Re: Longest Thread EVER! (aka Random Thoughts Thread )

  • @fourthnlast‌ that totally stinks for you! I've noticed Olivia seems to go through the growth spurt and then the leap so it seems like we have a bunch of crappy days as well. I hope Emma takes a nap for you soon. Or you can get a break somehow.
Thanks. The only saving grace is that she sleeps like a champion at night, but some days I NEED a break. Seriously hoping as she gets older, her 15-30 minute cat naps get longer.

  • Scary morning over here-
I got LO up to change his diaper after he was fussing for about 5 minutes. The second I put him on the changing table he starts SCREAMING. I get him changed and he still won't stop. This isn't a normal cry, it's his "alert!" cry. Nothing would console him and his stomach started making these "lurches" (the way you do when you vomit) that made him scream louder though nothing came out. After about 20 min I finally called the pedi and they said to take him to the ER. I text DH to come home while trying to console DS.
By the time DH made it home, DS was calmer and the lurches were 5ish minutes apart. Waited 10 min, called the pedi again and they said to just keep an eye on it since he doesn't have a fever.
No poops yet today, but 2 wet diapers that required clothing changes.

We will be snuggling on the couch all day.
    Poor guy. :(

LO received a beautiful handmade quilt from a friend of mine. I feel bad tucking it away for safe keeping but I also feel bad about using it.
My aunt made LO a lovely quilt too. Am trying to figure out how best to hang it up on the wall. I don't want to use it, but I do want to look at it!
Maybe use it as a play "mat" or area? I made this mistake for a friend before I was pregnant. Made this amazingly awesome quilt. Totes didn't understand what infants needed. She used it as a place for baby to be on while on the ground. I was totally stoked for this!

Holy catch up! I made it through 377 posts while feeding LO haha! We've been busy with our 6 week growth spurt over here. I had to add in two more pumps a day to keep him happy. My boobs need to get with the program! James has decided he wants to be an overachiever and is now pushing up on his elbows during tummy time. All the grandparents are super impressed and think it shows how smart he is. Jokes on them though, because DH and I know he only learned to do it during burping. We burp over the shoulder mid-feed and he hates it. So a week or two ago, he discovered if he pushes away from us that we'll stop the dreaded burp and give him more food. Early milestones my ass!
WOW. That's an intense nursing sesh. And here I felt like a BA for nursing through 177 posts!

Good, poopy thoughts your LO. Thoughts of patience and love to you (not that you need the love for your LO...but just love in general).

  • Do you all have days where you want nothing but to cuddle with your LO? And it's like, anxiety-inducing if you can't?

Yep. Today. Thankfully I have nothing that absolutely needs doing so we have barely left the couch.
  • Hope LO is ok @pineconey

RTT slackkkker for the past few days, playing catch up.

-DD had her two month (what??!!?) visit this morning. She was a complete champ about the shots- cried hard during and then nursed to sleep right after. She has literally been sleeping since 11am with one, barely awake break to nurse and get changed.
Mamas that have done 2 month shots- was this your experience? I was expecting a wailing banshee...

@pineconey Hope your little dude is alright, sounds like a scary night for you!!

@poppyseedwindsor Every single minute of always. I seriously never want to put LO down and when I have to, I rush to finish so I can resume cuddles. Wearing her has made it possible to both cuddle and be productive, so win-win. DH thinks I'm ridiculous for always wanting to hold her, but whatevs. I'm the Mama.

Feeling strangely in control of things today- made a decision about my future work plans, went grocery shopping and meal planned, did a metric ton of laundry and my house is...not horrible.

I fear I will be punished very shortly for this aw-ing....

    Edited: grammar is hard
  • I could live off of grilled bell peppers.
  • @pineconey All my hugs to the little pinecone. :( Feel better, buddy!

