Everyday this week I have put my hand through the elastic waistband part of my underwear. Seriously. What. The. Fuck. And since I have a "no holes in things" policy, DH mocks me and watches me to make sure I really throw them out. Sigh. Except that I'm so weird, I have to throw them in the wash and clean them and THEN throw them away because ew, throwing away dirty underwear.
This keeps happening to me too. Except I still wear them.
I can vouch for the fabulousness of Aerie underwear. Order some that are new :-)
I will throw huge parties for every birthday for as long as my kids want them. I love having parties, and it's fun to get everyone together a few times a year. And I make photo books for the kids after each party and it's so funny/awesome to look back and see how much everyone has changed. Also, I never had a single birthday party growing up and I think it made me a crazy party adult.
I fully intend to do it when they're older. But at 2? Nancy certainly isn't going to ask me for a party. It's just a party for me at that point, which is totally fine too. Her 1st birthday was my party and it was awesome. I just can't personally justify having a big to do for a 2nd birthday party like was discussed in the party thread.
My birthday parties growing up were always big because my family is so big. I think that's why I tend to tone things down a bit more. Because if it's just my family and not DH's? That's 28 people right there if they all show up. Add in his 8 and my house just isn't that big. It's also different because my family is all local. And we get together for EVERYTHING. which is awesome, but also exhausting.
The parties when they were really young were totally for me. No shame. I love celebrating their birthdays and recognizing that I made it through another year of being a mom. I totally get why people don't want to throw parties every year, it's definitely not necessary. But we don't have big Thanksgiving or Christmas get togethers, so birthdays are pretty much the only time that people come over for a big event. And I do NOT invite most of my family. I am number 36 of 37 grandkids, it's over 100 people to invite my cousins and their families. Only 2 of my cousins make the cut.

My jeep needs a water pump. It's been a while since it's needed something buy it really needs a clutch soon and was hoping that would be the next thing we do. Oh well. I have no inspiration for a 2 yr party for G. It will just be a family dinner. Not sure what I will do if anything.
I only do a big party for 1 and then not again until 5. In between I do family (grandparents and our siblings only) and a few of our close friends for cake. maybe this should be my fffc
I have no intention of having a big party for 2 either. Even if I weren't going to have a week old baby, I still wouldn't do it. :-)
We will have our families and our closest friends, but not as big as the 1st bday.

James didn't ask for his second birthday party but he certainly talked about it for a long time after. It was an all kids party at his gym since we had no family here. Nothing big, but lots of fun for the kids.
Leo's party will also be small but seriously cute (hopefully). I think we will do our family pictures at the orchard just before the party starts too.

I'm like @jenndub. The parties are for me when they are little because I'm obsessed with planning parties and celebrating in general. When they get older they will have more of a say which I will honor because my mom was a control freak with things like parties when I was growing up.
Plus, as I said in the other post, we've lived in condo the past 9 years not able to host much so I am all about throwing a party for anything I can now that we have a big house and a massive yard. I'm hosting Father's Day on Sunday for both sides and having an Open House for the 4th. I love hosting parties and events!
My mom got me a set of picture frames for Christmas that has been sitting in the box since. I need to find a coupon for some prints so I can finally set these up, has anyone seen one? I want to try to have a canvas print done, but don't want to pay a ton for it.

I love the photo book idea. I should do this for B from last year.
I like parties for kids but in a way I feel like it's competely outrageous now. What happened to going to a party without a million activities and huge gift bags with crappy toys from the dollar store inside? I sound so bahumbug but I think it's a tad crazy now.
I'll do the same for B as we did last year. Invite a few people over including our very small family and have cake, ice cream and maybe pizza. Easy!
I love doing parties for the kids. I never had birthday parties as a kid and it still bugs me
Summer baby here. I never had friends at my birthday bacause it was prime going away season. When I was a little older, I requested to be at camp on my birthdays.

You mean everyone doesn't have to attend 4 days of Christmas, 2 of which are with the same family?
My family has always been big into celebrating things, but since my Dad died, we celebrate everything. For example...I saw my sisters & their families on Friday for my Aunt's funeral. My 2 sisters, 2 nieces, Mom & Nancy's Nana (my Dad's 1st wife) are all going for dinner tomorrow night for my niece's graduation. Then we'll see them again on Sunday for giant family party for her graduation and her sister's birthday, then we're all having a big spa day on 7/12. We will probably also stop at my sister's house for her annual 4th of July party.
Between Christmas & March 30, I see my family 5 times due to birthday's. My Dad and his first wife only had sex around their anniversary...my brother was 2/6, my sister is 2/20 of the following year, and my 3rd sister is 3/30 of the year after that. Then my Dad had shingles and was "probably sterile" and 8 years later came my brother. :-)

