What Up Wednesday

The barista called me mam this morning.

My day was ruined.

H is out of town, so I've been having to get up extra early to squeeze in a quick shower before DD gets up and I have to get us ready for work/daycare.

She was up at 5:30 this morning.  I put her in our bed with milk, cereal and Disney Jr. so that I could shower.  The whole time I was in there, all I could hear was "Mom? Mommy! Momma?"

She didn't need anything, just wanted me to take a 3 minute shower apparently.  I am mess today.

  • My jeep needs a water pump. It's been a while since it's needed something buy it really needs a clutch soon and was hoping that would be the next thing we do. Oh well.

I have no inspiration for a 2 yr party for G. It will just be a family dinner. Not sure what I will do if anything.
  • We let our dog sleep in our room last night for the first time (she has always slept in a crate) and she never even made a peep. I only even considered it because she was barking at the lightning
/:) But I'm happy it worked out because I feel better about that arrangement.
  • Our new gutters etc are looking awesome. They'll be finished Friday hopefully.

I'm considering hiring the guys doing the gutters to put up a hand railing on the front porch and pour a small concrete sidewalk. DH has no time and when he does DS is around. I might just tell them to do it and tack it on our bill now.

Today is my Thursday because I took Friday off. I'm so excited to leave town for the day just the 3 of us. We haven't done that in a long time.

If I put a run in another pair of nylons I may just have to dip into my 401k. OK kidding, but damn I go thru these things fast.

    I'm open for suggestions.

    STUCK:
Tell me again, you have to wear skirts/dresses to work right?

My Mom wears hoes probably 3x a week to work still (no idea why) and puts lotion on both her hands and her legs before putting them on.  Says it helps her so that they don't rip because they're more slippery. :-)  It's worth a shot!

  • DH scheduled for the tree cutters to come out today.  He left to go OOT yesterday and should be back this evening.  Well....he didn't move the boat (which is under a limb that needs cut) or the kids play equipment which is under a few more limbs that need cut) before he left.  My hitch on the Journey is the wrong size for the boat and I don't think I can move it without fucking the lawn up anyways since it's raining.   I'm pissed he didn't move that stuff before he left and feel like I should call to reschedule.

  • DH's parents and I went in on his bday gift, a Big Green Egg, which is the king of grilling, smoking, etc. Now, I'm second-guessing the fact that we went with the large instead of the extra large because it's smaller than his current grill. But, damn, the XL is crazy expensive. I figure if he's cooking for a crowd, he can always use the egg and the older grill, right? Someone please tell me that no one needs to cook 24 burgers at once.

  • I came in to work today to only 4 emails over night. My norm is 20+. I feel like I can slack off all morning now - ha. I actually think a trip to Sbux is in order to celebrate.
I wish Starbucks were close enough to the office to justify running back out. It requires an AM detour if I want a latte. I am in the land of Dunkin out here.

  • This recovery has been the pits. I won't go in to all the TMI details but it has just sucked. I've tried being strong but today I just can't move. My incision hurts more than ever and now I have a bladder infection that is extremely painful. I just want to feel normal again.

I was bragging to DH yesterday about how in check my hormones have been and how I really haven't felt weepy. I spoke too soon. I want to cry about everything today! It doesn't help that Nola just bit my leg because I wouldn't let her drink my milk.

I'm done being a downer now!

  • I was just in the bathroom. I hear Seany open the front door. He does it all day long. There's a chain at the top, so the door only opens a few inches. Next thing I know, I hear people talking to the boys. I come out to the living room to see the people with the religious papers at the door. They even offered to give a bible to each of the boys. I think we are going to Lowes to get another deadbolt now.
L can open our sliding glass door. DH never locks it when he comes in through there and then I hear the damn door slide open when I am in the kitchen and freak. I don't know how to get him to remember to lock it so she doesn't get out unsupervised.

No where super exciting really. Just an hour north of us. We live in a small town. This one is the largest in our entire area. I see Starbucks, Target, Kohls and TJMaxx in my future! We're hoping to find a really nice park and do a picnic. I'm just excited to get away for the day. Thanks for asking!

I work in 'an up and coming' neighborhood. Basically, the ghetto that they are gentrifying. It is working, but ALL I have is a SBux, McDs, Wendy's, and a like 5 other small joints to eat. NBD if I packed my lunch more often, but that is the first thing to go if we are running behind in the mornings.

Good call.  I need to get some blood work done anyway (Type 2 Diabetes runs in the family - since I'm getting old I need to watch for it).  I hope that's not it.  I hope it's just the exhaustion of the past month - moving, unpacking, setting up the house still making sure the kids have fun outside, that's getting to me.

    1. There are people there.

I'd go if I knew someone there. Maybe by the end of the season.

I showed the boys the video I made for Father's Day last night and they both went into a "I miss papa" funk. James asked to watch it again today and again had the Papa blues. I made it thinking DH could watch it when he is traveling but now I'm worried it will put him in a funk too.

  • I'm really cranky today.

My 30 minute commute took an hour and 20 minutes today, for literally no reason. I turned on the AM station which broadcasts traffic and they said the commute on my highway was slow for no apparent reason.... I don't mind an hour and 20 minute commute if I lived an hour and 20 minutes away, but I'm normally 15 minutes from work without traffic, 30 with traffic. Gah.

I have a terrible headache and want to go back to bed today. I think I'm getting pregnancy related crankiness.

Oh man, I really need a No Soliciting sign.  A lawn care guy came two days in a row and gave me the same spiel both days.  He just wouldn't take no for an answer.  I tried to be polite, but I finally had to just say "I don't want to talk about this anymore."  Next time I won't try to be polite /:)
  • @melody921, my co-worker has a Big Green Egg and they have the large.  They have 4 kids (high school age) and he keeps his regular gas grill for big parties, but said that he usually doesn't even need to use it. :-)

@mrskipper, I'm sorry. :-(  Hopefully today is your funk day and tomorrow is totally different!!

H is traveling this week too.  All week long in daycare they've been working on Father's Day crafts, and reading books and singing songs about Father's Day. Every day that I've picked up DD she's been asking for him.  It's heartbreaking.

    She's working :( it's fine.

We have no plans for Father's day. I did so much for Mother's Day and not one person has asked about doing anything for Father's Day and I am not offering. I feel bad but I am the only one who ever plans things.

I bid on EBAY on a BR dress that I have been coveting for an upcoming wedding. DH informed me yesterday that he may have to work so we might not go.

So naturally I won the auction. I guess I can re-sell if we don't go.
