat everything EXACTLY as we did the night before in hopes of it not being a fluke. The past three nights he's slept from 10-4!!
DS2 slept from 10pm-3am so I got 5 hours of sleep. I felt so great waking up at the MOTN feeding. Then he decided he was going to grunt the rest of the night since he needed to get some gas/poop out but couldn't. He sleeps in the room next door but it still was enough to keep waking me up. So you win some you lose some. He did a great stretch like this last friday and saturday night so I am hoping we are ever so slowly moving in the right direction. fingers crossed
I am ridiculously jealous of those of you who got sleep last night. DS Went down at 915 which I was pretty pumped about. Got up at 1145, didn't go back to sleep until after 2, got up an hour and a half later after grunting and kicking for half an hour. Rinse and repeat. Finally got out of bed with DH who was getting ready for work and LO decided to start cluster feeding. H is only a month old as of yesterday. Didn't somebody mention week 5 is a wonderweek and week 6 a growth spurt? That may be what's happening. My mom and DH are tryign to tell me he won't sleep because he's used to napping on me or being held..
68-72 is WAAAY to cold for me!! I keep the house between 81 and 83 and she has been perfectly fine! Not too cold and not too hot. Her whole body is at a normal temp. The house gets to about 76-78 at night and thats when her hands and feet get cold... Winter is going to be "fun" lol
My baby slept 10 hours...I didn't, I was too worried she wasn't breathing or something and in awe. I just kept going and staring at her, she never pooped so I didn't bother her. I bet she's a terror today.
