So @kyliedaniellexx you haven't love tit'd this yet but I'm going to assume you will because I think I remember you mentioning way back (in my lurking days) that you and your FI met through an online game - and I want to know the story!
It has been lovetitted!
We met through an online game, yes we met and played together a while, talking in game and on the voice communication program we all used. One day randomly had a conversation on skype, I still have no idea how it originated. Talked for hours and every day after that as well. After about a year of talking morning til night, falling asleep talking on skype etc he convinced me to come visit. I was going through the roughest part of my life thus far and he was all that was keeping me going. So I got on a bus and off I went on a 600 mile adventure. I had the time of my life visiting for 2 weeks and left heartbroken that I had to go. After a few months at home the distance was killing me and we started making plans for me to come down for good. Short time later and here I am... and now we're expecting a baby and he's about to become my secret husband! I guess it's funny how things work out...
That is such a great story! DH and I actually met the same way playing an online game, I could have used your story and changed the bus trip of 600 miles to a plane trip of just over 3000 miles but everything else is right on. I am glad this worked out for you both!!!
He took me to a nice restaurant under the premise of celebrating a promotion at work. I like to tell him I gave him the perfect opening to propose. There was this elderly couple sitting a few tables away and they were just so sweet so I asked him "Do you think that will be us in 50 years?" To which he replied, "I'll let you decide." And then he got down on one knee and proposed! :x
ETA: Forgot quote marks!
Awwww! I just got chills! That is so sweet @uncharted01!
@lisaren AWESOME thread. I love titted but don't have time to stick around after making it though all 8 pages! It is so great to learn about you ladies.
@lizzielu82 we are moving back to SF (from San Diego) at the end of the month and I feel the exact same way about having kids in the city, our longterm goal is East Bay.
edit because autocorrect changed titted to tired.
TTC 3/2012; IUI 2/26/14; EDD 11/23/14; DD born 11/21/14!!!
@scarlet3egonias - what scares you about trying to run long distances yourself?
I'm not particularly scared. I've just never really been successful at it. My husband is a runner and does lots of 5k/10k and has done a few 1/2 marathons. I'm much better off cheering on the sidelines
@absolutelymaybe If this is too invasive or dumb, feel free to tell me to shut it.
I know you guys went with IVF, which I think is the neatest thing ever. Were you awake for the procedure and if so did you get to watch the procedure on a monitor? I have seen the youtube vids of it and it amazes me. I just can't imagine the feels of seeing and going through that.
No, neither invasive or dumb! It's actually kind of a cool process (sucks to have to go through, yes, but technology rocks!) When they retreived my eggs, I was put out (which, thank God, because who would want to feel a needle being jabbed through their vaginal wall). I surprisingly didn't have a lot of pain when I woke up (I know a lot do). It was actually kind of funny, the first words to my DH were "Those motherf******!" (in reference to them taking my eggs -- yeah crazy post-op delirium). I'm hoping they didn't hear me.
When it came time to do our embryo transfer (putting the embryos back in me), the doctor asked us how many we wanted to transfer. They gave us a pic of the thawed embryos and then took me back to the OR where I had to sit on a table w/ the bottom piece that would normally be where my butt was removed and my legs up in really high "holders." On a TV screen, they showed me my petri dish with the embryos and then the doctor got to work. I didn't get to see the doctor put them in (I think it might've been on the screen, but I was too focused on not peeing myself since I had to do this w/ a full bladder) to care. It honestly felt like a prolonged pap exam. When he said "They're in there!" I was like, "Really!? Cool! NowcanIgopeeplease!!!???"
I think I've posted this before, but here's a pic of our embyos (I called them Max and Caroline at the time).
N14 Nov. Siggy: CELEBRATION!
TTC since 2011
Aug. - Sept. 2013 - dIUIs = BFNs
January 2014 - IVF = 3 freezer babies
March 2014 - FET of AA and AB blast = BFP! Twins!
Nov. 7, 2014 - Wilhelmina "Willa" Suzanne (4lb 14oz) and Ari Jose (6lb 4oz) were born via CS
@absolutelymaybe - Have you thought about the idea of a "leash" for your kiddos when they're running off in opposite directions in a crowded place? My MIL used to use one on my hubs and his twin when they went to the airport - funniest thing ever.
LOL! You know, I was totally one of those judgy "Ohmygod you have a baby on a leash!" people until I got pregnant and actually thought about the practicality of it and how it totally makes sense. I can see a leash in our future, except they might start running around in circles and tie me up with it (kind of like our dogs do).

@Celticlass6 - you mentioned wanting to do the Broad St Run and I think I remember from a GTKY thread way back when that you live in Philly - what's your favorite area of the city?
@lizzielu82 yes he knows! He found out because he checked my phone and saw Garrett's name pop up! Once I told Garrett Parker knew, Garrett stopped texting me. But Garrett texted me last night and we've been talking today!

**stuck in quote box purgatory*** That picture is so awesome! Yeah science! Just out of curiosity, do you watch 2 Broke Girls?
Also- this thead is BANANAS. It's great to learn so much about everyone!
Oooh count me in too! @Econosaurus did you mention before that your DH was in the medical field? If so did you meet him before med school? (I have a terrible memory and may be way off... Oops)
@Celticlass6 - you mentioned wanting to do the Broad St Run and I think I remember from a GTKY thread way back when that you live in Philly - what's your favorite area of the city?
@jessa1228 - I live outside of Philly, and sadly do not get into the city as much as I probably should for as easy as it is to get there! Favority area is probably the Old City area though. I'm a history nut so I love the old streets, and I also love all the yummy restaurants around there.
Now a question for you - Ninjas or Pirates, and why? :P
@nfranco973 - Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Sorry if my questions suck I don't feel very good at this!
I would love to own my own limo company with DH. I currently manage a limo company for a good friend of mine. It has been my baby for the last 3 years. I started it up for him from zip. He financed and I helped make his dream come true. Now it's time to make mine come true. Hopefully the finances fall into place.
I hope to see my daughter in college and my son in H.S growing and becoming independent.

