I showed the boys the video I made for Father's Day last night and they both went into a "I miss papa" funk. James asked to watch it again today and again had the Papa blues. I made it thinking DH could watch it when he is traveling but now I'm worried it will put him in a funk too.
H is traveling this week too.  All week long in daycare they've been working on Father's Day crafts, and reading books and singing songs about Father's Day. Every day that I've picked up DD she's been asking for him.  It's heartbreaking.
DH is working midnights which means he goes to work for 5:30pm and gets home about 6am. DS wakes about 7:30. We leave for my mom's/daycare at 8am. We don't get home until after 5. DS is missing DH for sure. He gave him a big hug and kiss yesterday before he left then grabbed his lunch bag and said "No go. All done." DH about cried.

  • Thanks to @BillyMollyEmmy, I investigated some love life enhancers and bought one. I am terrified and excited- so are the boys who took off with my package and couldn't understand why I wouldn't let them open it!
You can just send me a thank you card in the mail.

Last night we were skyping with H, and he was all "Only 2 more nights until I come home", and I was all "No, it's 3 nights, today is the 10th."

His phone, tablet, and laptop (which are all different brand devices) said it was June 11th.

He turned them all off/on and they still said the 11th, and aren't synced in any way.

He had to go to cnn.com to confirm that it was, in fact, Tuesday the 10th.

  • Well. Fuck.

I just looked at my student loan repayment and the monthly payment almost doubled for mine from last year. Went up 25% for DH.

Sucks.  I decided to look at my student loans (I have auto pay so I never look at them) and was pissed when I saw the outstanding amount was 6K more than I thought.   The effing things will never be paid off.

Hey, on a positive note, when I went to the doctor yesterday for the bladder infection I weighed less than I did at my first appt for this pregnancy! I still have 20lbs to go to get to my first pre-pregnancy weight with Nola, but small victories!
Woo! That's the best kind of silver lining.

@banich4eva If there is one thing I love more than a party dress, it's an awesome deal on a party dress.

Keep it!  You'll have occasion to wear it!  And BR stuff is classic.  I still wear dresses that I bought from there 5+ years ago.
Agreed. I love BR, and their stuff is good quality.

  • My sister couldn't be bothered to come to Indy's birthday party- or even call and let us know she wouldn't be there. The next day she posted a picture of herself and her friends 4 year old at a water park. Whatever, karma is a bitch and so are you....and.....my boys do not have to beg to be loved, we'll make our own family.
This is b.s. Want to know something @IndigoVader ? My sister does the same. Then complains that she "never gets to see her nephew" or "misses her nephew" on FB. Oh and in the 10 plus years I've lived in the city, she's been to my place twice. She posted last week that she had to cancel her trip to CT to visit her friends and their kids... REALLY?

  • @IndigoVader, I love your new siggy.  Seriously, the hairs.  I just love it.

I just had a newbie in my office who knows everything about everything.  I feel mentally exhausted and it's not even 11am.  She also said "retarded" 6 different times.  Dude.  You're a parent to 3 middle school-high school age kids and WORK IN AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!  You of all people should know not to use that word in reference to the Freshman Experience course you have to take.I try not to let stuff like that bother me, but she really rubbed me the wrong way.
Thanks, love. I am in BIG trouble when they get older. Indy already knows " I'm sexy and I know it" and has the attitude to match.

I absolutely hate the word retarded. Saying something is retarded is just as disgusting as saying it is gay. Come on people, we are adults and are supposed to teach our kids, to raise them to not be bullies and to be respectful. You can't do that if you talk like that, lead by example. (Says the mom whose kids can tell you to fawk off.)
I hate it too, and I never say it. But people around me do it all the time. I don't say anything to them, I just don't use it myself.

  • Everyday this week I have put my hand through the elastic waistband part of my underwear.  Seriously.  What. The. Fuck.  And since I have a "no holes in things" policy, DH mocks me and watches me to make sure I really throw them out.  Sigh.  Except that I'm so weird, I have to throw them in the wash and clean them and THEN throw them away because ew, throwing away dirty underwear.