  • Wonder weeks, growth spurts...what the fuck ever. Emma must be doing both of these every week of her life. She's always cranky, always hungry and hates to sleep with a fiery passion. If one more person suggests EASY to me, I will rip their fucking heads off. The concept sounds great, but who's going to keep this kid sleeping? I look at all of the naps on the sample EASY plan and just laugh. Emma has never slept that much during the day in her whole life. She may nap that long in a week, never a day.

Babies are NOT fill in the blank/identical molds/one-size-fits-all. If EASY doesn't work for you, fuck it. Or, adapt it to what works for you. You're awesome. You're doing your best which is probably effing awesome. Hang in there and stick with your gut! (This is what I tell myself!)
Thanks :) It's been a strange day around here and everything is setting me off. You would think that E being #4, I would know what I was doing by now...not a fucking clue most days.

Nooooo! Use it! As a quilter, you don't want to have your hard work put away. She made it to use, so make it well loved! Trust me! :)
Another quilter seconding this!  I get such a thrill hearing that my friends' or family members' babies/kids are using their quilts, as an activity mat, or dragged around the house, or whatever.  Hell, my cats have their own naptime quilts.

I don't know if any of y'all still do this, but whenever we go somewhere, one of us sits in the back with baby girl. Usually I drive and my husband sits in the back with her. Yesterday I hear my husband having this conversation with her: Look at that double chin! Is that where you store your happy feelings? =)) I don't know where he comes up with this stuff. I accused him of getting it from somewhere because I didn't think he could make up something that funny.
Yep, I do this on long car rides.  Partly because I am a paranoid new mom and just feel better sitting back there, and partly because there is no longer enough legroom in the passenger seat for my 5'10" self to comfortably sit for long periods in our car.  Time to get the minivan, I guess! :)
  • @pineconey‌

    That's terrifying ! T&P
  • I'm so annoyed right now. DH is spending money at school like crazy. Now he just text saying he's driving 3 hours to go to the braves game on the 14th. We are moving our stuff into storage at the end of the month so we should be saving money for a moving truck, boxes, the unit. Not only are we not saving money, but the boys and I can't do anything that's not free because he is spending all the money! And if I complain about him spending so much money, he gets pissed and says he deserves it because he's at school. Don't I deserve it too? I'm taking care of both boys! Ughh I hate DH when he is at army schools

I bet baby nightmares are about the ghosts. Extra scary because mom and dad can't see them.
    I hate your face... lol

No but really, DS will let out horrifying shrill screams in his sleep.  Now all I'll be able to think is his ghosty nightmares

We have to do this because of the legroom issue too. My Ford Focus was apparently not meant for car seats.

  • I just signed my girl preschool and dance classes. Ugh, I'll never be able to let go. I'm afraid I'm going to be one of those pto moms when she's in real school; a crazy, over involved mom. I'm happy to see her so excited, though.

SOs sister got me stripper heels for my birthday. Uhh thanks?

I wish I could snuggle my little all day :( I hate working and often spend it there staring at my phone at pictures. Thankfully he's being snuggled by grandma all day it makes it a little easier and NOTHING is better then the smile I get when I pick him up makes me melt.
  • Where's @ColleenSwerb‌ today? And @deidremaria‌, where did you goooo?

Dani 3 pages back I asked you a quesssstion.

  • I feel like I don't want to have sex again ever. I look like mushed assholes, I haven't worn makeup in days, my hair is gross and I'm pasty as fuck right now. I should get a nanny that helps me around the house and doubles as a mistress for DH, then we'd all be a lot happier!
    This! Exactly!

  • Anybody else experience post partum hormones come back with a fucking vengeance and a half? My afternoon was ripe with emotions and unableness-to-deal-with-normal-day-stress/shit hormones that were as powerful and ass-kicking as Bruce Willis ala Die Hard combined with Danny Glover and Mel Gibson in EVERY Lethal Weapon movie combined.

DS just took a pumped bottle (I'm having a margarita), he's in his swing after a good walk-around-the-house burping session, and I'm singing to him the soundtrack from O Brother, Where Art Thou.  Did I mention the sun is shining and the world is green?  Not a bad afternoon for my little 7 week old :)