Thats funny!
My family is small and DH's even smaller. Factor in a MIL who almost hates the sight of the sun and it makes for very small, often family get togethers on my side. We see my parents multiple times a week. My brother lives 3+ hours away so we don't see him often at all. Christmas is 1 big get together that lasts 2-3 days but since my family is so small it isn't overwhelming.
Have you guys heard of PinterestFake? I was just cracking up in my office reading these while Judgy McJudgerson sits across from me in the lab, even though there are 3, yes 3 vacant offices within 50 feet of her....
Is there a big difference between 18-24 month clothes and 2t clothes? I seriously cannot remember, and for some reason have full wardrobes in each size that I kept from keagan. Are you guys putting both sizes on Lo now?

B is in a solid 2t/3t but I bought all 3t for summer so that's what he's in. The shirts a bit big but I'd rather that than too small and not about to go buy 2t shirts when he's growing.

Depends on brand and the brands lines. Like Boden has Baby Boden and Mini Boden. Even though Mini Boden is the bigger kids clothes, they fit slimmer because kids are slimmer than babies and potty trained. So 18-24mo in Baby Boden is a little bigger than 2T Mini Boden. Leo can wear both but they fit differently.

I wish I was shopping at boden haha I'm just trying to figure out if I should take the 2t clothes out of storage and add them to the closet, or if I'm better off saving them for next summer.

This is why I don't store things by the size on the label but by when he wore them
If he is wearing 18-24, yes I would unpack the 2T summer clothes.
ETA: and I bet he will be able to wear most of the 2T shorts next year too. Leo is wearing the same shorts James wore last summer mixed in with the shorts James wore the summer before he was 2.

Add me to the list of families that celebrate all the things.
Thankfully, my ILs invited my family for Father's Day at the lake, so we'll only have one celebration to attend Sunday.
...which is good, because next Friday is "opening night" at the lake, so 15 of us are going to dinner, and then Saturday night, we're going out to celebrate FIL & SIL's birthdays...which I'm sure we will celebrate AGAIN on their actual birthdays.

I haven't found a huge difference in terms of tops for 18/24-2T but Hannah is barely big enough to wear 18-24m, and there's no way 2T pants/shorts will stay up for longer than 2 seconds.

I've actually found that some 2T stuff stays on her skinny butt better, because it's cut slimmer. But I think a ton varies depending on brand, too. We practically skipped 18-24 mo because a lot of 2T is just fitting better.

I'm having trouble finding any bottoms that fit her well. She has longer legs, so 12-18m won't work, but I have to roll the waistband of 18-24m, and even then they fall down.
Gain some weight, kid. She clearly did not inherit my ass. No pants falling down here.
I'm having a problem with 24mo/2T. 24mo isn't long enough but 2T doesn't accommodate diapers well. Some 24mo shorts I find are better than 2T on G. It's all so weird.

Yeah, I was going to say this too. DD is in 18-24 clothes, but even shorts in that size are big on her. 2T would work for a shirt and maybe a dress, but definitely not bottoms.
We have the problem of 18-24 month pants and shorts being too big in the waist and way too long. 12-18 are way too small though. Ethan is busting out of 18-24 month tops. He's closer to a 2T in tops and I guess 18-24 bottoms.

Reason number 194 why my kid is in dresses 99% of the time. We do bloomers under the big ones and leggings under last years. My child currently has items in her closet marked 6-9 thru 2t. And they all fit. I hate kid sizing.

I showed the boys the video I made for Father's Day last night and they both went into a "I miss papa" funk. James asked to watch it again today and again had the Papa blues. I made it thinking DH could watch it when he is traveling but now I'm worried it will put him in a funk too.
Has he slowed down at all? This makes me sad for the boys.
He travels at the beginning and end of a market program. It just happens that one is ending the same time as another is beginning right now so it is 3 weeks of back to back travel. Usually he just does one week and is home for a few.
Stories like this make me so angry. This poor baby is lucky to be alive. So this woman supported her boyfriend's actions until he was convicted and now she feels bad?
Oh hey. That is like 45 minutes from me. His sentence is long! I think that should set a precedence. A co-worker's niece was severely injured by co-worker's BIL. He is now in jail as well. There needs to be support when a new baby is brought home IMHO. That is the type of social work I wish I could do right now. It is so tough having an infant. No excuse for this but it might help minimize the occurrence rate.
@dimples12, I didn't realize how close to each other we live. I'm about 30 minutes north of where this happened