Pirates. I can't really pinpoint why though. Just because :-)
@lizolivia12 as a fellow interracial couple (DH is El Salvadorian) Does your DH have any traditions he wants to share with his son? Also, what attracted you to him?
First off, it's so nice to meet you!! As far as tradition- not really. He does want to only speak Spanish at home ao LO will he completely fluent in Spanish and English. Also, he wants him to learn to dance
How we met: we play soccer. Atlanta is a pretty big city for adult league soccer. I played co-ed with him about 2.5 years ago and was immediately drawn to him. His smile is absolutely infectious and I can honestly say he's the best person I've met in my life. We are ao seriously madly in love and can't wait for LO.
@Kllopez1221 I will ask you the same question!!!!! How did you meet DH?? Can you speak Spanish fluently? Where do you all live!? So interested
@nfranco973 Which celebrity woman would you want to have a threesome with?
Well, I have a few I'm mind. I would def do Jessica Alba, Penelope Cruz, shakira (she can get it twice lol), Angelina Jolie, Jennifer love Hewitt, Salma Hayek, Ciara, Sofia Vergara (DH has a big crush on her), Fergie (he loves her too lol) and Thalia cuz she's god darn sexy !
@annieroo I'm most proud that I stepped outside of my comfort zone and experienced the world. Many people in my family haven't even left our state.
lizzielu82 yes my SO knows about me being on TB now, I used to hide it. I felt kind of weird saying I needed a support group for this pregnancy. I've expressed all of it to him and he felt bad because I felt I needed it. He doesn't say much except that I need to get out of the house more.
sj+cm131 I can cook a mean baked mac n cheese layered with cheese!
lizzielu82 how many children do you think you'll want?
Well, I'd probably consider my sister my best friend. So, I guess we met at the hospital when she was born. She is moving to Norway next week. No idea what I'm even going to do. I keep just randomly freaking out about it and bursting into tears. I want her to be happy though and I know that she wants this pretty bad so I'm sucking it up.
Biggest misconception in the real world, prob that I'm shy. I have to feel out situations and people before engaging to quickly. Once I do.. It's over! We're BFF for life!
I just found this thread, was a crazy busy day... I want to play too! @MindyandRyan if you were stranded on an island what 3 movies would you want with you?
Biggest misconception... I have two. One is, that I'm a snob. I'm shy and an introvert so I have to know someone before I start talking a lot. Second is that I'm intimidating. I'm tall, and over weight so apparently that translates to mean. Whatever. I'm actually every sweet and quiet nice (unless you piss me off but unless your my DH, that's pretty hard to do IRL).
I just found this thread, was a crazy busy day... I want to play too!
@MindyandRyan if you were stranded on an island what 3 movies would you want with you?
The Jerk, Edward Scissorhands and Zombieland. All 3 I have watched again and again and again!
since this thread is already crazy long and that I am afraid of asking a question of someone that was already asked, I will instead ask a question to anyone who wants to answer:
What is the biggest misconception that others have of you?
The biggest misconception is that I'm mean. I have a natural mean look to me but I love to laugh/smile and I'm really a sweetheart with a side of bish lol
@maebee87 Where is the most awesome place you've ever been and why do you think it's great?
The most awesome place was open water scuba diving in the Pacific Ocean near Fiji with 30 hammerhead sharks- I think it was great because it was both terrifying and so beautiful. Faced my fears and have an amazing story to tell.
No I'm a redtube girl. I have zero issues with porn. I don't mind if my man watches it alone, he doesn't because he's working all the time but it would not bother me.
redtube is good stuff. ever tried fuq dot com?
@lisaren when watching redtube do you watch just real people or do you watch anime or the cartoons too?
@lissydee biggest misconception is that I am a bitch. That is so far from the truth. I can be only when crossed otherwise I will do whatever possible to help people out. one time I was pretty broke between pay checks and a homeless man was asking for money i literally have him the last $3 I had for him to get food instead of me I was on my way to do a 10 hour shift. I was happy to do it however was ready to eat grass when I left. I had food at home biggest part i have a home.
I am soooo late to this but read every single post! Phew! I've been down with a migraine all day and missed this until tonight. I'm game if anyone has any questions left!
And I will second, third, fourth all the ladies who said the biggest misconception is that they're shy, mean, bitchy, etc. I, too, am cursed with permanent bitch face. As you can see in this week's HDBD photo--I had no idea I was even MAKING the face in that picture!
I'm up too, and I've been wanting to ask you about your career, so perfect timing! I know you are in academia. What is your area? Will you be taking leave when LO comes? As a PhD student, I'm interested in the experiences of other moms in higher ed.

@MollMoll4 - Yes, that's where I got the names from. It was kind of a joke because IVF was making us broke.

I have heard a few people say this! Interesting!
I feel like I am way too late I jump in today, but I'm down for next time. I enjoyed learning more about you ladies through your responses!
@lisaren when watching redtube do you watch just real people or do you watch anime or the cartoons too?
Kinda late in the game here