  • @Eastie156, it used to bother me like crazy. She is always posting pictures of herself and this little guy, I get it, she loves him- that's cool. However, he is the same age as Indy and I found myself resenting HIM, not her- which is ridiculous. Every kid deserves to be loved, if she can't love her nephews, well, this little boy deserves it too. I'm not letting it get to my heart anymore.

@IndigoVader It doesn't bother me anymore either. I think it's her loss. I assume my sister does it because we don't get along that well and while I fully believe she does miss her nephew, the fact that we aren't close plays into the situation a great deal. I'm a little over an hour from her-she's a busy person, but doesn't reach out to me at all. We go to her if we want to see her.

Congrats @KaylaJane27 ! When we sold our studio condo in the fall and moved to a 3 bedroom apartment I was in heaven! I hope all works out for you.

If I put a run in another pair of nylons I may just have to dip into my 401k. OK kidding, but damn I go thru these things fast.

    I'm open for suggestions.

Does that mean nylons are coming back in style? I hope so. I still have bunches and I think dresses look more polished.

We do the IBR plan which is great.. except if you income increases a tiny bit, the payment seems to change A LOT in comparison. I'm sure there is all sorts of calculations that go into it but it stresses me out.

We were lucky that DH had no student loan debt. I on the other hand did. When we refinanced we took the money out to pay for it with equity in our house. The interest rate was less than half and by doing the math we're actually saving money even though we're technically paying longer. Felt so great to get that monkey off our backs.

I was just in the bathroom. I hear Seany open the front door. He does it all day long. There's a chain at the top, so the door only opens a few inches. Next thing I know, I hear people talking to the boys. I come out to the living room to see the people with the religious papers at the door. They even offered to give a bible to each of the boys. I think we are going to Lowes to get another deadbolt now.

    And a No Soliciting sign

I think there are a few different options for repayment, right? There's the 20 year repayment, the 25 or 30 (?) year repayment and then the scaled payments. Are the scaled payments what you are talking about? They start out small and as the years go on, they assume greater income so your payments become larger? @Banich4eva

  • My jeep needs a water pump. It's been a while since it's needed something buy it really needs a clutch soon and was hoping that would be the next thing we do. Oh well. I have no inspiration for a 2 yr party for G. It will just be a family dinner. Not sure what I will do if anything.

I only do a big party for 1 and then not again until 5. In between I do family (grandparents and our siblings only) and a few of our close friends for cake. maybe this should be my fffc

I am not planning a 2nd birthday party.  He doesn't know any kids anyways.  Until he has friends no parties here.  Of course we'll have cake/cup cakes and open some presents but no actual party.

The difference between who we invited for her 1st b day and who we would invite for birthday 2 is 8 people. Just family is 20. If I invite my friend in her kids 24. I feel like i either need to invite no one and not have a party or have 20 people and then it is basically a party. I have some time to decide.

I love parties and planning. I just don't want to feel gift grabby. I just want to throw a party.

The IBR plan is based on your actual income. We have to provide our tax information each year to renew. If you haven't paid it off after 25 years the rest of the debt is canceled.

Our income has increased but the amount it increased last year was not that much. Alas, there is little I can do about it.

I will throw huge parties for every birthday for as long as my kids want them. I love having parties, and it's fun to get everyone together a few times a year. And I make photo books for the kids after each party and it's so funny/awesome to look back and see how much everyone has changed. Also, I never had a single birthday party growing up and I think it made me a crazy party adult.
I fully intend to do it when they're older.  But at 2?  Nancy certainly isn't going to ask me for a party.  It's just a party for me at that point, which is totally fine too.  Her 1st birthday was my party and it was awesome.  I just can't personally justify having a big to do for a 2nd birthday party like was discussed in the party thread.

My birthday parties growing up were always big because my family is so big.  I think that's why I tend to tone things down a bit more.  Because if it's just my family and not DH's?  That's 28 people right there if they all show up.  Add in his 8 and my house just isn't that big.  It's also different because my family is all local.  And we get together for EVERYTHING.  which is awesome, but also exhausting.
